Brilliant video mate. You really went around, learnt about the place and mingled with the locals. I've been looking for a video exactly like this for near twenty years! Half my life I lived in Witham until I left the country, I've never been back, but it reminds me of home!! Thank you for this!
Was really nice meeting you on your visit to Witham and for including our little horde in your video. Witham is a great place full of interesting places and lots of hidden history.
That was great i moved here from London 8 months ago I learned loads from your video ! And I’m going to find Charlie’s bar I didn’t even know about it 👍🏻🌼
How cool! The girl injured in the bomb going off was my great grandmother, so I guess the Rev was my great, great grandfather? So interesting- thanks for this!!
Been meaning to try El Pulpo the last few times I've been to Witham but always ended up at Crofters out of long-standing customer loyalty. But next time I will definitely give it a go - that black pudding quail's egg looks flipping lovely.
I do miss going to Witham, I used to live on Canvey Island (if you have done a video of there). So I went to Witham a lot before my family and I moved to New Zealand. But I always found it a real chill/classy little village. The Tesco's there did some amazing cakes and Churchill's fish and chip shop was lovely! Not a lot to do there, but some lovely parks and architecture.
@@ADayintheUK Awesome bro, I'm looking forward to watching all the places of nostalgia! Make sure you check out the Lobster Smack pub and the dutch cottage, some insane history around them areas! 👌🙂
Lovely video - shame that nobody actually got the origins of the town right: it was a market that was gifted to the Knights Templar and became a market town. Its' a nice place but the council has ruined most of the river walk with housing developments - but to be fair they have decimated most of the surrounding country-side with housing developments.
I live in this place, and - seeing these things day after day - they become common place and boring! But this vlog gives a real excitment to the area. Without getting political, alas, a lot of it's charm is now being lost as developers build everywhere. The most recent has seen the edges of the town park decimated as they uproot century old trees to make way for yet another (8 in 2 years) property development.
Imagine if all graffiti was as beautifully done as it is here. Nobody would object. I'll have to take my Spanish partner to el Pulpo (The Octopus) and her Parents who are visiting us from Madrid. I have had home made green peppers in Madrid as it's something the mother in law cooks. When she does it some of the peppers can be spicy so it's a lucky dip.
I also like to use Witham as the starting point for a walk or cycle following the old railway line to Maldon. We parked in the industrial estate and under the bridge nearby is the starting point.
Dormitory town full of Towie types. No longer the nice place it was. Traffic jams galore. Houses springing up everywhere.Glad you enjoyed your day but the reality is different .For the record I have lived here nearly 53 years.
