Hahaha but you can't wish away this population and their actions. We need genuine barriers of entry.
Things like paid entry, checking of local hotel accommodation, etc.

Goa will always be Goa for the Goans, but as a Goan who has lived outside Goa his whole life, I completely understand how Goa is "not the same" for tourists.
That affects locals as well, but I still feel a strong connect to out Konkani culture.

    • @polkebol

That is great. But Goa is heavily dependent on tourism. Emotions have little space in economic matters.
The state needs to realize it needs to get back on track and reform it's tourism sector.

Atlist one in the Goan family is abroad. This tourist industry doesn't feed all Goans. Only politicians makes money out of it.

According to me, Goa has become a mini Mumbai. The cool Goan vibe is replaced by the hindi culture. The builders have aggressively marketed to non Goans and destroyed the green Goan paradise. The local government has done nothing to improve public transport, roads, cleanliness, construction of footpaths, illegal constructions in the fields and noise pollution in the villages.

You can't keep benefiting from tourism for decades and suddenly complain about local cultural dilution. It's a package deal.
However, I agree with the quality of tourists dropping massively. Our people don't know how to behave themselves, especially when drunk.

    • @Dixie567

@@polkebolthe decades of tourism were a golden age of harmonious coexistence? And then, miraculously, tourists became monsters in the last five years. Coincidence? I think not. Perhaps the locals are simply tired of being treated as mere attractions, their cultures commodified, and their resources exploited.

Goa for the whites is different and goa for the desis is different.
As desi tourists, my wife and I tip generously, even by western standards; don't cause ruckus, we're respectful to locals and fellow tourists.
The shack that we visited since the past 7 years have a Nepalese person, among others to have serve us. It's like coming to a home away from home when we meet him, but the local owner is rude for no reason, the undertones of unwantedness for desis is everywhere from high end 5 stars to local bnbs and shacks too. The locals behave differently with the whites.
Since there are cheaper, cleaner and better options available for desis abroad we'd consider that for sure now.

It's because Indian tourists have kept a very bad image of themselves in goa. They litter everywhere, their behaviour is very rude especially after they get drunk, always harassing foreign women for sex..

Goa needs to stop the casinos which are mainly for Indian tourists . Internal roads cannot be built as it will destroy the surroundings. South Goa need not be touched and no need for additional tourists
More importantly all these influencers who have been bad mouthing Goa are talking about domestic tourist and not foreign tourists. Foreign tourist are not there because the place is invaded by chapri indian tourists

Bro we goans never market for indian tourist, we goans were never ready for India tourists. Its the non goans who are running buisness in goa that started Marketing goa for indians just to get back their investment back. They are all business minded and not bother to provide any services. I guess its every tourist place where outsiders do business. And its all correct BJP govt in goa who is deep rooted in corruption to not have development.

Goa has one of the highest per capita GDP in the country because of tourism. One can't ignore the massive impact of that sector on improving the quality of life and tax base for Goans.

    • @kyc5151
      @kyc5151 День назад

@polkebol 🤣 hahaha, again mistaken, less then 5% of goans are dependent on tourism bro. The majority of the tourism stake is with non-goans right now. Who earn in goa and send money back to their home towns in other parts of the country. So don't be in that frame of mind that all Goans are dependent on tourism 🤣🤣. Before 2005 there were no Indian tourists coming to goa but still that time too we had the highest standard of living compared to other states. If goans were dependent on the tourism industry then we goans don't have to leave our state and country and work in Europe.
