- Zona Norte in Tijuana Mexico is known for it's nightlife and various options of having fun. Even though Tijuana is known to be one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico, many Americans cross the border every day in order to partake in this fun. I will investigate why in my walk and talk tour, first time ever to visit this area.

Hey guys! Been real busy, but here’s a video for y’all.

I have family in Mexico city and Chiapas ,tuxla and comitan . Have fun In Mexico G
It will be nice if you can do more videos on Mexico and other Latin American countries besides Colombia !
In tijuana try there tacos A vapor their filled with shredded pork meat cabbage filling delicious
My aunt ise to live in T J until she migrated to los Angeles ca she use to live on Calle Revulacion Blvd downtown tiwas
Very brave to walk around alone at night
I remember when I was in high-school in SD we'd all cross the boarder into TJ and go clubbing as teenagers. This was late 90s/early 00s. What a time to be alive.
We probably crossed paths 😂
Zools ,baby rock, senior frogs & Revolution 😅
Do you remember Club Animale 😁
Best times! It felt a bit safer (although it wasn't safe lol). All you needed was a driver's license to go back to SD.
@@NinoVigil of course..on Revolution..club Animale
iguanas was HUUUUUUGGGGEEEE I think U2. they had 91x so a lot of alternative bands played there. oingo bingo.
I absolutely love Tijuana! The people, food, music, it just evokes life! It gets a bad reputation.but life is not fun if u live in fear. Many are trying to survive but they have Allways treated me with Respect!
TJ looks so much nicer now than it did 20 years ago. You sparked my interest for sure 😊
Do you live there if so what’s a good area to live and tips?
@@dinodiamondz317zona Rio is one of the nicest. Not so cheap though...
I really enjoy your channel, man. You have an authenticity and down-to-earth nature that is just nice to be around in today’s world.
when shorty turned around twice i would have folded right there. david more composed than me.
This brings back memories. Thank you for the vlog.
Im from LA and have been going to TJ for a few years now. It's about a 2.5 hour drive. I like going more to the beach city of Rosarito since it's small and walkable
I used to go myself with my Ex in the 80’s when living in LA. We used to spend the weekend there, about every six weeks.
Stayed at the Fiesta Americana and had a great meal in our favourite restaurant.
We also went down to Ensenada a few times and ate at El Rey del Sol! Awesome!
I was there in January…there is more military presence after a shooting happened in front of one the clubs a few months ago
Amazing camera, such clear footage!
What kind of camera is this?
Probably DJI Osmo Pocket 3.
PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS! I'm pretty sure dude is hiding his camera somehow. If you go to the putas area in ZN with a camera you will cause serious problems.
Yeah really bad enough he's already asking where the Arco is and zona Norte everybody knows what that is I'm looking back and have the camera and all that stuff you better off just going home if you're going to be acting like that anywhere you go there's people that can make you but I've walked around Tijuana and then lots of seen a lot of part of Mexico that are really dangerous supposedly nothing's ever happened to me keep your eyes open and stay out of the bad parts I have stayed at the casinos overnight all night nothing's ever happened to me just be careful blend in and stop asking questions and talking to people dude can't trust nobody don't want to stand out what are you there for just show us how bad it is have you been to Los Angeles Orange county lately that's where you should be fearful
Too many people disappear period in mexico in them seedy towns. Just dont go period
I've never had a problem doing that their.
@@House808-z8j If you walk around a good part of there while holding a non hidden camera and upload the video then I will believe you.
@@derekforde7164that’s what this guy just did…he walks around all areas. Check out his Medellin video
Cleaner than Los Angeles.
Right 😂😂
👍Long intro of GTA Tijuana. Stay safe and thanks for the video
David,
Your fans are glad to see new content!
Your new camera looks good at night. Dark shadows combined with multiple bright artificial light sources seems like a good test of it's low light capabilities. Focus and depth of field look good too for outdoor scenes.👍
Because you were able to post this video from it after wandering around a sketchy part of Tijuana alone at night, I think we can also conclude it's relatively theft resistant.😄
Nice Videos David keep going!! Like your videos too much ❤ Greetings from switzerland 🇨🇭 😊
Great video, the new camera was money well spent. I used to hit up Tj with friends, rarely by myself, almost every weekend during '98-'02; we'd usually club hop between Margaritaville, Senior Magueys, Senior Frogs, Iguana Ranas, Club Bananas, and occasionally, the infamous (depends on who you ask) Club Adelitas. I'm certain that I'm forgetting a few, we were usually drunk before taking the cab drive to TJ. I don't think any of these clubs are still in business, it looks like HK is the newer/bigger Adelitas. Anyway, stay safe and keep up the good work.
Don't be so paranoid David, typically tj is fine as long as your there to have a good time.....if not you will find trouble, lol
I use to walk alone there regularly from early 2000 to 2009. The polica harrassed me more than locals but one time 3 kids tried to surround me on the walking bridge but I split them up using the stairs and the one trailing me realized I had bad intentions when we got to the top... lol
Good stuff man. If I knew you were heading through, which you kept under the wraps for obvious reasons, I would have shown you what/where. I've been through the streets from tourists areas and non-tourists areas all the way from daylight afternoon to 8am-11am the next day being out all night. From 2:15am-5:15am, its insanely dangerous bro. Just giving you a quick tip. Nothing more. Nothing less. Be safe. have fun.
Love hearing David’s Colombian accent talking to Mexicans. The difference is stark haha
I’m Mexican and I love the Colombian accent , so nice haha
As an American i didn't even notice. Interesting
I was thinking the same thing
you are in the commercial district calle segunda to be exact the district is Centro you are about two blocks east and south of zona norte the red light district, for the clubs and night life you would want to check out avenida revolution
In my college years, approximately 02-05 we used to go down there every weekend. get a lil but of weak coka, a lady of the night and a bunch of tacos. Goid times until they kept arresting me and told me i couldnt ever come back
You'll love San Felipe and Ensemada, Tijuana is beautiful..have fun G and be safe
Be careful when you straight up asked that working girl where she’s from. She could even think you recognize her from your town or something and you might expose her. These girls probably have a lot of connections in Mexico
For future videos, you should walk with a hidden camera or one of those spy cameras on the red light district.
Hello David, appreciate the video today, back in the day pre 911 we used to drive down from SoCal Orange County to Surf @ K38 Baja, Camp on the Beach and the locals charged $20 US to enter the Beach. Best of times was the place to be. My son now 21yrs works the Polaris Supreme Sport Boat out of San Diego, Blue Fin Tuna the Target. My fiancee is Cali Colombia we are heading to Florida soon...Keep up the video content. Thank you, Jackson.
Tijuana is like any other place in the world, if you hang around with the wrong crowd you will pay the price be safe my friend.
Really Like This Video it really shows you how Tijuana is 👍
It doesn't I'm from here Tijuana and it's not even close it's actually way better than that
I grew up in National City just 6 or 7 miles North of Tijuana. Since I was a baby I went there to visit family there and in Ensenada. Been on the beaches in Baja and in the sea of Cortez. I moved to New Mexico when I was 14 and missed out on going to Tijuana to party. Instead, we had Juarez MX on the boarder of El Paso TX. It's a whole other animal. A lot scarier than Tijuana. Rougher, tougher and meaner. The city police are harsh. You WILL give them your money to get cut loose if they ever arrested you. The city is dense and complex enough where they can take you anywhere and get your money, jewelry, etc. Then you have to walk to the boarder to go home. Me and some friends went down there on motorcycles my senior year and one of my buddies was riding his dad's 76 Sportster, we were all on Harleys, and he got caught up in a bar fight across the street from where we were because he wanted to chase the girls so to speak. The city police got his last $30-$40 bucks and they keys to his bike. He had to ride on the back of one of my friend's bike all the way back to NM. Nobody could do anything about it. After I graduated high-school in the late 80s, I went to Tijuana to eat and have a few drinks. It was like I was still in California. Clean and nice looking.
Good video, David. Stay safe. Be careful. Those streets are shady at night. I have been there.
The truth!
the good starts at 10:30
I will be there, tonight!. My flight leaves the NE Part of the USA and I'll be in Zona Notre at midnight!. Gonna see how this goes!.
How did it go?
¿Como te fue?
@@ezee.33 he got muerte 'd by some killer panoche'
You must have concealed the camera in the Zona. The girls always turn away if they spot one. And it's dangerous to film openly in the ZN. A lot of guys there who don't wish to be seen on camera. Even the policia will use your filming as an excuse to hit you up for a mordida.
Im a whiteboy from San Clemente, CA. Ive spent ALOT of time in Tijuana over the years. I started going there in the late 90's after i turnes 18. I couldnt drink in the US, but i could go to TJ, usually Revolucion, and go to Safari/Escape club and buy all you can drink for $12. After the club, i would always end up in Lochiwilla at Adelitas or Hong Kong, or just find Diamanda on the street to poke on. Ive continued to come to TJ over the years, at least once a month, to buy pharmaceuticals, eat cheap food, drink cheap beer, and poke on beautiful Larin American women for cheap. The thing that shit TJ down was not Cartel violence, but 9/11. The Border became much more strict and difficult to cross for many years. Then the influx of migrants from south of Mexico kept it tight. It is still an inviting spot, and alot of fun if you know your way around. If your looking for trouble, youll find it. Go from point A to point B, and dont dilly dally.
It's been a long time for me . But I never had a problem love the place !!!!
You got steel balls to be doing this man.
I heard Tijuana is dangerous if your a foreigner. Had no idea it was modern looking looking after seeing this upload. The tijiana in my head is what is saw in La Bamba! Lol
You can definitely walk around that part of Tijuana with a camera just like anyplace else
Welcome to the magical world of Disneyland. Once you go. You'll be living there a while. You can check out anytime you like. But you will never truly leave.
I was in TJ the night of September 10th 2001. Some friends made some friends and we didn't end crossing back over the border until the early morning. We were greeted by a reporter on the pedestrian bridge asking us what we thought about the news. We had no idea what he was talking about but the border would be closed for weeks just hours later and the world would be stuck to their televisions.
Was your camera visible? I noticed no one looked the other way.
Everywhere is dangerous but I been there Everytime it's safe for me though ...
Go to Hong Kong , AdelitAs closed , Chicago club and tropical bar
Best video is during the night, great job for doing this video!
what's the camera you use here? It works well in the low light
Great colors and resolution with the camera. I used to shoot New Orleans nightlife back in the late 90s to early 2000s, and used mini dv tape in a higher end Sony TRV 900. We could only dream of the quality you are getting, and with less expensive equipment.
I suppose the risk there lies with getting caught in the crossfire of a cartel war. Odds of that would be quite small. Those clubs with girls would be carefully managed, and risks to tourists next to nil. It's refreshing hearing some varieties of music in this vid. Colombia's obsessions with reggaeton grates on my nerves quickly. Thanks, great vid and be safe.
That camera shoot very decent images, you can keep using it because is very sharp and for been night, reproduced good colors. Thanks for makes time to bring us with you.
I live near there on US side, I know well that area and love this video.
"research". naughty boy 😂
How were you hiding your camera?
ur brave bro thanks for posting
Camera looks amazing. Clear, even in low light!! Please don't make this one of those creepy red-light channels, dude.
Thanks man. I just took advantage to film since I was already in the area with the tv crew.
I hope it does become a red light channel
What is that
@ChristopherWallbank-di9hj Yessir 😆
@@LifewithDavidThey tried to snatch you up in that red light district 😂
We used to go to TJ, Rosarito Beach and Ensenada all the time back in the 80s. Long live 91X!
What new Camera is that David?
Pocket 3?
Internal or external mic?
As a DRONE PILOT, I have attempted several times to record at la Coachella in Tijuana, especially for Hong Kong area, BUT it looks like you need to some powerful connections to film the strip or just film it hidden and not get caught.
I went to Matamoros Tamaulipas alone and not a good feeling you can’t even go out at night. I watched Los Vatos. (Cartel) Rob a tractor trailer we were right behind it I thought we would be stopped next and they would take my gringa a$$. But luckily they kept going. They were everywhere. Tijuana is more touristy. Try going to Tamaulipas where I went and see what ya think. I went right after all the bodies were found hanging off the bridge there near Victoria
1:17 on the contrary , the police and military loitering around a well lit area is the safest thing about that route you were taking
This camera is much better Than your last camera
I been in TJ back in 2004 . Revolución is nice the food is great great night life but yea further on the road is dangerous.
me too lol. 2 nights back in 04 on revolucion
It is a dangerous place, but not for petty theft, like you said, not as much as other places
Crime can happen anywhere, and Tijuana is dangerous mostly like you said for drug dealers and cartel activity. If you stay away from that you should be OK and you know it is the president of the arm guards, the national guards they are the ones that took over the federal police and these guys are helping the public so you should feel protected when you see them I would trust them a lot more than the Regular police 👮♀️ Columbia and Central American countries are a lot more dangerous but be careful anywhere you go and good job I go there all the time I’ve been fine thanks be to God
Well Since I’m here in the area why not come, it’s for you guys, not me 🤔😂
He was like alright that’s it for the video. Cut….now I’m going back to that girl with the mask. 🤔😂
Camara is great. Go over to Zona Rio. Much better but the walk over from the Arch . . . at night . . . no. Zona Rio is full of commercial banks and better medical/dental clinics. The avenue, I forget the name is a series of classic traffic circles with large bronzes the last being Abraham Lincoln as you head south. If you continue in that direction you enter the area with the soccer stadium, country club, and more affluent residential areas. The other area that I would check out would be Playas out on the coast. The new camera is great but you walked through some interesting areas (aka sketchy). You were on the end of entering really bad areas before you found Zona Norte. That area just to the West . . . Is off limits if you like your things and your safety for sure. Be safe, my friend.
Yea, Coahuila is wild.
Dude it's not that serious unless you stay there in that section don't go to the 6th Street go down to caliente to the perdomo where the nicer area is or go to Las playas the casino right there in caliente at the hipodramo is really nice zona Rio
I have been to Tiajuana and have walked the streets there. I found it to he safer than walking the streets of New York.
Ive lived there for many years. Youre right dont get involved with the wrong people and you good. Of course sometimes innocent people fall victims to crime, but that happens everywhere.
Been going since the late 70s. A lot in the 80s. Last time was 2015 or 16. Good times.
2018. Kind of wore out for me. I'd been going down since 87. 31 years of it and I just got tired of it.
What do we look out for to make sure if and when you get a "date" with one of them, there is not a group of dudes waiting for you in that room?
Won't happen if you pick a girl who stands against the walls. A paradita. They're licensed and affiliated with the hotel they stand near. The danger is going with a "walker." A girl who strolls the streets, soliciting guys she encounter. Usually they're drug addicts, and anything can happen if you accompany them.
I haven’t been in about 20 years but it was fun back then and we never got into anything too bad. I think it’s probably worse now than when I used to go. I enjoy the video brings back memories!👍
Seems like Tijuana is much safer than for example Medellin, or? I never saw you walking there at night with your camera. I noticed you said "Listo" at the end of some conversations which means "Ready" if I´m right. Is that slang usage for something like ok or "entiendo",or? I never noticed you use it in Colombia. Greetings and Best Regards
Slang for ok or entiendo. Were I was filming wasn’t safe at all to film because it is controlled by very dangerous people.
@@LifewithDavidThanks for your answer. Wow. So I had a totally wrong impression from the circumstances
@@JohnDoe-fz7hz No you were I disagree with David on this one, yes there are cartels in Tijuana but they are not controlling areas I have lived down there for years and while I like David as a youtuber. A quick trip to Tijuana does not make him an expert, I trust and agree with what he says about Medellin but not Tijuana. Having lived there for years and building a house in Puerto Nuevo . Tijuana is one of the biggest economies in Mexico many people work in the US and live in Tijuana hence iphones, expensive cars and cameras are a very common sight.
I’ve been working here almost a year and have inside intel on the dangers in Tijuana
@@LifewithDavid If even possible it would surely be interesting to hear more about the dangers to avoid and keep visitors out of trouble
This video is as close to TJ as ill ever get,,,If something goes wrong there and u end up in Jail,,or cartels.. nah,, I went once about 20 years ago and had a good time but that was my last time,,things are more dangerous it seems today
When I lived in San Diego from 90 to 93, we went into TJ dozens of times. I wouldn't today. Just too much to risk it anymore.
Also you are not in the backstreets of Tijuana. You are in the downtown tourist zone which is mostly safe
What happened to Adelitas? Did HK take over the building? Those ATM machines inside the wall used to be the building of HK Ithink. Things have definitely changed.
Adelitas was closed due to sex trafficking, mainly they were employing Colombian girls and Venezuelans who violated immigration laws. Hong Kong only allow mexican girls to work last I checked.
Adelitas got shut down due to underage prostitution that was secretly going on in the basement. The owner did not pay the $500,000 dll fine, so it remains closed
Interesting video, as usual for you. Good commentary as well. Have you been to Mexico City lately? I would love to make a trip there. We used to go there when I was a child to visit relatives, and then again after finishing university. It became known as quite a dangerous place for various crimes, but not sure how it is now. Good luck with your film.
Camera quality it good bro nice an stable
Be careful there especially at night and with a camera even if fluent Spanish and of MEX heritage. I know someone on one of my "monger" boards who was seriously injured walking from the arch to ZN. He was assaulted by a group of 6. I cross the border, pick up the Zona shuttle to HK/Cascadas then stay in the small area especially at night. During the day I will walk down to the Cathedral and large shopping center.
I like TJ but getting more expensive to play and since live in Texas can also get to Costa Rica and MTY efficiently. I still like Medellin Colombia and blend in with my basic Spanish and courtesy however giving it a pause for awhile at least for shorter trips.
I might retire from my 9-5 job in the US to Cali however in 1-2 years where I can work remote! You know it is not as hot compared to Texas!
CDMX and GDL are coo
Just catching up with your vlogs. Somehow I knew you were working in Mexicali but I didn't want to spill the beans in the comments. Idk why but the clues you gave away (it being insanely hot and in the desert), I was saying to myself, he's probably in Mexicali haha. Lucky guess. Keep up the good work bro. I live in Ocean Beach SD and go to Baja every couple weeks to surf and hang out. If you got time to have a beer, te invito compa.
What is with kid that seemed to just tumble up onto the sidewalk at the 14:35 mark ?

Cool video man. As someone from Southern California who spent a lot of time in TJ, you got away with a lot recording the girls. That’s a HUGE NO. You never wanna record the workers, at least not in Mexico. The girls may or may not tell you anything, in this case seems like none of them did. But who will likely tell you something is the people they work for. You don’t want to upset those people.
Do as you please. Just giving some advice.
Is it safe to bring your car there if you are getting dental treatment?? Do Hotels have safe parking??
Go to Hong Kong Club. Sunday night should fine, not too crowded like Saturday and Friday. I do my investigation there all the time.
