    Reminded me of growing up when my Dad was a custom Farmer. In 1970 he bought a new GMC 1 Ton cab and chassis dually. He built a steel bed on it with welder, gas torches, full set of Tools, Tire tools, mechanical parts bins, vice and press machines. He chopped 200000 tons of corn silage each year and could completely rebuild a John Deere Chopper (38 model)off the truck. Quite the memories

    Service trucks are usually overlooked until a farmer puts in a call. Then they spring into action. After all, time is money. As long as a tractor is down, it's not making any money for the farm/ operation. I like service trucks. Personally, I prefer the Ford F-450. Because the trucks are fairly large, there really is no limit to what one can attach to them to assist in those various jobs. Kind of reminds me of Squad 51 from the tv show Emergency. They had everything on that truck to save lives. Well, with tractors, one cannot be too prepared. Unless it's so big a job that the tractor must be brought into the dealership for repair, most situations can be handled by these service trucks in the field. In terms of equipment, anything from a small crane/ hoist to a welders station can be added to make repairs efficiently. Without these service vehicles, many farmers would be stuck unless they can perform those repairs.

    Excellent video as always B.T.P.,I like the service truck setup,the only problem with it is the GM built truck,the quality is been so poor on these in the last 40 years,that there is actual talk about GM going completely out of business.
    My neighbor used to run GM built trucks until they broke a frame on one of their trucks,it was still under factory warranty.The dealership said that GM does NOT warranty frames!!.
    Needless to say,the farm has got rid of these Chinese built trucks,for American built Ford trucks.(Ford warranties it's frames too)

  • @noahater5785
    @noahater5785 4 года назад +1

    that is one neat rig, although you might want to get a fuel storage tank and/or fuel trailer and a transfer pump for it so you can refuel farm equipment on site with the thing if needed to save yourself from having to burn more fuel just to drive the equipment to a gas station (assuming they fit in one) to fill up, perhaps a small generator (assuming your welder doesn't do double duty as a generator when not welding), battery chargers, and jumper cables on hand to start up farm equipment that won't start due to dead batteries, assuming the truck has enough usable space to fit all these. Just a few suggestions to expand your capabilities beyond supplying spare parts and tools to fix things. Service trucks also usually have small cranes on them as well for those odd jobs that require a bit of heavy lifting.

    • @iamatt568
      @iamatt568 4 года назад +2

      The farm has two fuel trucks to take care of fuel. I don’t think my truck can handle a 2000 gal tank needed to fuel machines daily. As for the crane, I haven’t needed one yet and if I ever do we have skid steers and forklifts that work just fine. The welder is a generator as well.

    • @NP-ux9xg
      @NP-ux9xg 4 года назад +1

      Noah tractors that big aren't fueled by a 50 gallon tank on the back of a 1 ton truck. If you'll notice at the first part of the field shot there is a tanker truck there to fuel the tractors.
