Are you struggeling with the volumes of elements of your track? Today I'll explain the way I set levels for my tracks to make sure I get tyhe mix right every time. I'll start with showing my workflow in the production stage of my tracks and then talk about the mixing stage, as well as talking about how to learn this stuff.

Projektor is an alias I started around august 2019. Under this alias I started posting psytrance music with a clear emphasis on theming and a more progressive or mainstream style than other producers. The goal of the Projektor alias is to release memorable music which works well on the dancefloor. Around january 2020 I started posting tutorials and other helpful videos on youtube again under the Projektor alias. Together with these videos I started selling several products which can be used to improve your productions. I have always believed music production knowledge should be shared and that is now one of my main goals with the Projektor alias. Currently Projektor is the only alias under which I release music, videos or products but this might change in the future!

The most important and useful tutorial about music production ever made. I'm serious, the levels of your track & gain staging are some of the most elusive info to try to find out there. What level should the hats be? What level should the vocal be? I used to just use my ears and try to do it that way, and it didn't work well. I have a feeling I will end up watching this video a lot to use as a template for my tracks.
Thanks so much Projektor, you're such a good guy, I respect you a lot and I'm super glad to have found this channel, it's pure gold.

As mentioned in the video, it's not about copying my levels. I won't tell you the levels of my hats or vocals cus you need to find your own workflow depending on the context that you have. My song is not the same as yours so why would my mix be the same?

@@Projektor_music ahh ok, I understand, makes perfect sense. It's tough because I'm a a musician first and an engineer last, so my skills all lie in the making music part, not the mastering/technical part.

@@Dubsteppah It just takes time to learn.. here are ways to speed up the process (hint: my masterclass :) ) but realistically the only way to learn how to set volume correctly is to set it incorrectly 1000 times...

an excellent video idea for this fundamental.
i think that explaining the idea of relative volume should include that words "in relation to" or "compared to" a bit more. just to make the concept clearer.

True yeah, I could have made it clearer...

@@Projektor_music I think you were very clear. I think he was saying in general.
Volume is SO subjective that no matter how anyone talks about it will always there will be room for more clarification

"What levels should your sounds be at? Well, today I'm going to tell you."
Proceeds to not suggest a single level.

did you watch the video my friend? I explain why I did this in the video you were watching. Also technically I did mention kick at -8, bass at -9 and drums at -12, so I assume the answer to my first question is "no"...
