The Cabana Clutch~ crochet boho summer clutch bag

- This adorable crochet clutch is a perfect summer accessory that would be a lovely addition to any outfit for the beach or a night out on the town! It works up quickly and uses very little by way of supplies, making it great for vendor market prep or a quick and easy summer project.
You could use regular worsted weight yarn or cotton, or you could try out raffia yarn to give it a boho flair. Regardless of what you choose to use, it's VERY important that you do a guage for this project, otherwise your bag won't fit the premade zipper canvas bag.

Supplies Needed
-180-200 yds. of size 4 pima cotton, such as Yarn Bee Pima Suprema; see pattern notes
-Size 5.5 mm hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
-9 x 6-inch zipper canvas bag
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks, or needle and thread for attachment of bags
-tapestry needle, scissors, tape measure
-You could also add a twist lock closure, as shown in my video, or you could use a small button or 10-12 mm wooden bead to keep the flap closed.
Gauge
16 dc and 6 rows = 4 inches unblocked, unstretched
Gauge is essential in this project or your crochet bag will be the wrong size for your canvas bag that will serve as the lining of your clutch and give it the structure it needs for functionality.
Finished Measurements
Finished panel is meant to fit snugly over a 9 x 6-inch premade canvas zipper bag.

Salutations from the Island of Puerto Rico. It is lovely. I made already 16 of them as a gift for my sisters in church to place their head coverings. They loved it. Thank you for taking you time to teach us. Have a blessed and productive day.
What a thoughtful gift idea! Your friends are very blessed to have you❤️
Love it! You did a great job crocheting and demonstrating HOW to do it yourself DIY. Thank you!!
Love this pattern, can't wait to get started. Thank you.
LOL, when I got to the second round of puff stitches after all the HDC's I kept wanting to do HDC's. Dag-nab-it! LOL

🎉 took me a long while but happy with it!
I'm making this along with you. I am enjoying the tutorial a lot. Very clear instructions. I found the pouches at Hobby Lobby.
I'm so glad you're enjoying it!
Thank you so much. It's a much loved pattern and very easy to make
Selling like hot cakes ❤
I'm SO glad to hear that! ❤️❤️❤️
Hola, tus explicaciones son muy fáciles para mi, soy principiante! ❤

I'm from Indonesia.

A very beautiful job I don't know if I could make it or not but I enjoyed watching you make it
Thank you! I believe in you💪🏼😁
Loved it so good
Can make it more bigger
Me encantan muy😮bonitos
Gracias!
I have the interior zipper bag that I never used but it has a front zipper pocket. So i wonder how I can still use the front zipper pocket without gluing both sides. Hmm 🤔 I love this. It’s stunning!
I'm not sure, to be honest! But thank you❤️
Hi from Cairo/Egypt. Thank you for your detailed and easy to follow instructions. What can I do to make it a bit bigger? Do you have any other videos?
Thank you
What sized bag did you have in mind? You could either go up in hook size and yarn thickness, or you could increase your foundation chain length. I think it is in multiples of 3, but I may be wrong about that. I can't remember the stitch multiple off the top of my head. I hope this helps!
👍❤️-Pala Dutta
What size hook did you use for the raffia bag? Love love this bag
I went down a hook size. I think I mentioned the exact size in the description box below the video. Sorry I can't remember off the top of my head🤦🏻♀️
I’d like to make this an iPad case. Would I increase the beginning chain by multiples of 3? This is a stunning pattern!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!! ❤❤
I honestly made several versions before I was happy with this one, but I *believe* it is multiples of 3🙈 I apologize that I can't remember
hii ! will it be possible to make it in a bigger size ? what would i need to modify
What yarn do you suggest for a substitute? Thank you for sharing your time and talents. Diana
I have used worsted weight yarn but I did make sure to try and meet gauge. I listed it in the description box. Hope this helps!
Thank you for this pattern! Quick question about the gauge, should it be 4 x 4 inch square or 4 inches height of all 6 dc rows?
4x4 inch square
@@DaysCrochet Thank you!
Do you think it would work ok to add a cord to make it into a cross body bag like the sunburst boho bag?
I don't see why not!
Did you dc into the bottom of the chain 3 at the start of round 2?
I did at the end of row 1. Row 2 starts with a ch 3, which counts as your first dc.
I was only able to find canvas bags 9 x 7. Is there a way I can make it longer. I love your patterns and the way you teach on RUclips! I’m so excited I found your channel. I just want to crochet everything 😊
I suppose you could try using a bigger hook
What about a rope like macrame yarn?... How do think this might work? 😊
It should work as long as it's thin enough. Gauge is pretty important in this project
I made it with macramé yarn and it’s chunky and very beautiful
@@hodazaghloul6208hello, which thickness did you used? Thanks
Hello. Beautiful work. Where do you get your paper yarn from. Thank you
I purchased this from a yarn de-stash on Facebook, but you can find it on Wool and the Gang's website here: www.woolandthegang.com/en/products/ra-ra-raffia?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiZqhBhCJARIsACHHEH8f7z3enakP7sEmxRLhpr75b1cC_EnWH32JzfkGsO6KrAjgBuYk7NcaAjm8EALw_wcB
You can find it on Amazon, but I will warn you that it is not the same consistency/sheen, and it is not as well-made.
@@DaysCrochet thank you so much for answering my questions. Have a wonderful day 😊
@@margaritaluna6543 you are very welcome! I hope you have a great day as well ❤️
It's made with cotton yarn.
@@beverlyblincoe4118 if you watch to the end, I show a bag made with the raffia (paper) yarn as well.
Just FYI ... After several gauge swatches I am using a size 4.00 mm hook on several different worsted weight brands.
I'm not sure if I understand what you're trying to say. Ate you saying you are trying different yarns to reach gauge instead of switching up your hook size?
No I used several hook sizes 5.5, 5.0, 4.5, and 4.0 mm but with different medium (4) weight brands of yarn as some are a bit thinner or thicker than others. I found 4.0 mm hook worked perfectly for the pattern you wrote.
you are right, 4 works perfectly. Thank you!!!
Whats the measurement of your chain please?
I didn't measure it. Sorry!
