    NOTE1: Forgot to mention - I fitted a Super Denise in there too (the ECS version of Denise). You can just simply remove Denise, and plug in the Super Denise (from a 500+). Buster doesn't get very warm - so that heat sink on there is not really needed tbh. But Agnus does get hot (as does Alice on the 1200 / 4000).
    NOTE2: With regards to my recommendation of leaving the motherboard stock - that applies to 6.2 boards! If you have a rev 4.x board,. certainly do the mods. I experienced few problems with my rev 4 board. The issues I had related primarily to the removal of that resistor array on the 6.2 board. I did also see benefit from NOT changing the resistor sizes that sit near the CPU (3 of them I think). IDE port for the keyboard?? WTF LOL - I meant to say USB port!

    The Amiga 2000 is such an impressive machine when it's fully kitted out. I have one with a 040 at 33MHz, with 16MB of Fast Ram, and 2MB of Chip Ram. It is a full Video toaster set up as well.

    • @wishusknight3009

      Same here. it is a real enthusiasts machine. Though mine is using a socket accelerator 030 28mhz. I have the video toaster flyer complete with drive tower and octo-cable. Several mods done to the mainboard directly and most every slot full. A machine to be proud of! But keeping it working as it should is really a nightmare. They are worse than old macs.

      @@TheHighlander71 My mainboard had many of its mods done before I got the system. And thankfully the previous owner, who has had it since new documented everything meticulously. So it is pretty easy to see what has to be changed to give me some compatibility. I really do enjoy getting as much out of it as I can, even if newer amiga's were more powerful, the a2000 is what it is all about. Nearly every part of the OCS has something strung off it, like the 2mb chip expansion which was done manually and by replacing the chips of ram on the board itself, scan doubler, 68k socket accelerator, rom tower, several bodges to denise to enable a few extra functions and additional audio mixer, RTC....... Its a frankinstien.

    About the reset: It’s possible the problem is the wireless keyboard “dongle” - try a regular, wired USB keyboard. It could also be that only an “official” Amiga keyboard has the correct key encoder chip to allow for the reset pulse to last as long as you’re holding down the right keys. Finally, Adrian (Adrian’s Digital Basement RUclips channel) recently posted a video on modding a Commodore Pet with a push button reset switch; it may be applicable to this A2000. HTH. 😎

    GadgetUK164 Have you come across an 2000 ver 6.2 having problems with a GVP Combo Board 030/40MHz+Ram+Scsi v4.1. Iam having issues where the machine will boot and run fine with the stock CPU, but as soon as I put in the GVP card it just gets a black screen upto boot and no kickstart shows up. Strange thing is this card did work about 6 months ago and I put the Amiga in the Garage over summer, looking back not a good thing to do in Australia. So thinking it has either fried something on the GVP card or the power supply hasnt got enough juice to power the extra card.

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  4 года назад

      The fact it was working 6 months ago means one of three things - 1) Maybe some corrosion on the A2000 has started or spread etc. 2) Maybe a fault has developed in the GVP card! 3) As you say, maybe PSU - you could measure the 5v rail when powered up to make sure it hasn't dropped to less than say 4.8v

    I haven't been able to get the TF534 working properly in my A2000. The 4MB fast RAM is not detected, it will only work with a 1.3 Kickstart and my 8MB Zorro II card is not detected. When I remove the TF534 and put the 68000 back in, everything works.
    Its a shame though as I bought an X-surf and a Rapidroad, both of which won't work with a 68000.

      @GadgetUK164  4 года назад

      Yes, there are some issues like that with the 534 that I have found since doing this video too. Some things play nice, others do not. That was one reason I went with the MKL 8MB RAM board there. From what I understand the TF536 works better with other Zorro cards. The 4MB fast RAM needs KS2.0 or 3.1 I think in order to be detected - with KS1.3 I think you can manually add it to the system on boot? But the 8MB Zorro II card must just be incompatible with the 534 =/

    • @firstsurname9893

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  4 года назад

      4MB + 2MB is enough for around 95% I would say. There are just several games that need a bit more. And the more you have helps with caching on large titles. Beyond a Steel Sky for example really benefits from 64MB, but will work on 8MB I think (maybe less). Star Trek AGA needs 8MB+ too, but then again that needs the AGA chipset too.

    • @wishusknight3009

      @@GadgetUK164 I see. I ran whdload with 1mb chip and 4mb fast and never encountered problems, but ran a dual boot setup for it. Though the games I liked and played were many that were earlier titles. I have just put 2mb chip on my A2000 to see if it corrects some issues I have had with my video toaster flyer, and have yet to see how it impacts whdload.
      Also I will thank you for this video, as it may have given me the solution I have needed, as to why I have so many issues using my video flyer with my gvp 040 accelerator board. I have no issues using a 28 mhz 030 accelerator which plants in the 68k socket. But the 030 has some fundamental performance issues. It has no ram of its own, only 32kb of processor speed cache, so my only fast ram has to be z2 ram for everything. And using a 2mb RTG card, scsi hard card and the 386sx pc bridge board limited me to 4mb fast..... Which makes RTG almost unusable. When I get some time I am going to see if swapping out some of those pullup's makes a difference. It sure would be nice to use that 040 for once! Though it works perfectly fine without the video flyer installed oddly.

    Seems pretty fast now, can it run doom?

    • @GadgetUK164

      Yes, absolutely! It runs Doom well, but not as well as it would with more Zorro III RAM. I suspect the ZII bottlenecks it a bit.

    Hmm, the busters on my 2000s stay stone cold... Yours gets warm?

      I get some heat on mine, but I have most every slot full including bridge board. So not sure if that has anything to do with it. Not enough for a heat sink really. (video flyer, budda hard card, 386sx bridgeboard, rapid road+usb, s3 rtg)

      I think my buster might not get that hot (honestly cannot remember) - Agnus does though! I think typically buster might only get warm if there are Zorro cards in there.
