  • Thank you for clicking on this video! Many of these screenshots come from flathatnews.com , where you can look up any topic involving W&M and do your own research! This video is a reflection of my attitudes towards the College, which obviously varies among students. My best advice to you when considering whether or not to commit to W&M is this: reach out to current students. Find some on instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook ... anything!! Put in the search bar: wm_____ with a club/activity you may be interested in. For example, if you're interested in a cappella, search @acappellawm to find groups and reach out to current group members. I know it seems daunting, but that's the best way to get an accurate gauge of what life is like here. It's something that I wish I did!
    A Little About Me
I am a current sophomore at the College, originally from New Jersey. I am majoring in International Relations, with a minor in economics. I see a future for myself in United States diplomacy or perhaps in the intelligence sector. Law school is a maybe (heavy on the maybe). To be honest, if I get to travel the world with whatever I do I'll be happy.

The word 'claustrophobic' ran through my mind a few times after being accepted. When you literally said the word, my anxiety reacted. Thanks for sharing your real experience.

I found this very useful. I thought this was a very honest opinion of certain aspects of the school one should consider.

I recently toured the campus at William & Mary and came away disappointed. My expectations were high, but the dormitory we visited didn't have private bathrooms-does this mean sharing communal bathrooms? That's concerning.
Security was another worry. While Williamsburg itself is nice, I expected William & Mary to have stronger security measures in place, especially given current concerns across the country.
The campus felt quite dated. While I appreciate the historical buildings, I also want a safe and clean environment, especially considering the higher costs compared to nearby universities. I even noticed mold on some windows, which was off-putting.
Parking was also problematic. Charging $2 an hour for visitors' parking seems excessive and inconvenient. They are in the process of renovation, but we were informed that it will take approximately 10 years to complete. We also learned that some dormitories lack air conditioning...This is Virginia! This is quite disappointing and feels unacceptable.
I can't imagine not having an air conditioner in the room, especially in Virginia where it gets hot and humid! :)
Thank you for your very insightful video

Thanks for sharing. Currently considering this school with our daughter. Video was quite biased in my opinion towards the negative. Curious were you not aware of many of these things during the college tour and searching process or were you misled by others before you committed? Definitely some valid points of concern. Wishing you the best in your future endeavors.

Hi. Loved your video. How's the construction going?

It's going lol. Munroe Hall is set to be done for fall 2024, and progress looks good; we'll see. Old Dominion isn't set to reopen till fall 2025. The giant dorm that's replacing Yates ("West 1") will take until at least fall 2025. Integrated Science Center (ISC) 4 has most of the steel structure up, PBK and the Music Building (arts academic buildings) are done and opened for classes this past fall. The admission office lobby got a makeover over winter break. Back to housing, 2024-25 will have Barrett Hall, one of the nicest dorms, as a freshman dorm, which is nice. Jamestown east, another new dorm, is coming along slowly. If this still matters to you, hope this helps!

@@beetlebug2646I haven’t gotten my RD yet but if I do this will greatly encourage me to go. Thanks so much, I was expected new housing to be done by 2025-26 but looks like there’s gonna be relief and hopefully I can get the new freshman dorm

Wow. Your list of all the things you hate was three times longer than what you liked. Perhaps you should go to another college. I appreciate having a con list but surely there are more good things too.

This wasn't a pros and cons video! I just wanted to highlight some things prospective students should consider - things that aren't advertised. The end of the video explains why I didn't transfer!
