  • Watch as I take apart an iphone screen piece by piece and explain what the parts are and a little bit about what they do to make the lcd screen function correctly. The insides of a led lcd tv would be nearly identical.

    Hi, is the front and rear polariser make up the actual touch screen layers of the screen?

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  4 года назад

      No, the capacitive touch is different. It’s not related to how the lcd works.

  • @georgepsa163

    This is a very nice video, thank you. Are all these screen layers the reason that under direct sunlight the screen seems to be bumpy inside? I have notice that it does not appears perfectly flat "inside" the glass.

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  4 года назад

      Thank you. I’m not sure I know what you mean by bumpy. So I’m not sure what to say. What iPhone version do you have? I can go outside (I have a bunch of screens) and see if I can observe the same.

      @@FrugalRepair actually I don't have an iPhone at the moment but a S10. Actually I do not know how to either describe it, it is difficult to picture it as well. But in mine s10 and a previous s8+ if I look over a certain angle under direct sunlight I am pretty sure I can see some wrinkles under the glass across with "rainbow" reflections due to the amoled.

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  4 года назад

      Ah, an oled display is a different technology than lcd (like I explained in the video). Maybe you’re noticing an amoled distinction?

    I recently broke my phone (I just ended up replacing it, as it was a cheap $50 phone that was at least 2 years old), & though it still functions, there are pale yellowish spots in a couple areas under some of the cracks. What is that? Even though I already got a new one, I was just planning to use the old one to watch videos & stuff

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  4 года назад

      A key thing to consider is if the lcd is cracked or is it only the glass. With the yellow, I’m not sure since I can’t see what you mean. If you post a photo of it on my Facebook or connect on instagram, I could take a look and let you know my thoughts.

    does removing one of the papers make it permanently damaged(on a different phone)

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  4 года назад +1

      I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking but if you were to remove a diffuser or prism film you would have a noticeable (negative) difference on the screen.

    if the reflector sheet is completely separated in the lcd and if i tape it again to put it back together, will it still work?

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  4 года назад +2

      I’m not 100% sure I know what you mean. The issue with working on the backlight assembly is not letting any light out the sides and making sure all the layers are flat. You can purchase new assemblies fairly inexpensively. Then you just need to solder on the connection.

    Can you make a video how to fix white line on android oled

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  2 года назад

      Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think that would be easily repairable. You could try flexing your phone screen at the corners or put pressure on the top or bottom to see if the line changes at all. If so, it's likely a connection issue, and my guess is, not practically repairable.

    there is brown stain in my psp lcd, how do i teardown or clean it?

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  5 лет назад

      I assume this is from liquid damage? You've have to look online for teardown videos but once you get to the lcd itself you'll want to be careful not to crack the lcd, misplace the order of the polarizing films or backing plates, and not to get dust or debris in between those items that make up the backlight. I'd clean it with isopropyl alcohol.

    Would the phone screen show without the glass on it. With all the parts connected and everything . Just with out the glass .

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  3 года назад +1

      Yes, the digitizer (the part that recognizes the capacitive touch) is part of the lcd screen. The glass is only there to protect the lcd (or oled in some phones) from cracking.

    I was looking for something like this.. I have an Ipad 4 with a weird wrinkled backlight deform, i think one of this filters is deformed, may be for the battery heat or it is out of it original position.. Dou you think that if i try to disassembly the screen can be assembly again?

    • @FrugalRepair
      @FrugalRepair  6 лет назад

      Thanks! If one of the prisms, diffusion film or the backlight film has an issue, you could technically repair it on its own but it is very difficult to keep dust out and align everything again so there is no light leakage out the sides. I haven't taken apart an ipad 4 screen so I don't know for sure but I do know it's the same lcd technology. Are you sure it is a problem with the backlight assembly? I see lots of "repair" services on ebay for dim screens due to bad small components on the logic board. Either way, if you can show me a photo I could probably tell you what your issue is.

    • @LookingMercury3D
      @LookingMercury3D 6 лет назад

      Hey.. Thanks for the response.. I think is one of this filters because when i make some pressure behind the LCD screen it seems that it can be corrected, it is an Ipad 4 A1458..
