      Hi m8,
      Can you help me? I am unable to decide which cue i should choose - pureX hxt30 or maybe dufferin moder (no413) though?
      I will be very grateful for any help!

    • @DaveSpicerUK

      Hi Adam, alot of the expense of cues comes in how fancy the butt is. Going plain keeps the price down allowing you to invest in a better shaft. With the PureX HXT range, the shafts are all the same quality so you could just choose their cheapest cue, this tends to apply to most brands.
      One thing to forward think about is getting a decent joint type that you can use across brands. Radial seems pretty good. Make sure you get a good quality tip, medium hardness is a safe bet, will play consistent and last a long time.
      I don't own a Dufferin so I can't comment but you gotta choose what feels right for you. Good cues won't make you a better player. If your stroke is good and consistent you could play well with a house cue. Also, what works well for one player might not for another player.
      So if you can, test drive a cue first or bite the bullet and go for a Predator shaft as they do seem to have set the benchmark for wooden shafts.
      Alternatively, if you can play with a smaller tip, try the PureX Skinny shaft as I reckon this will be comparable to the Predator in this video. I haven't compared them yet but if I ever get my hands on one I will :)

    Great presentation Dave along with some great editing. I've never really been a cue person, i can play with mostly any cue i use thankfully. This video definitely deserves alot more views. Hope you're doing well buddy.

      Thanks bud. Yeh cue wise, main thing for me is having a decent tip! Before this I experimented playing with an old break cue and loved it! That's where I learned what type of tip i liked. As for the rest of the cue, I can't say a 'better' cue makes me play better, if anything it made me temporily worse until i adjusted to it. However, having a nice tip definitely helps 👊

      @@DaveSpicerUK Yes i agree, a good tip helps. I use Elkmaster from Tweeten, the one i have on now has lasted all the way through the record, and months before i even started lol. It's thinning out now tho, puttin a new tip on soon and may record a video doing it. Take care bro and lookin forward to your next production. 👍

    Pure X shaft is very underated. Been playing with it for a while now and it hits amazing with kamui soft. I have a lot of players ask about the shaft because of how well I play. They are stunned when I tell them it's hxt and how much it is. Save yourself some money and try it.

    I have the Revo 12.5 and the Cuetec synergy 12.5. I love the synergy much more than the Revo even though Dr-Dave says the Revo is lower deflection.

    • @DaveSpicerUK
      @DaveSpicerUK  Год назад +1

      In terms of feel, do you reckon it's more to do with the tip? I ask as I'm currently trialling a CF shaft which I'll be reviewing soon. Although it's the only one I've tried it seems to lack personality... if that makes sense...

      @@DaveSpicerUK before I got the Revo, I was playing with a pure X 11.9 maybe which I hit pretty good with.
      I tried lots of different tips on the Revo I never could play quite as good as I was with the pure X
      I played with the Revo for two years before I bought the synergy.
      I love the taper on the synergy and I’m still using the original tip I believe.
      The synergy feels better playes better, sounds better for me.

      @Silver Cue that's really interesting. I was really tempted to get the PureX 11.9 and would love to try it sometime.

    Is predator worth for the money difference with hxt ?

    • @DaveSpicerUK
      @DaveSpicerUK  Год назад

      Hi Sean, the Predator does demonstrate that it's a true low deflection shaft but the price difference is quite high. I played just as well with the PureX. Over time you will naturally adapt to how the cue plays. Some players still use old off the wall bar cues which are standard deflection.
      So long as you have a good tip and the cue feels comfortable, buy within your budget, not worth breaking the bank over.
      For a similar performance cue from PureX, perhaps look at their Skinny shaft. I haven't tested it yet but logic would say that as it has a smaller diameter tip, deflection should be further reduced.
      Let me know how you get on :)
