Was a lot of fun watching you two in this video :D And also really useful to hear Fran's thoughts on what worked and what didn't work in terms of actually wearing the clothes!
Hahaha it is funny to hear your dual thoughts about ratings, your feedback being about construction quality and her ratings being about how often she wears them, the practical purpose they serve in her wardrobe.
Ahh, Noémie I watched this as soon as it was released and left a nice message, but apparently something went wrong and my comment never ended up being posted. 😵💫 Anyway, I'll leave it now: You two are so adorable together! 😭 Fran didn't pull any punches, and you were a good sport about it. It was nice to finally "meet" Fran. And of course, you're very welcome for the Kofi. I'm glad I was able to give back for all of the hard work you put in to creating enjoyable content. You've become my favorite sew-tuber, and I sincerely appreciate you!
Oh thank you 🥰 I thought you were busy and would see it later. I spent the week telling all my friends I got a bad score on a grey turtle neck because she chose it grey though, not dropping that one 🤣
Such a fan video to watch! So cool you've made so many pieces for Fran, I am more of a selfish sewist and my partner just earned one shirt so far 😂. Also yay for international relationships! I relate so much to having a partner who is native English speaker and makes faces when I am mispronouncing some English words 😅. Persephone is ticky!! I would love to hear your wife's thoughts on differences between clothing/style culture in Belgium and Australia! I'm Polish and my boyfriend is Irish and my biggest shock was wearing shoes inside the house 🤯. Polish woman tent to dress up for going everywhere, even grocery shopping, while I think Ireland is much more relaxed. Another thing I would think of is that Irish seem to be so indifferent to weather - raining and windy? Short sleeves are fine XD
I'll see if we can chat about this in a future video, thanks for the idea! Yay for international relationships 🩷 One shirt ha ha, I think that's the case of many partners. No shame, you sew what inspires you 🪡
LOVED this video concept !!! Noemie, you have such great interviewing skills ! And of course Fran, your straightforwardness is perfection. Love you both 💓
Another week of 2 La Fraise videos, what a treat! 😊 Francesca (hope that spelling is ok) is such a good sport, such a fun concept for a video. It was lovely spending the evening with you both (and a cuppa and some hand sewing) after a crazy work week! I too can confirm, it's a skivvy! Although my brain automatically thinks "Wiggles" when I hear the word 😂
I guess as long as you don't thing Wiggles when you see the skivvies I made, we're good 😅 What hand sewing are you working on at the moment? And I actually have a secondary video for the coming 2 weeks too! My calendar is exploding 😱
@@LaFraiseSewsssooooo I recently managed to find some older Lise Tailor fabrics for $10/m 🥳 I'm making the free Sew Over It Ruby skirt (quite similar to your wife's red skirt) from her "Olga" fabric (the same as your dress developer top). I splured and bought matching pink buttons 😍 so last night I was hand sewing my buttons (yay) and fixing some of the waistband where I failed at stitch in the ditch (boo). Very excited for more double drops! I know you will, but I feel obliged to say: also make sure you fit in some down time! 😊
@@Lily.Mac56 Down time what? 😅 No, I'm being good about it. Not much fun sewing for me this season (which is fine). That skirt is going to be so swishy and lovely! (Lise Tailor fan club yay!!)
I loved this! I started sewing because as someone who is slightly taller, I kept running into the jumpsuit wedgie issue 🙂I also want to try to make jeans but I'm still mustering up the courage. Editing to add: In the US skivvies means underwear 😂 Gotta love the difference between British English, American English, and Australian English!
Loved this video with your special guests! I've had the same comments back from my boyfriend about the fabric he chose (you can't win!). Hahah I haven't heard skivvy used since high school (yup another Australian here), isn't it great being able to make exactly what your loved one wants and so it fits them well, sewing is the best!
Love your dynamics! Also the way you got low key offended by the ratings and the points to be improved you didn't already know about beforehand haha I love how much of Fran is in your makes (saying this knowing her only from this video, but I hope I can get across how it's meant). You can immediately tell that your makes for her are so different from your makes for yourself 😊 This was such an enjoyable video to watch!
Yes! I guess that’s the magic to making your clothes (or having them made for you if you’re lucky like Francesca 😄), you get stuff that really matches your style and personality. 🪴
Actually your wife would look good in anything, she has got a very slim built which I wish I had too😢. The orla dress by French navy is so cute!! I love love the fabric!!❤❤
Not everything is flattering on slim bodies, and there are flattering silhouettes for every body shape! I hope you find some cuts that you love to wear and make you appreciate the body you have. ❤
Hey, I can't disagree, I also think my wife looks very good 😊 But I have to also agree with @linzeeb4. Not everything suits her and not everything fits her (luckily she has me to make sure her sleeves and jumpsuits fit 😉). But you know, I ALSO have me for my curvy body and to make stuff to fit that shape. I feel like ready-to-wear clothes have thought us to feel bad about ourselves, but once you wear clothes that are made for you and fit you and suit you, it's a game changer 🩷 I'm sure you're beautiful and totally joins @linzeeb4 in wishing you find the shapes that make you feel your best 🌟
I was told by this video to ask my Aussie partner what a skivvy is, and he looked at me strangely but eventually said the same thing you did. "it's just a tight turtleneck top"
Really enjoying this review! And yes, I'm Australian (from Wollongong & Sydney) & always call fitted, long-sleeved, high-necked tops skivvies. Occasionally, I heard someone use skivvy for a servant who does the dirty work, but general use is always the clothing.
Regarding the waistbands, you can add extra & stiffer interfacing. Maybe make samples so that you can refer back to the combinations of fabric & interfacing, & record which ones wear best. You could also starch the waistbands, even if you don't iron the whole garment! 😉
Just coming back from class and we were told we could use some very thick ribbon in the waistband instead of interfacing. I'm very intrigued to try this!
This was a lovely video! She's lucky to have you make her so many stunning things, and you're lucky to have her make all the food. (I know, because my boyfriend does too, and it's the best.) Is there a way to support you on Ko-Fi without a Paypal account? Maybe Stripe?
OK, just to put things straight, in Australia your top is called a skivvy, but I wouldn’t have told you that’s what it’s called because growing up in England a skivvy was a servant who did menial tasks. Personally I would call it a turtleneck, or if the neck folds over, a polo neck. So don’t blame me for any confusion…the things a mother gets blamed for 🙄😘
I think she was a good sport, I did ask her to rate the clothes and I feel like I'm the one pointing out the technical issues. It's fine for me if she says what works or not in her wardrobe, it's what I asked for 🙂

Fran is very lucky. You made a lot of lovely pieces for her and ofcourse you learn from your mistakes. Skivvy’s with extra long sleeves!

😍
It could be interesting if you re-did one of the items "but better" with all your new knowledge, X years later. And see how Fran rates it again hihi.
Obvs, let her choose the fabric 😅
Precisely, my strategy is going to let her choose a fabric she likes, she throw it on her, call it draping and voilà, a 10/10 garment 😄
