TRIP REPORT / VIETNAM AIRLINES [PREMIUM ECONOMY] 787 London Heathrow - Ho Chi Minh

- Today, I flew the 787 of Vietnam Airlines from London Heathrow to Ho Chi Minh in premium economy. The crew was really nice and the service was great. However, the IFE wasn't working properly, to the point where I had to change seats 3 times.

I flew this exact route with Vietnam Airlines, in the same seat, in November 2022. Very comfortable seat, tons of room & recline, good food and excellent service from the crew. IFE was dodgy, but I rarely bother with it anyway. Overall a superb experience.
Vietnam Airlines is one of the most underrated Asian airlines with friendly cabin crew, exceptional services and inflight meal with amazing experience. Hopefully, Vietnam Airlines should increase their flight frequency to LHR from both HAN and SGN as well as changing its business class seat product on A350 and premium economy seat product on B787.

Great video and many thanks! Any requirements around wearing face masks? Its still "mandatory" on Vietnam Airlines website but doesn't (thankfully!) look like its being enforced on the flight?

Interesting to note some airlines have 2-4-2 pe on a350 and 2-3-2 on 787's.
Paint issue on the wings of the 787 is a common issue. The A350 paint flake only became more publicised because of the Qatar airways lawsuit
I didnt know the 787 had the same issue. I suppose it would be towards the bottom of the Boeing "things to do" list atm whatcwith all the other major issues they have - yikes!

How much does it cost for return tickets . Can you please advise if it is cheaper or more expensive than Emirates ?
Unfortunately, I took this flight a while ago, and I believe it was purchased with miles. However, if you're flying to Southeast Asia, Vietnam Airlines might be a better option. It allows you to spend a full night onboard, which helps you avoid fatigue upon arrival at your final destination. For flights to Australia, I would recommend Emirates. While the prices might be similar depending on your final destination, in my personal experience, Vietnam Airlines offers some of the most competitive prices in the Asian market. I hope this helps!

Overall it was a very good flight. I travelled Premium Eco but all classes were looking good. Nice and kind crew, descent food, flight on-time.
Any reason why this flight is not happening during this year? Only till end of march?

thank you for your comment! you can actually access the plaza lounge with a high SkyTeam status. The ticket itself does not come with lounge access.

What is the mask situation now? I know this was filmed almost a year ago, I am hoping the mask mandate has been dropped before I go to Vietnam in a few weeks.

Same thing with other airlines
Not sexy... I have enjoyed their Business Class a lot,.and reviewed it on RUclips. But VN Premium Economy is so plain Jane...
