pls i love how you don’t stick to specific styles graphs etc and try different stuff but also let us know abt it ! tysm you have taught almost every single ae editor in this industry how to edit
Gatekeeping sucks in this community 😭😭 so I seriously cannot thank you enough for making these tutorials. You’ve helped me SO much with improving my editing
You are so good at explaining. I already knew this but you just broke it down in simple steps that are easy to follow for people who don't! I was just wondering if you mark your beats? Or do you just wing it and listen every time you do a transition?
idk why but i just wing it 😅 i think because sometimes i’ll rewatch and realize that the beat is off and it’d be kinda annoying to always move my markers around yanno
@@emowhofromwhoville Yeah definitely makes sense. I'm just not that great at hearing the beats in general so if I don't mark them I get things mixed up 😭 always really interesting to see how we're all editing but using slightly different tools and tricks, it's what I love about the community :)
@@tpwk-bloom what I do, is basically the same thing but I kinda always also add an shape layer, go and cut it at every beat drop, delete every 2nd piece of it yk and then let it play so I can see if everything is on beat and if not I'll adjust the marks
OMG YOU JUST ANSWERED SOOOOOOOO MANY QUESTIONS FOR ME The null objectsss omg so its literally like youre able to LAYER keyframes on top of each other... stop this makes so sense. No because i was just watching a livestream and the person was editing obvs and they had a ton of null objects (their edit they were working on looked amazing but super complicated) but this really helped me get a better idea of what it does and how it can be used. I feel so motivated to edit something rn
what’s even better about this is that i can kinda use this tut in AM aswell! like they have null objects and mid-graphs (they look a bit different but its there yk)too, and now i finally understand the purpose of them LMAO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! :D luv ya laurenn
@@chocobear8511 there kinda is? It doesnt look like after effects midgraphs but it works the same way; its basically z graphs, you basically manipulate your graph into a z looking one, theres some tutorials for that so it should be easy
@@sadangelcig you need to put keyframes on effects or in the transform settings (whatever u r trying to do) first before being able to put graphs, so basically 2 keyframes = a graph, the graph settings are in the left side usually. They come in automatically for u to edit if u put ur time marker in between ur keyframes
had to give a thumbs up for the graphs and key frames talk!!! some editors forget that you can do whatever you want with your edit and still have it look nice!! and like you’ve shown, sometimes not manipulating your graphs can do more!!
i normally dont watch editing tip videos/tutorials for the exact reasons you described (often they feel too prescriptive/don't work for my ideas and i enjoy figuring out for myself what works best) but you have such good suggestions and such a clear way of explaining what looks different and why 😌💖i feel empowered to learn null object editing now
not me taking notes like i'm in class, i've had an editing block for a little too long and i've started watching your videos again and feel super inspired rn, so might go and edit something now, thank you lauren❤
i just got after effects, and thought that i wanted to do velocities like I always did, but you are so good at explaining that I now want to make transiotions. never stop lauren, you are too good
This video was sooo helpfull, you make the most confusing parts of editing so simple. for my editing i use capcut but just watching your videos on how to do transitions flips or how to use graphs helps me understand capcut even more (ps cc is out for desktop and you can make a transtion b4 another one finishes, and there is motion blur and the graphs are fixed 🤧)
You are so right about the graphs thing, I never even thought about not changing the graph, because when I started editing I always had this idea in my head that normal graphs will never look good, but u have helped me so much thank you!!
I love this video so much because I video edit it but recently and a half ago my computer broke so I haven’t been able to edit and watching different video editing videos on here really makes me miss it and helps me not forget everything that I learned. Specifically, your video this one that I’m watching, you’re doing a lot of things that I myself figured out as well work for me and different edits. I also don’t stick to one style of editing or stuff like that, techniques.
OMG YOURE THE BEST! You couldnt have uploaded this a better time cuz i literally took a break of remaking ur edit to watch this 😆 and now I know how to make it smoother 😊literally tysm ❤️
You know when you tried editing on CapCut that one time; they added motion blur and other amazing stuff and I would love to see you do it again! It ok if not
this is so helpful !!! one thing that i would really want to see you doing is a edit with me vid, that would be so instructive ! i am such a fan of your vids, so happy to see you back :)

And what is it used for? I thought on your second key frame you move the pins and since it’s key framed when the clip plays it moves into the action you pulled that character in with the pins, is that correct?
1. Smooths out keyframes and makes it easier to edit them. a null object is just an invisible thing that you parent your clip to, when you move the null object the actual clip does too. choppy might mean the video is laggy, or i could mean that they make it laggy on purpose for a transition. for all of those null objects, it's a different movement, like the first null object is the first image sliding to the 2nd and the 2nd null object is the 2nd to the 3rd. graph and speed graph are the same thing (maybe). you need to press the pen looking tool that is selected at the top to get the "purple liner". rotobrush just automates the purple liner thing and it is used to cut out stuff from the original picture. puppet pin is new to me, but i believe it its to warp the image to her liking, maybe for a transition , your correct :). hope it helps
