    This is fantastic. I encountered this issue for the first time this week. Couldn't believe such shoddy design was so widespread. Cheers!

    Excellent! thank you, my generator battery had those posts and one had come loose was driving me nuts to figure out how to get the nut to stay still!

    You took the words right out of my mouth! I replaced my indicator relay the other week which entailed removing the battery, and was infuriated by the same problem. I jammed globs of 'Blu Tack' under each terminal block which worked fine for me. 👍🏽 🏍

    That's a good little hack. Changed my battery a few weeks ago and it was a bit of a pain trying to line them up.

  • @daviDJacome1975
    @daviDJacome1975 5 лет назад

    a huge thumbs up for that one.
    in my case the problem is that you have to wiggle the battery around to get it in its place and sometimes that little block falls out and you can have a hard time trying to find it so that tip is a lifesaver for me. thanks spicy

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  5 лет назад

      Same deal here and you have to get the batt deep down in the box for the leads to reach and you have to get both to be in the right place at once! Nightmare! 😁

    O was so freaking pissed plans frustrated yesterday because I struggled with this yesterday helping a friend replace her battery. I literally had the same problem. I’m going to try this when I see her in a few days.

    A good tip, thanks. Now if we could only persuade all manufacturers to make batteries and their terminals easily accessible for testing, maintenance, jump starting etc, life would be perfect!

    I cut a thin strip of the corrugated cardboard box the battery came in, fold it into a 'Z' shape and that holds the nut up. I leave it in place and haven't set myself on fire yet.

    I'd like to see a future video about a valve job for a motorcycle, when to do it and why it should be done. I put a lot of kilometres on my bike this past season and i havent done this yet.

Jake wouldn't even notice me and my comments. However, I would love to hear what he has to say about it. I'll send him a message, Thanks spicy.

  • @harlzter69

    I use a folded over end of a drinking straw for this and leave the rest attached to withdraw it, it wants to unfold so gives a nice pressure to hold in place, is non conductive and doesn't snag or tear when removing.

  • @SlickMotoMike

    I have lost my block 😂 have to take seat off now to start. I then have no speedo, rev counter etc. Which don't necessarily need a rev counter as should be listening and feeling the vibrations etc. However my motorcycle keeps stalling now and lights flickering. Have no heated grips now either so freezing hands.
    I have try to find a 4 way battery terminal connector as have lots of tech that I've installed. I have purchased another set of bolts 🔩 plus the nut but....feel like still gonna be a challenge but will try this method as don't want to lose the nut again 😅

  • @easternmenace
    @easternmenace 5 лет назад +2

    I rolled up some electrical tape and left it there, previous owners used paper and left it there lol. Your method is better if the battery is easily accessible which mine isn't. Why can't they just make terminals thicker and threaded I don't know

  • @MrSlowestD16
    @MrSlowestD16 5 лет назад

    Srsly pro tip. Never ran into that problem, most batteries I see use the side-posts with the 10mm bolts that go from the sides. But the nut in those (which takes the place of the block in this style) is really hard to hold centered, so I can only imagine how hard this one is to hold UP. Definitely a pro tip for sure.

    Better yet is a double sided sticky pad which will provide the cushioning to raise the block to meet the bolt/screw.
    No fire hazard as there isn't enough material to stay alight.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 года назад +1

      Have tried that with dielectric grease, I rather use that than a conductive one. However I found it would move the nut enough for it to not work. You must just have the skill down haha

    Spicy, what's your opinion on lithium batteries for bikes? Are they worth the extra money?

      If you are after weight saving 100%!

    • @SW400SM
      @SW400SM 5 лет назад

      I definitely recommend a lithium battery as the cranking amps and longevity is much better than the conventional lead or gel types

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  5 лет назад +1

      Price should tumble down soon, till then I'm sticking with traditional and I will hate my cheap ass every time it fails 😁

    • @easternmenace
      @easternmenace 5 лет назад

      Lithium batteries have more cons than just price, I was going to change mine to one but after reading about them realised that they just won't work for me

    • @SW400SM
      @SW400SM 5 лет назад

      @@spicy110 mate.. for the price of two reasonable batteries which will inevitably fail after a certain timeframe, you can get a good lithium. No better feeling than when you press the ignition and instantly the starter kicks in.
