I love how you talk so much about aviation in your videos, such as about bamboo's crisis or the new Long Thanh airport. It shows the time and research you had spent for a video
Great vid... I have flown vn premium economy in their B787 and A350. I very much prefer the B787 PE to that of the A350. The 787 is 2-3-2 where as tge A350 is 2-4-2. The PE seats in B787 just feel a lot more spacious, comfortable and premium to that of the PE seats in A350
Great video. Bonus points for the '-action', status-scoring advice, and comprehensive leg-room reporting. I think I would have bought that cabin option.
It would be good to see more premium economy content. Generally that would be the cabin I'd look at first. Depending on the airline, aircraft and route.
I'm always looking! Just waiting for something to actually be worth the price. I'd really like to try EK Premium Economy but they charge more than many carriers charge for business class for the privilege lol.
Great video. I have never seen them use Dreamliner on short-flight SGN-BKK. Last year I flew from SIN to SGN and SGN-BKK both A321. SGN-BKK was supposed to be A359 but usually only A321. Very rarely big aircraft on short flight
I would like to correct you that here in Vietnam Airlines the narrowbodies are workhorses. As you may know the Hanoi Saigon corridor is one of the busiest and at a time in the pandemic the busiest air route in the entire world, and most of HVN's widebodies don't return from overseas flights until the late morning-lunch time, which means in the morning rush its almost entirely a321s handling the rush. i would like to say as a person who is familiar to the carrier that it is quite 50/50 here, cause the narrowbodies do still operate medium haul and the widebodies do operate medium-short haul alongside intercontinental routes. again nice video i really appreciate this review
Oh you enjoy these corrections lol. Work Horse to me is the most productive… in that case, I consider the wide bodies to be the work horses on the HAN-SGN route since the majority of pax are carried by them on a daily basis.
For the first time I saw The Flip flop traveler not wearing flip flops ☺️. I am sure there are videos with shoes on but I just noticed it today. Great video as always!
Such a stunning livery, one of my favourites! Nice to fly wide-body on such a short hop. Unfortunately the ticket prices are indeed sky high (no pun intended) at the moment. Thank you for the review and look forward to the next video of the Regent 🤩
Guessing for the letters it's YYZ to LHR in Air Canada Business. Could be any canadian airport I guess though, and could be domestic, but taking a punt :) Hope you're well and thanks for another great video!
hey Kevin! Thank you for your review!! I personally do think that vna is probably the best airline now to fly from sgn and han to bkk now! I look forward to your EY reviews to LHR too!! (oh yea, if you happen to do a lot of repositioning flights to/from saigon/hanoi on vna, could you please do a review on that too? Thank you!!
@@tfftohh that's understandable! all the best for your channel and payoff, Kevin! i'm sure all your hard work and meticulous efforts will pay off very soon!
5:52 i would like to correct that if the market expands the likelyhood of HVN flying to VDSA/SAI (Siem Reap Angkor intl) is high as the airport can handle up to 747. Also i remember eating that exact sandwich in august 2023 when i went to Bangkok for a tournament, surprised it didnt change lol.
Hi Kevin, I will be taking the Emirates 5th freedom from SIN-PNH and the Qatar 5th freedom from PNH-SGN in June. After a few days in Saigon, I want to fly to Bangkok on Vietnam Airlines (that is how I found your video lol). However, is one of their daily flights to BKK always on the 787 or does it change to a narrowbody sometimes?
It’s generally VN607 which has a wide body operating some times per week. Might not be easy to find a wide body scheduled based on the time of the year but if you do find it it would be unlikely to be swapped out. Lost count of how many flights I’ve had on VN and have never had an aircraft swap- especially now that so many of their 321s are grounded.
Thanks for the video Kevin. Could you please expand on how you get Skyteam elite status with the BoA Air France card? I don't see that being stated on the website.
Is the answer Vancouver to London Heathrow on Air Canada in business, I can’t think of any other airports that end with an ‘R’ ( I’m not saying they don’t exist though, just my limited knowledge of airport codes🤷♂️) That sandwich really looked lovely!👍🏻
Had to look that up haha. Seems you're correct, but considering it's literally a strip of sand with no buildings (and no flights) serving a very small town, I reckon they'll be willing to part ways with "HCM" for a bit of cash lol.
Kevin, you caught me off guard with a non scheduled release😮. Hope the extra work has not eaten into your family and leisure time🤞🏽. I'm all for background and airport stories but I feel the flight time in the video was too less. I also feel some element is missing🤔, maybe you could have gone on to explain bit more about premium economy seat, real feel and is it worth it for short haul flights or anything else inflight to make it feel more wholesale. Honestly the review felt like short haul economy review. Sorry if I've offended you😢
To each their own. The seat recline- like the seat width, depth and height- are all published on sites all over the web. If and when a seat has great or horrible recline (or any of those other measurements)... I call it out specifically.
A good brisk short haul review, and the carrier delivered. Thank you. I presume you know about Qatar banning Josh Cahill and firing the cabin crew following his unfavourable review. What do you think of this and how might it affect you?
Josh admits clearly in his video that he has absolutely no confirmation the crew were fired. 10 seconds later he shows a random comment on his video which claims they might be fired (it was a general statement, not specifically about his crew), from that point he claims he knows they were fired. I have no idea what happened- banning someone isn’t appropriate- but his video is full of contradictions… He shows an email he got long before his flight saying his itinerary was cancelled, but he still shows up at the airport and acts surprised his flight was cancelled. Then needs no rent a car (a Maserati) to drive to DXB in the middle of the night. No one rents a car to drive between AUH and DXB, it’s an easy taxi ride. The whole thing stinks. Just don’t know which side it’s coming from.
You only get 60XP when approved for Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard. How can that be enough for Silver Elite status? Silver needs 100XP. Is this right?
@@tfft I still don't see it "automatically" as you said. Because Terms &Conditions did say that you do get additional 40XP during your anniversary year only if you spend X amount ;)
I’m not talking about an anniversary year. Maybe mine a couple months ago was a targeted offer but my card had a 75k signup bonus after $3k in spend within 3 months. In addition to the 75k sign up bonus,I also got 40 additional XPs which was part of my sign up offer. Best offers for AF cards are always on the checkout page when booking a J ticket.
Not sure the logic they are using for planning the Airports but from what I heard the new airport in Long Thanh will be used only for international and the old SGN in the future for domestic. The obvious problem will be connecting between international and domestic flights but they say they will build a high speed rail line between the two airports . The two airports are very far from each other just looking at a map for them to build a high speed train would take billions and judging by the time they have taken to build the metro it wouldn’t get built in any anyone alive today lifetime. The new Long Thanh area is massive and I can’t understand why they aren’t building all the phases all at once , it could easily handle all the flights and shut down SGN completely. Why are the wasting money building a terminal 3 at SGN ? Put the money and resources into the new airport . It really makes sense in the long term to get that airport out of the city they could sell the land for development and that would pay for the new airport . Also never a good idea to have a busy airport in the centre of a densely populated city just a matter of when not if a airliner crashes short of the runway or goes down after takeoff
The new airport will surely not only be used for international operations. As I mentioned in the video, it will take on most full service carriers including VN (for domestic and international) while VJ/BL/VU/QH remain at SGN. The model is seen in quite a few locations, the most prominent being BKK/DMK. In 99% of circumstances, there would not be a reason to transit between the two airports untless someone chose to buy separate tickets. As for Terminal 3 at SGN, it's a stop gap measure until Long Thanh is complete. Even with the additional T3 capacity, it's likely SGN will be near its new capacity even after VN moves to the new airport, once it's open.
There are plenty of channels who don't say a single word, perhaps you'd prefer them. This is my format- all of my videos have titled chapter markers so you could skip ahead at anytime. 😉
I saw very weird things at SGN Airport. A man rides a bike on the airfield at SGN Airport. Females cleaning crew works in Men restroom while there were alot of men. Airport Restroom smell bad and only one bottle of hand soap to pass around.

This seems pretty rare, tbh. A short route like SGN-BKK with a wide-body fleet is that insane; usually it is operated by A321 instead.

I'm considering flying direct with them LHR-SGN next month, I think the 600(ish) GBP price one-way is pretty decent.
One way for Premium Economy? Yes, decent. For economy that's expensive. If PE, just make sure it's true PE and not their 787s with 'fake' PE.

Upon approval you get 40XPs, when you hit the sign up bonus spend, you get 60 XPs more. 100XP = Skyteam Elite, no flying required.
