Great video. These help a lot since I recently got my Work Sharp Pro plus I am new to sharpening. I already sharpened 2 knives and they turned out awesome. Thanks for the many tutorials.
I use alcohol and a paper towel to clean the stones in between uses and wipe off the edges of the blade to keep from contaminating the next stone. Great video but I worked my way up to the TSPROF KO3 and spent hundreds on diamond stones and other tools needed to get a mirror edge. Thanks for the inspiration.
I thought when using laping films, you should only dp pull stokes away from the blade. I am not sure how the flm didnt tear apart when you push toward the blade. Great job.
Great information as always, btw that is the correct way to truly sharpen a tanto....you need treat it as 2 separate edges....
Very good you showed audience the proper method.
Keep up the great work
I didn't have good results sharpening like that. Had to do long sweeping strokes. Yours came out really nice.
Knife shield spay it on let it dry then wipe or buff off.
I would love v e to see your process for a d/e microtech.
I love the Work Sharp systems. I have the original percussion adjust and on the waiting list for the PRO system. I also have the Ken Onion belts system for the really big jobs. Every knife in my house is DANGEROUSLY sharp. They are systems are extremely easy to use but you will get professional results.
I also bought your lapping films. Ever see a Mora @ 15’ degrees. Mirro polish You can shave your face with it.
Blade HQ has the Professional Precision Adjust in stock and it's $50 cheaper than ordering directly from Work Sharp.
Do a high end Japanese 8 inch knife next please.
Any 8 inch kitchen knife would be cool
Wow did I enjoy nerding out to every minute of this video, thank you! Can't wait to pick up my own Professional Precision Adjust. Very hard to find a user/reviewer that isn't happy with this Worksharp upgrade to the original.
Just got mine. I definitely can't wait for the accessories
Just ordered the plates and adhesives. Looking forward to getting them. Do you skip the ceramic plate when sharpening?
At the very beginning, where may I obtain the "mat" the device is sitting upon?
Thanks for the video(s)! I notice your back and forth technique. You don’t see any value them in push (or pull) alone?
Instead of water with the lapping film, could you use something like WD40?
Ur right when u mentioned about spending more time on the first grit stones as I was polishing I could really tell where I needed to take more material off in some spots. What's the average life span of the lapping film? and out of curiosity have u ever done a compound bevel if so what's ur thoughts. Thanks for all th GR8 info I'm still ""Polishing"" up on my sharpening skillz Lol
Another awesome video.
Thank you for doing a tanto knife!
I bought a cold steel Laredo Bowie in cmp-3v steel. I want to keep the same angle along that 10 1/2 “ blade. Can I use this sharpening system? I want a professional set of stones or this unit you are showing. I don’t want to ruin the edge.
Absolutely, buy this unit, it works great.
Awesome vid! Thanks for posting the detailed look at how to use the new unit. I've got one on order. Thanks, too for the Discount Code for the additional plates. Just ordered a set of 7 plates to use with the 7 Sheet Lapping Film pack which arrived today. Really looking forward to seeing how this setup sharpens and mirror shines the blades. Do you have any suggestions for sharpening the recurved blades of the ZT 0300 and ZT 0350?
Good Stuff Mate! Next Knife you do need's to be a Large Blade at least 6"inch👌
isnt this supposed to be a dry sharpening system? hopefully you dont ruin your stones by using oil or water
Lapping film is not a stone.
What grit would you start at for a brand new knife, after finding the factory edge angle? Still 220?
Yes 220 in case you need to do more than what you think on it
I wouldn’t start at 220 to find the factory edge. You usually have to change the angle of the sharpener to find the factory edge angle. I start out with 650, find the angle and then go to 220 to start sharpening. He had already found the angle so that’s why he started out with the 220 grit.
No water no oil?
I do use water sometimes.
I see more videos of people using ah swiping motion counting the swipes on each side as they go. Your Technique is back and forth. So for a person that is new to knive sharpening which is the proper technique to use?
Swiping motion and count the swipes
Frig me he started this video and has now idea where his marker is.
yep :)
