I guess the boss will have more to say about the project going forward. Congrats on the excellent camera work. It's nice that the yard and the skilled workers get used to you running around to capture this fantastic aluminum build. Cheers.
I can’t believe how much precision goes into this part of the build. When you explain it, it totally makes sense. By the way, you’ve got a very cute boss!
You have a beautiful baby! I hope you are able to get some rest. No one understands the amount of time and energy in caring for a newborn, but in retrospect this time will be some of the most rewarding of your lives. The challenges you are facing today will soon be replaced by new challenges with each step forward, and they will be accompanied by new rewards. The boat is also also progressing well. The whole manufacturing process is similar to my background building military aircraft. Both use machined extruded and formed aluminum, and then the parts are hand fitted. The largest difference is that you're welding the boat and aircraft are riveted together.
Wow, can't believe your flipping the boat over so soon, they really have completed quite a bit since starting. Our best to Roberta and young Oliver. Amazing!
congratulations for the baby boy!! looks pretty and sweet!! i wish you had the resources to get a 60 feet boat, for amenities and a baby but...i hope this works...the boat looks very pretty and strong..take care! thanl you for updating us even havent slept at all...
Hi Duca! Hope the little one and Roberta are doing well. The term you were looking for to describe the "bridge" is... a "gantry crane" The crane or hoist is suspended from the gantry. Cheers!
That's the beauty of babies, they first look like the dad to gain their affection, then transition more towards the look of the mother and after the first year that's when people usually begin to notice they look like both their parents.
Congratulations to you both on the birth of your child. I find it fascinating watching the birth of your your second child I suppose you could say. Thanks for sharing ✨🫡
Duca ,,, Bridge === Crane ,, overhead Crane to lift heavy things... love watching your build and your explanation of the build of your Aluminium boat. Thanks
The workshop is an awesome place to have. I have one on our Boréal 47.2 fully equipped with a metal table lathe, and a place for a vice. Super useful, but working on the lathe is a bit cramped. Good luck with the workshop.
Fantastic project. Great to make us live this other birth and to realise the progress of the construction step by step, the difficulty of adjusting all the pieces of the puzzle and the experience of the shipyard. Good luck.
Now that is one good looking boy. Has Duca's face and Roberta's eyes :) What I like is we can see the growth of two new born lol Delos make sure you keep those two in check hehehe
My goodness we have a mini me in the house. Once again congratulations on the birth of you son, I wish him health, happiness and a wealth of experience in his life.
A baby! Made in Brazil, produced in France! Congratulations. Soon you will be "dad... dad --- questions". So lovely to work though the years of new adventures and curiosity. Enjoy!
Congratulations to you both on your new baby!! What a fantastic addition to your life-changing events! Can you enlighten me on something that's been 'eating at me' ever since the boat-build started. First, a disclaimer; I know a little bit about corrosion but I'm certainly not anywhere near an expert. Are you at all concerned about corrosion and how are you planning on dealing with it. I know that aluminum corrodes very quickly with salt water. Quick research on the internet states that special coatings are available. I was just curious to ask; are you at all concerned?
Your video just came up so I watch it and then subscribe. Now I have to go right back in time to get the full story. Coz I’m thinking it’s going to be an incredible adventure. Keep going don’t wait for me coz I’ll catch up ok 👍👍👍 Thanks for sharing 👍
It definitely will. I didn't''t expect to spend so much time at the yard. I'm there everyday and with a new born the van is in stand by. 😅 We will explain more about the dynamics of the videos going forward son. For now we are focusing in making sure the aluminum part as soon as possible. 🥰
Ya se ve el velero perfecto fantásticas noticias, y por cierto el bebe es idéntico que tu jejejej precioso , que sigas disfrutando la vida amigo, saludos desde Malaga España
When welding aluminium, some nasty smoke is created, so the wise thing is to wear a Air Pack while doing this! The other channel about aluminium boat building ,is called ,Distant Shores. Good luck.
Watching the boat progress with interest. Duka, have you learned diapering? Make sure you help with that, and do it with a high degree of skill. Don’t let the women talk bad about you. Don’t let the men’s side down. Hope all stay well. Thanks for the videos.
If I understand the pipe explanation correctly (3:17) a hardened steel anchor chain is going to be pulled back and forth through a long aluminum pipe. Can the pipe be easily replaced?
The Steongall Method of construction consistes in less structured and to compensate with thicker plates. In our design the bottom plate has 12mm the second (under the water line) 10mm and above the water line 8mm. Deck 6mm and saloon roof 5mm. 😎
Bavaria40 Its a small yard and they probably are working small teams on each boat they are building. The design/construction method is as you said dependent on the metal workers skills .. due to the shaped stressed skin inwards design. Which is what drew them to this yard a long way from the sea in the first place.
Are you giving up on the van project? Now with the baby have you decided to continue to live where you are living now? It looks like the hull will be finished soon so that you can start working on it and if I know you guys I don’t see you having a finished hull and NOT working on it. I know I couldn’t resist working on the boat.
What you are calling a bridge is actually an overhead crane. They are very common in manufacturing settings where heavy materials are moved around the work area.
congratulations you two! i also have a plan to have my own aluminum sailboat, so i wander to know how much will u pay to the boat factory include everything? thanks
We will finish the interior and all the systems myself so at this moment to be honest we don’t really know. We will take on baby steps. And equipment will very depending how low on money we are when the time comes. 😅
@@OddLifeCrafting thanks alot for your response, i konw you will finish the interior by yourself, do u know the price framework of this sailboat and the mast?
@@guanyiliu-z7w for that the prices varies a lot according to the aluminum price. If you want to know the price now contact us though our email oddlifecrafting@gmail.com that we will put you in contact with the boatyard
Not a Gantry crane, Overhead crane. Gantry has legs on each side that goes down the ground, or close to the ground. Overhead cranes runs on rails that are on beams that are part of the buildings structure.
Roberta, Oli is already 5 weeks old, 6 weeks is the magic covery time from any operation. f you are not feeling healed, please please get a check up ( speaking from experience !)
Duca, your baby boy is the perfect little version of you! It's amazing how much he looks like you already.

Congrats on Duca's mini copy! Love to all 3 of you from Athens, Greece! May the Force be with you, as newborns do take a lot of our energy!!!

I thought the same.
Yep Roberta didn’t even get a looking 😅

You have a beautiful boat my friend! The designer that did a lot of the design of our boat came from Boreal less then a year ago. 🥰
Nice to see the deck going down. The lead pallet really does make the deck bend.
looking forward fot the next part of the boat build

O barco é muito reforcado em suas estruturas, e agora ja da pra ver como ele é grande.☺️
There is certainly a lot of room you won't know yourselves.

If I understand the pipe explanation correctly (3:17) a hardened steel anchor chain is going to be pulled back and forth through a long aluminum pipe. Can the pipe be easily replaced?
We will add a inner non metalic pipe. Pvc, hdpe or uhmw. And this one we can replace easily.
What's the hull plate thinkness? I'm amazed at the lack of frames and stringers in the hull. Going to be very light.

How much thicker is this construction method more than the full frame style

Looks exactly like dad.
Como Oli é parecido com o Duka.🥰🥰🥰
Dad's mini me, Roberta gets no credit after all of her hard work. Enjoy every minute.
Roberta Just carry Oli, it's mini Luca 🥰
Amazing! Can you explain your decision to have the chain locker in the middle?
Even professionals have to do it again. Unlike me I do it again and again.
precioso barco. como esta el Peque y tu mujer
What type of Keel and rudder configuration will your boat have?

Regarding the chain pipe, won't that be noisy as heck as the chain passes through it? What am I missing?
Gantry crane.
Not a Gantry crane, Overhead crane. Gantry has legs on each side that goes down the ground, or close to the ground. Overhead cranes runs on rails that are on beams that are part of the buildings structure.
Looks good, been watching them build Delos 2.0, which looks massive, its a catamaran. Do you guys have a natural preference to sail mono-hulls?
'bridge' = GANTRY CRANE Duca
It’s called a “Bridge Crane” in the U.S.
Only two person works on your boat?
It seems very artisanal.
Wow many month between order and splash-down?
Roberta, Oli is already 5 weeks old, 6 weeks is the magic covery time from any operation. f you are not feeling healed, please please get a check up ( speaking from experience !)
Where is the engine going to be?
Under the saloon.
It's not a bridge, it's a gantry crane; an overhead shop crane.
You will get an engine room? Take care about you and your sweet family 😉👍🙏
So many SV RUclips sites building new boats, Still think that SV Delos is the best.
