Hello Andrej, thank you for this video! It was very informative. I'm just wondering... I don't have the "Bind" track on my Radiomaster TX16S Max. It is up to date with firmware for Edge TX and the 4-in-1 module. I even installed the US-guy tracks but no "bind"... Where did you get it?
I have so far these Heli's: 2 RC ERA (c138 Bell 206 and C 190 H145 ) 1 Eachine E120 all with optical flow and the two XK's K123 and K124. The XK's fly a lot better than the other helis, with the Radiomaster TX16s or the Jumper T16, Edge or Open Tx (Futaba protocol). The C138 Bell 206 flys better than the C190 and E120, maybe because channel 3 is Pitch and Throttle together. The Eachine heli is actually a rc era model. The stock Tx is the same and on the electronic board is printed RC ERA. I flew the C138 with the C190 stock TX (the grey one) and when lights flash because the battery level is low, the TX is making an alarm sound, so there is a hidden telemetry channel. Except the channels 1,2,3,4,5 and 16(bind) the channels 7 and 8 have some effect on the model (I have to investigate). There is one switch channel on stock RC ERA radio. Is on "position" down throttle trim, the debugging mode. When this channel is activated (TX's red light flashes), you can trim aileron and elevator and the "position" rudder trim is active, in order to increase or decrease the main rotor pitch, aka the main rotor rpm. (Higher pitch means lower rpm and vice versa). They say that optical flow is also deactivated. Lower rpm on main rotor means more scale flight, but less responsive main rotor, I don't know if there is an effect on flight time. When you deactivate the channel, the trims position and the main rotor rpm are stored on model's flight controller and optical flow is on again.
Hi, thank you for your comment. Yes, the XK helicopters are equipped with the FC that offers 6g and full manual mode, and indeed have better flying characteristics. I hope the RC ERA will offer this kind of FC capabilities in their otherwise fantastic helicopters. All that they really lack is FC with full manual mode capabilities.
For me, it was in debug mode with channel 12 at any value (-100, 0 or 100), and I was able to adjust A and E trim on channels 7 and 8 all the time. I will check on channel 9 in the air to see if it adjusts the head speed. I guess this means the optical flow sensor is off? I wonder how to get it out of debug mode.
@@xXxCobraCommanderxXx Great news. So far we need the stock Tx, in order to trim the heli. So we must transfer to the radiomaster the following: a. The debug channel (a switch channel )and a way to know if is activated the debug mode or not. b. The pitch channel that trims the main rotor rpm. (it is on rudder trim on stock Tx. So actually the rudder trim is fake on stock Tx, because the gyro holds the rudder steady). c. The telemetry channel that beeps the stock TX (grey color), when heli's battery is low. Sorry, but Iam not able to test because I overheat and burn the receiver on heli(I can tell from the smell), after 2 sequentially flights, on a hot day (38o C) and ended low rpm on main rotor (max load and stress on main motor). What do you think?
Hi Andrej, I setup the heli but when I move the sticks to check how the 4 channels are working I get a delay. Also when I'm checking the sticks the blades move robotically in stages. This doesn't happen when I check it with the stock transmitter. Any thoughts? Thanks Jeff.
Andrej, i believe it's still not the full function/setup of the stock radio, trims and debug functions are still missing as well as the stock trim behavior Also setting expo can quickly be done by applying it on the input page instead of the mixer page, but hey there's several ways to skin a cat with the amazing EdgeTx. Great video anyways as always
@@siredwarddimaguila True. The debug function doesn’t work on the multi protocol radios (I have not found a way to activate it with the TX16S yet). For that you still need the stock radio. So, my advice is - use the stock radio to properly trim the helicopter in debug mode and save the settings. If I only have a 4 channel helicopter, I can also make the engine off via channel 1. However, the engine only goes off when the throttle stick is in the middle. Do you have a better idea that the engine will stop immediately?
You can. The protocol is still the same but it may be necessary to update the 4 in 1 module with the latest firmware in a case that you would not find the E129 C186 protocol as an option as I have shown in this video ... (for example I had to update my MPM as it didn't show the E129 C186 protocols as an option).
