I'm trying to get the "Justice" bass tone, and I'm seriously considering buying this pedal...Can you explain how the sidechain works on it? I'm looking for a way to rig this to my drummer's kick drum so that the bass is compressed on every kick. Is this pedal capable?

I've always played a 4-string direct to an amp but I just got my first 5, so I've also been shopping for a bass comp. to help even-out and clean-up and fine-tune my sound. I was also looking at the Diamond since they're both the same price. Have you used the Diamond yet?
Same here, these two seem to be the best. I'm also wondering if there are any rack-mounted compressors that'd do the same job as I prefer putting pedals (especially a comp or an EQ) on top of my amp anyways.
