Totally! I was a fun little subgenre, I like both Jade and Malice, I almost went with a 10 film list and was going to put both on there, along with Single White Female - although it felt a little more like a stalker flick to me.
Hah that one’s a guilty pleasure for me. I recognize how bad it is but I still enjoy it as kind of a cheap rip off of an actual good movie in Body Double.

I actually quit being a film critic earlier this year to focus solely on 80s and 90s movie content and since then, there has been some exciting growth on the channel. I miss a good Erotic thriller. Anymore the studios are so focused on PG13 superhero BS instead of movies with strong adult content. Body Heat in the 80's always comes to mind, Riskey Business, etc. Just thinking of your last recent video with Single White Female comes to mind as well as Discloser the movie was good the book was even better. Play Misty for Me could be considered the beginning of these type of films. Fatal Attraction as well. So many good ones but you are right Basic Instinct kind tops them all. I really wish Hollywood would make more of these types of films instead of the dogshit they keep pumping out sequels and prequels and superhero crap. Unfaithful is another one that always seems to glue me to the screen, I'll start watching just a minute of it then end up watching the rest of the film Diane Lane was hot as that housewife just the poetic irony as well cheating on Richard Gere the dude who was known as the gigolo seducer in so many films.

Everything that was popular once will circle around again. I think it's only a matter of time before the erotic thriller style of the 90s comes back.
