Hello from Wishek ND. Birthplace of that amazing disk. My first job after high school was working for wishek manufacturing. I was in gang assembly
Very cool. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the great videos
Matt is a valuable employee. He saves that farm a lot of money with all of that skilled labor he is doing with assembling their machines, not to mention the skilled equipment operator he is in the field.
It’s good to have good all around operators. Most of the people in the field work on the machines they run each day.
Nice that you keep your equipment shedded. Just something simple keeps equipment so much nicer when shedded.
Thanks Matt.
Stan Hensley thank you for watching
Matt G What are the dimensions of your shop? It is very nice
Connar Morris it is 120x180
Seems Matt is about the only one working in the shop during the winter months. Nice video as always BTP 👍
Sharp Shooter I have help about half of the time. Especially on big jobs like this one. I do prefer to work by myself on certain things. But lll take an extra set of hands whenever I can!
@@iamatt568 yep know whacha mean
There is also the old shop where projects are going on too and everyone is driving trucks to haul corn to the elevator towards the end of the video you can see a semi filling up as they had to the big shed.
@Doc Savage not sure. 100lbs give or take 🤷🏼♂️
Integrating Matts videos into your channel is an awesome idea. He is a skiilled craftman wether in the shop or in the field. Bring on more Matt videos.
Its neat to show the work that goes into making these machines run. I appreciate Matt sharing his skills.
I'm glad the farm is able to keep matt on all winter like they do. Also, that looks like a beast of an impact. I want one!
Matt is a good machine operator and mechanic. This farm is in the field almost 12 months a year so Matt stays pretty busy.
Cool Video and what a shop.
That guy has one of the biggest shops I have ever seen
Hats off again to Matt for another great video and his hard work. Keep em coming BTP!
Love these shop videos. Thanks Matt!
eddie balentine thank you for watching!
Where do you get one of these disks
Thats quite an operation, that huge farm. Amazing. Very cool video today young man.
Thank you for watching.
Hi yes keep Matt video coming they are good to watch Graham uk
Awesome video Matt! Keep them coming.
That disk is FREAKING HUGE WOOW😀
Massive video btp,
That's some impact driver, would replace the "flogging spanner 🔧 ", is the term we use this side of the pond..
Credit to the highly skilled Matt, great tradesman.....
Some machinery shed....
Great stuff btp.. 👍👍
Thank you for watching.
Can’t even begin to put a price on this place it’s my dream farm and Matt is a great addition to BTP I really enjoy him
Matt gives a good look at what has to happen to make all the iron roll
We have this machine...one huge tip...do not over grease. 2 pumps every 500 acres...or you will blow every seal. Bought ours at 29.5 inches remaining. Sitting at Butler Ag in GF for 2 years. They installed a acres counter to try to rent it to recoup losses. But it didnt rent out...so we got it for under 47 cnd and imported to MB. Takes our mine field stones very well. We have replaced 2 bearings and one disc in 3000ac...after hitting a 6 ft stone going around a corner.
T F we made the mistake of over greasing the gang bearings about 10 years ago. We have since dialed it back to two pumps every other day of operation and haven’t had any issues. Other than rocks of course.
Good video Matt! Thanks for sharing!
@bigtractorpower you and Mike Less always come with great farming videos. Keep up the fantastic work!!!
Thank you. Mike is a good friend of mine. Just talked to him this evening. He has some cool stuff on the way. Watched for a burned up 9R on his channel soon.
That building is awesome
Watchin farm videos. So dang enjoyable! Thanks for your efforts making these!
😁👍👍
A very well run operation, you have very good equipment. That farm has more storage then many elevators.
It’s impressive. I have been filming the bins for three years preparing for a feature video.
That is some seriously heavy new iron , always fun to assemble something new !!!! Ya that's one of the drawbacks of a beautiful new floor , sooner or later it'll get broke in but you're lucky you have a pretty nice lot and nice weather !! I'd seen some reviews on that one inch impact and all were impressive , so was the price , but you've got a legit use for it !!! Thanks for the video , spring is right around the corner for you guys !!
Lee Steele I didn’t want to be the first person to “break it in” plus the sun was shining and I have cabin fever haha.
Wish I had something like that impact 30yrs ago I use to buy 20 or 24ft used tandem disks and make 2 offsets and resell to farmers with smaller tractors love the size of that shop too
Cool rebuild.
Great video, this was really nice to see how Matt assemble the disc, I did not know it come partly assembled,
Thank you for watching.
That farm is huge !
They cover some ground. Family farm with 3 generations involved each day with a long history going back to the 1800’s.
That's an impressive chunk of machinery.
It is a solid tillage tool.
I have the " 1/2 High torque impact, and it's a beast. That "1 impact must really be something.
Brad Leverton I have the 3/8 1/2 3/4 and now a 1” I don’t know where I can go from here lol. I use the 3/8 and 1/2 everyday, they’re the first tools I grab out of the truck in the morning.
@@iamatt568 Damn, you have an arsenal. Lol Thanks for sharing your job and tools sir.
Brad Leverton thank you for watching!
Awesome video! Cool to see these shop videos these disks are massive!
Thank you for watching.
Amazing disk !!
They do a good job.
My family just purchased a wishek disk that is 30 feet wide. I'm excited to use it but here in michigan the ground is frozen. But later on in the end of March I will use it on 3000 acres. Nice video stay safe keep on making the videos they are awesome!
Very cool. You can not go wrong with a Wishek. What will you pull it with?
We will pull it with our johndeere 9560rt tractor. I plan on using our 9560rt to pull it the tractor is nice for runing our tillage machines with .
Awesome tillage team.
I like that they keep the harrows under the shed
Yes. They park everything under roof.
Thanks for all the great videos!
The shop videos are fascinating.
Disking was always one of my favorite jobs on the farm.
its a good edition to your videos to see Matts side of things great vids as always
Great video. The disk looks really heavy👍
This is what I been wanting to see
😁👍
Thanks for the great video BTP and Mike. Here we don't have such big equipment so to setup those machinery is nice too see. Greatings from The Netherlands.
Looks as though he has done that once or twice. Beast of an impact gun!
I remember when my dad purchased a 42 ft. Field cultivator in 78/79 and we had to assemble it.
Very cool. What brand?
@@bigtractorpower I do not remember, he purchased it from a dealer in Urbana / Champaign Illinois. Along with a ford FW60
Cracking video BTP. Keep the coming.
That. Is. A. Nice. Shop.
It is a good sized one at 120x180.
Need to do a equipment/farm tour of the massive operation
Sometime that would be an interesting video. I need to ask permission first. It led one thing to film the machines in the field and another the scout through the whole farm.
bigtractorpower I was just going to warn about that. Some time in the future it could come back to hurt the operation. There are too many thieves in this world.
Holy cow I didn’t realize how big that was until it was parked next to the other Wishek
The other Wishek is a 26ft up front.
bigtractorpower yes and I thought those were huge disc, the size of Wishek discs amazes me, basically large mold board plows
Matt’s employer keeps him busy. Awesome video as usual.
Hello Matt and BTP.
Hi Scruffy. Thank you for watching. Mike Less was glad today you say his farm Museum video.
Great video. Impressive machine and craftsmanship by Matt. Thanks. Oh yeah, I'm a subscriber too.
Very nice disk
It’s hard to beat a Wishek.
Great Video Matt 👏👏👌🏻👍
Those are definitely a big disc harrow
They are heavy duty.
Thanks BTP! I'm curious. Heading to the machinery shed on the left side. It looked like some long " green houses" What would they be used for?
Kevin Paul yes those are green houses. We raise around 400 acres of tobacco. The houses are used to start the plants
Was going to ask the same question. Thanks guys.
I like those Wischek disc harrows
They do a good job.
big operation like that needs a bay in the shop with an over head crane !!
They have a crane set up in the old shop.
Nice Matt, well dang I thought it was gonna b hooked to Billy s big pretty yellow tractor
Bill Booth it was when it got unloaded but I had to unhook it when I started working on anhydrous rigs. Getting ready for spring
Can you ask Matt to do a equipment tour people really like stuff like that on you tube and it would be good for your Chanel
It will take some serious horse power to pull that puppy.!!!
It will be on a 620 hp tractor on triple tires or tracks.
Heck of a tillage inventory near the end
They run 9 of these disks. They work great.
Matt when you were putting on the wheel to the disk. after you get it lined up you can pick up the disk with the forklift and it will slide on alot easier for you.
centsless fabrication I had the wing folded up slightly, it didn’t have any floor contact. It actually went in very smoothly. There we no sledgehammers involved lol 😂
@@iamatt568 makes sense. I wouldn't want to mess up the new concrete floor in the new shop. Got to do everything possible to keep it nice for as long as possible
Wow awesome video
Thank you for watching.
Mega operation there Matt! Around how many acres do you guys farm? Also one silly question. How do you keep the birds out of that open equipment shed? We have birds so bad and there crap ruins paint on equipment. Great video 🙂
John Messina Jr. we harvest around 33,000 acres a year. 11k in corn 11k in wheat and then all the wheat acres are double cropped into soybeans. As for the birds...we’ve tried everything. Nothing works. Our old shop is infested as well.
Its not a good thing........ They screwed up a next generations dreams..
@@iamatt568 ridiculous...
Dave Hughes Farm how do you figure? A family operation growing their business is ridiculous? If anything they have provided future generations plenty of prosperity. Isn’t that the goal?
@@iamatt568 Who in the holy fuck needs 30,000 acres.....? Its crazy That could be farmed by 20-30 other familys....NO offense to you Matt. I am a logical disliker of big wheels...
I can understand why you put those disks in the shed, it is a huge investment in a piece of equipment and leaving it in the elements isn't good for it. It is a big investment in the building to store them in but if you are in the business for the long haul it just makes good sense.
If I may ask, how big was the farm shop they were working in. What size doors and how tall was the height of the building?
Looks pretty impressive to me.
Keep the great videos coming.
God bless you and your family.
Brian Hubbard the shop is 120x180 it has 4 24ft doors on either side and a 65ft hydraulic door on the front. Not sure of the height. Just to guess I’d say 25 feet to the peak.
@@iamatt568 Quit an impressive farm shop. Thank you for your reply.
God bless you and your family.
A lot of rust on some parts of that disk frame for a brand new implement! I also noticed that the gutters on the equipment shed dump out right in front of the footers for the steel supports. On the video it looks like they are already starting to undermine. I wonder why they didn't do something to get the water away from those footers.
Chris Niner the disk has been sitting on the dealers lot for 4 years. It is brand new, just been sitting outside for a long time. And we are coming up with a solution for the water issue 👌🏼
As Matt said it was a new Disk but I sold and sitting out side. High speed disks have displaced some Wishek sales in the Dakotas. This farm likes the deep digging Wishek disks.
Question on grain dryers do they use liquid from the tanks to a vaporizer then to the burners ?
Neal Figary yes you are correct
Thanks Matt and I’m assuming your 2 LP tanks hold at least a transport load each or am I thinking they are bigger than they are ?
Neal Figary I’m not sure the exact gallons they hold but it may be 3-4 loads each. They’re massive.
I can see that your shop is massive but what are its dimensions?
Christian Pedersen 180x120
The big G 42 inch disc I seen was being pulled with a dual wheeled 9560r and when he picked the wheels up on the disc the tractor stopped lol 🤣. Guy said it normally was pulled with a D8 cat and in that video the dozer didn't stop when he let it all the way down 👍
The Big Bud 16v-747 cranking out 1,100 hp pulled two 22ft Big G 42s side by side working up new ground in Florida. Today a 1,000 hp Big Bud 740 pulls one of the twin team Big Gs out on a farm in California. These Wishek disks are a good year after year primary tillage disk.
@@bigtractorpower I hope you get a video of that mister!! I would love to watch it!!
Douglas Oakley maybe the 740 someday. I photographed the 740 in California in 2010. The twin team on the 16V-747 was on a farm in Florida in the early 90’s making new farmland. That FLA farm had the 747 and 740. The California farm bought the 740 and one of the Big Gs. The 747 went to Montana. I think I will be filming the 747 in 2021 on an 80ft chisel plow.
My son uses the Milwaukee tools
👍👍
love the liberal use of anti-sieze.. use it on all my projects.. it sure does help when "next time" happens I got to get me the 1inch impact, my 1/2 inch is great the 1 inch will work great for changing my disk bearings instead of cheater bars on pipe wrenches.
I need one of those discs for a lid for my firepit...
Cheaper too...good luck lifting it...
Curious what that disk weighs assembled and the cost?
I'm curious as to why it doesn't come fully assembled. Is there not a dealer in the area and it is dropped shipped directly from the manufacturer? A size/weight limitation with hauling it fully assembled?
Price, it cost less for the farm to do final assembly, of course, they could pay to have the dealer do the final assembly.
Sam Bartlett the dealer we bought this from is 1000 miles away. We had it shipped straight to us. For transport height and width it had to be slightly disassembled.
@@iamatt568 even if the dealership was a close to the farm. Isn't Alot cheaper for the farm to finish the assembly compared to the dealership? If a new piece of equipment showed up in the middle of the harvest season you would have someone come out and assemble it because stopping in the middle of the harvest is not a option for you.
centsless fabrication you are exactly right. Most of the time we can get things done quicker and cheaper than having the dealer do it. Unless it’s a warranty issue of course, in that case it’s free and we will definitely let them do it...if it can be done in a timely manner.
@@iamatt568 I figured as much but everyone does things different from the next
Matt without shades? Scary stuff
The farm you have looks like my fs19 save, the amount of equipment you have is comical to me
Good video. What are the purpose springs on the gangs? Not the one in the middle.
gerza71 the springs act like a cushion. This disk is extremely heavy, if it comes in contact with a rock the gangs can flex up and back so it doesn’t damage the axles or blades.
Where is this made, weight, and MSRP, excluding freight?
The disk is built in North Dakota. Originally it was built in Wishek, ND but is now at another location in ND. I don’t know the price as the Willrich website does not list it.
Is the smaller one of the to discs he parked in front of in the shed a 28 or 30 foot the bigger one is 34 foot just curious were trying to figure out the best replacement disc for our farm
the_hillbilly transportation the smaller one is a 26 ft model. We have 3 of those and 5 34 ft
We run 22 n 25 footer now we used to use 32 but since we do a lot more no till we cut back but we gotta update equipment in the next year or two. So many brands to choose from now days hard to decide. Where is a dealer located at
the_hillbilly transportation we bought all ours out of different dealers in north and South Dakota. Usually who ever had the better deal. A couple were demo units that had low acres on them
What model of impact was that?
Gary Zamins 2867-20 is the model number. It’s the 1” fuel impact.
How much does the wishek cost??
I do not know as Wishek does not have a price on their website.
@@bigtractorpower I looked online and there are a few 4 or 5 years old ranging from $50 to $60k😬
Matt who built your all’s shop. Also do you know what mfg company made the big lift door on the side of the shop.
Adam Rogers Martin buildings built it for us. We helped with the concrete and door installation. I’m not sure what brand the door is though. I can look tomorrow and get back to you on that.
Matt G ok thanks. We are trying to build a new one soon and looking for some one to install it.
Adam Rogers higher power hydraulic doors is the company that makes the door
Dang that’s a lot of “ugga duggas”
I know how big that fork lift is. It looks little next to the Disk.
Wishek disks are big iron.
They didn't grease it.
What's the name of the farm?
Ryan K Garnett Farms in Hopkinsville, KY
What are you raising in those greenhouses ?
William Jenkins III we raise 400 acres of tobacco. All the plants are started in the greenhouses.
What type Burley , Dark air cured or Dark fire cured ?
William Jenkins III about 2/3 burley and 1/3 dark fired
Do you a truck that comes by to supply nuts bolts misc. or order on line Damn 30 inch is big How often do you get new complete new disc Milwaukee makes life better
Mike Bonge our local Napa store is our bolt supplier. Also we are trying to sell a 2003 model that this one is replacing. It has 1 year old blades and bearings if you know anyone interested 👍🏼
Matt G you have to be a real farmer to utilize a piece of equipment like that. Thanks
Is that tractor 4wd or 2wd?
All that money for a brand new shop with awesome equipment and no overhead crane? For the cost of an indoor beam and trolley crane, seems silly to use a fork lift. Nice to see the cordless impacts being used... we dropped one (Milwaukee 3/4") from 80' off one of our reactor towers at work... it hit three times on the stairs going down... went down to get it and it still worked
What depth could these disks work to?
TheVox probably 12-13 inches to the axle
This farm runs them 5-6 inches deep at 8 mph.
Makes a better plow than an actual plow.
We used to use an IH 596 as our primary tillage tool. Also, we had a 18’ Miller offset disk, and a Hiniker flat fold chisel plow with an anhydrous set up on it. Wish we would have had that Wishek back then! What a disk!
Why didn’t they ship it fully assembled?
John Smith it’s way too tall and too wide to transport all the way from North Dakota.
How much hp tractor does this have to have to work ground with
This farm uses 620 hp tractors.
Thanks keep the great video s coming love watching then
What do they grow in the greenhouses?
All Pro Earthworks we raise 400 acres of tobacco. The houses are used to get the plants started early.
Yall getting it done I grew up in tobacco everyone raised it not much around here anymore my cousin had 300 acres last year .I wish someone would do some videos on raising tobacco/
What is the hp range to pull that disk?
This farm uses 620 hp tractors to run them at 8 mph. They bought the first 34ft in 2003 and pulled it with a 450 hp 9520 which was the biggest Deere at the time. It ran it around 4 mph.
bigtractorpower billy is the only one who goes 8mph 😬 the rest of us are going about 6.5 😏
Ok. Thanks. I knew that it took some high hp to pull it
Total USDA subsidy for Garnett Farms from 1995 through 2019 was $4,955,139. That’s a huge farm. Like the Zimmerman dryers.
I seen a 42 inch disc harrow on RUclips somewhere.
Yes those are impressive. They typically are used to break new ground. The largest 42 inch blade disk I have come across was 22ft pulled by a 750 hp Big Bud. Most disks have 20 or 22 inch blades.
What do they use the green houses for?
Jeff Scott we raise 400 acres of tobacco the houses are used to start the plants early.
Matt G . Thanks for the explanation. Maybe an opportunity for another video for that part of the operation come this summer.
Does Matt have a RUclips channel?
i was wondering why an ordinary forklift like what you see at warehouses might be needed on a farm like this... ...now I know
😁👍👍. Never hurts to have that extra lift around.
that disk must weight 20 ton
What happens when you hit a rock at those speeds
