James Roy the startup time of smartphones and computers seem to be a central issue.. apple is a lot better than samsung or any other that designs for android, but it isn't immune to needing start ups and resets.. and the start up on the 5S and 6, compared to the 4 and 4S is a major improvement
James Roy lol yeah, you're right.. no one really turns off an iphone cos it is starting to run slow.. i toggle the airplane mode every once in a while when the internet is lagging, but that's about it.. however, start up time can become an everyday issue since the battery life is garbage on iphones.. one thing they need to fix, is the charge and start up time for after the battery dies.. it shouldn't take 5-10 minutes for it to come back on.. when these phones die, they DIE hard!
James Roy since i'm constantly texting, calling, photographing, listening to music and web browsing, the battery is pretty crappy.. i have to carry my charger everywhere.. i never had to do that with my note, with its 3200mah battery.. if you were into photography, you'd know that 30 seconds counts when you're filming a sunset or any similar activity where every second counts.. with my note, i could decide on a whim to go film a sunset, even if i had been using my phone all day.. with the iphone, i have to plan for it and keep my phone on the charger, just in case.. and if i didn't keep it on the charger that day, there will be time lost if it dies during filming.. or if i didn't keep it on the charger that day and didn't plan on filming, but i suddenly see that the sunset is gonna be magnificent, then i have to take an L, since the battery is so inferior.. my note never took this long to turn on after dying.. in fact, it came right back on after dying, without even charging it.. with the samsung, it turns off when it isn't really completely dead, while the iphone turns off when it is really completely dead.. on the other hand, at least the iphone doesn't prohibit certain features just because of battery percentage.. samsung will automatically turn off your music and won't allow flash or video at 5%, which is annoying

iOS 8 beta is slower with more bugs because it's an iOS beta. You should expect laggy performance on beta software. iOS 7 beta was laggy also and it got improved with the release of the official iOS 7.0. There is only a couple new features here and there so it won't make the phone slower than iOS 7 on official iOS 8.0.
Ever since I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8, my photos app is very slowwww. When I click the "send" button on a photo, it takes forever to give me what options to send it to! Anyone else have this problem!?
I really thought that when Apple said they were going for a simplified design in IOS 7 compared to IOS 6 that they also meant the design would take up less RAM. It seems like they're not big on multitasking apps. You can barley have 2 apps open at the same time if they take up a decent amount of RAM. Either Apple adds another GB of RAM or I don't want IOS 8 at all.
Ezaone1 Simplified OS do not use as much RAM as complex and modern OS. Less animations. Less unnecessary graphic upgrades. Less lag. Apple just seems to care about looks, not performance. The A7 chip is not ready for iOS 8. It ran pretty decently with iOS 6 though. iOS 6 took up much less processing power.
John Trollinski simpler it is more advanced it is.... simpler means less work for you and more work for the device ok? :) also it runs silky smooth on my ipad 2 4 years old on a4 chip... so idk what is your problem
kobalov1 Sir. If you haven't noticed. Computers in the past did not have the same processing power and RAM as modern technology can provide. Therefor OS systems were limited to design. You take in multiple factors when you design something. Artists have existed forever, but the ability to sustain a complex more in depth OS relies in the power of a computer.
IK, the tutorial was for non - UDID registered. Why use that tutorial. so like i said "When ever my phone is power off on ios 8, when i turn it back on i get an activation error "
Easy. First of all, you have to restore your iphone to ios 7, then update to ios 8 like how he teaches you in this video. Remember do not reset your phone after update to ios 8; otherwise, you will get the activation error.
i can help you im a developer for apple i can register your UDID. i do charge 10.00 bucks but i 100% guarantee my work or your money back ! i use pay pal witch is the safest payment system. once i register your UDID your iphone will be back up in minutes ! Anyone that needs help email me at slush23@gmail.com my name is chris
I will just get mу iРhоone 7 heееerе twitter.com/1b6481bfe98c033fc/status/790428760050798592 for free :) iOS 8 VS iOОS 7 Оn iРhoneе 5 Which Is Faааstеr
A little known tip. If you are running the beta and you turn off your device, it bricks your phone. When you restart it has an activation error that can only be fixed by an apple developer device registration. I am a developer and neglected to register it so when I turned off my phone with the new firmware it bricked it until I register it in my dev. account. So yeah good luck with turning it off an on.
I think that metal is only available for A7-powered devices and since the iPhone 5 is A6-powered, there wouldn't be an influence by metal. I think it's more the new programming language called Swift, which consists of less text which makes the device faster.
A lot of comments. But everyone forgets what is REALLY important. How about the memory occupation? Now my iPhone 5 has 3/400 MB free after boot. How room is left for apps with iOS8?
im on 8.0.2 with an iphone 5c, theres a lot of lag in it, but other people seem to not have that problem, do you think if i completely reset my phone itll be better?
Ok I'm a little confused I'm going to be buying I phone 5c next week and I'm wondering if I will have to install iOS 8 or wether it will come with it can any one answer my question ?
Can you guys help me? i want iphone 5c but i want to know the differences between the 5c and the 5. Im 14. Whats the difference, there the same but i want to known what apple include to the iphone 5c
If you want your phone run just like brand new when you got it, don't update the software, it's kills the phone, all the updates make your phone slow so then you can buy new one
You can, but it only cost like $3-5 to register your UDID, and also allows you access to the beta builds once it becomes a requirement, it also prevents any activation errors when updating or restarting your phone without UDID registration.
I'm getting me a iPhone cause I have went through seven phone and they was androids and my sister had a iPhone for all her life and that phone never stop working on her.
GUYS ANSWER PLEASE I have an iPhone 5c.. and my friend has iPhone 5... i think they both have same specs... and i downloaded an app on both devices at the same time and connected on the same WiFi and DAMN my iPhone 5c was 10x slower on downloading apps... did iOS 8 slow down my download speed too?
its faster because iOS 8 is built completely for dual-core support. The reason its iPhone 4S and up is because from the 4S and up there all dual core architecture, everything before that was single core. iOS 7 has 2 versions 32 and 64 bit (for 5S and 6) 8 is the same way. However I suspect apple has updated some of its apps with metal as well as the OS which means overall performance to the OS as well (and future apps) but the main reason is that the entire OS is built with dual architecture design. its also more refined for 5S users a better 64 bit platform. I just tested a 5S and upgraded it and notice its...excuse my word usage...snappier OS
His version of ios 8 is only the first version, check all the other betas for a full review on how ios 8 is. Luckily there are rumours that iphone 6 will have a longer battery life and a form of wireless charging, so I will be looking forward to using that in my day to day life. But a very good walk through of ios 8 nevertheless.
Oh no, I just read your video description as well as a few comments. "Is iOS 8 slower than iOS 7?" What it should say is "Is iOS 8 beta 1 slower than iOS 7?" The answer is, probably, yes. It's a fucking beta! No-one seems to get it into their thick heads. This test is irrelevant.
That's the beta version of iOS 8 I have ios 8 running faster than ios 7 I updated 1 day ago and I'm using the alpha version and u know all things that are in beta has bugs

the icons make me feel so depressed , I'm lucky to have my jailbreak ... but I love the features on ios 8 , such a dilemma
"people don't care how long it takes for their phone to turn on" ... bye

Because RAM is a software and can be "installed" with a new update. I don't think you know what you're talking about.
Please, do one with iPhone 4S, as it's the oldest phone which can handle ios8
Hi can you do a ideo on 5s/7.1.2 vs 5s/8.1, opening facebook, mail, youtube, not just camera!!!!

Nice review
I wish I could see one like that with 5s and it's 64bit processor as I suppose iOS8 would benefit more from it

For the geek bench test the score depends on how you take care of your phone
Please do this comparison between iPad mini first generation or ipod touch 5 please!
>First gen
Please be a troll
When they were talking about "Metal" in WWDC they said that it will only work for A7 devices. You should do this video for 5s only :)
The iphone on the right has 5 camera settings. How did you do that?
I think that metal is only available for A7-powered devices and since the iPhone 5 is A6-powered, there wouldn't be an influence by metal. I think it's more the new programming language called Swift, which consists of less text which makes the device faster.
How exactly do you get the app on your homescreen: Bug Reporter?
Hey i have a question, once you've updated will your apps stay or will you have to redownload them via the last time you backed up your device
EverythingApplePro what s the name of the app at minute 2 .35 when you compare ios 8 with ios7.
A lot of comments. But everyone forgets what is REALLY important. How about the memory occupation? Now my iPhone 5 has 3/400 MB free after boot. How room is left for apps with iOS8?
Did you verify your UDID? Because when my phone died and I rebooted it told me that my iPhone wasn't verified to be using iOS 8 :/

Can you guys help me? i want iphone 5c but i want to know the differences between the 5c and the 5. Im 14. Whats the difference, there the same but i want to known what apple include to the iphone 5c
ios 8 is out??
When is ios8 coming out?
apple slow it down on purpose so you have to buy the new iPhone, pathetic.
Lol I heard it sucks, even on the new iPhone
I have an iPod touch though, who would want an iPhone?
Not sure if that's true but it seems like it
How to get iOS 7 back!!!! Plz plz plz man I beg u want it back its alowed my iPod 5th gen soooo slow
Is the iPhone 6 made of sapphire glass?
If you want your phone run just like brand new when you got it, don't update the software, it's kills the phone, all the updates make your phone slow so then you can buy new one
How does one conclude that ios8 will be a more powerful OS and won't slow down older phone models.. off of this particular comparison
"Older phone models", considering it'll only be for iPhone 5 and upwards....
Rhyan Chalmers I think its 4s upwards.
Rhyan Chalmers 4S and up :)
***** I apologised and corrected myself already, thanks friend.
Because Apple said so
Dose the unlock sim u sell work on iOS 7.1.1 for iPhone 5?
Hey, are you able to get this with no UDID registration? Am am just wondering because iOS 7 betas you could. A reply would be nice:)
You can, but it only cost like $3-5 to register your UDID, and also allows you access to the beta builds once it becomes a requirement, it also prevents any activation errors when updating or restarting your phone without UDID registration.
is it still worth buying the iPhone 5 now?
Yes but i preffer to buy 5c or higher
got mine a month ago, new in box, still amazing iphone, runs fast on ios 8/9
I'm getting me a iPhone cause I have went through seven phone and they was androids and my sister had a iPhone for all her life and that phone never stop working on her.

ios 8 was the best
wtf ? learn a proper english bitch
@everythingApplePro
Will iOS 8 run smoothly on a iPhone 4s overtime
GUYS ANSWER PLEASE I have an iPhone 5c.. and my friend has iPhone 5... i think they both have same specs... and i downloaded an app on both devices at the same time and connected on the same WiFi and DAMN my iPhone 5c was 10x slower on downloading apps... did iOS 8 slow down my download speed too?
Ios 8 is buggy and i say is slower ur download speed
the best versions for ios is the ones come with the phone already. like iphone 5, it comes with ios 6. and so on.
Stop comparing THE BETA VS THE NOT BETA
Would be far more impressive if you were able to control it in sync. Because on the shutdown, you are way slower with your right hand.
How do u get iOS 8
Can you do it on iPhone 5s?
so their basically the same?
Can anyone tell me that does ipod 5 has ios 8
Can we jailbreak our iphone with iOS 8?
It not suppose to come till Fall

I just tested a 5S and upgraded it and notice its...excuse my word usage...snappier OS
Will it come out for ipad 2?
Yes. It supports iPad 2.
Is ios 8 Secure? Like Will I Be Tracked By Apple or anything? and will they b able to collect my passwords?
ok
Damn nigga. You stupid.
yes or no
Why wil apple want ur passwords? They only store them on iTunes as back up
TheJangoChase apple has your info no matter what. if you dont like it, dont use their products.
wow that is a lame comparison.... fully tested and optimized iOS 7 VS first beta iOS8...... whats the point exactly?
The point is to, see which one is better. That's the point.
Dude he wrote faster... That means my comment stays valid... By the way no offense to him, I am a subscriber and I love his vids.
*removed doubled post*
I never knew white iPhones had white screen and black apple for their boot logo lol
iPhone 5 is a snappy phone
not surprising :)

geekbench wouldn't even know about algorithm behind metal to test it or incorporate it yet.
I believe metal is for A7x devices only
plz help me for best ios for 5s
+aadil chohan ios 7
iOS8 beta 1 is much more buggy that iOS7 when it was in beta 1. Not worth trying it yet.
The battery in ios 8 on my iPod touch is MUCH BETTER
I tested it out without a dev account and you're correct! The battery is better :)
you have a very cold voice... XD
It hasn't been released
if you have an iphone 4s or anything lower than that i think you should stay with 7 i dont think you phone can handle it and for ipod4 to
The METAL feature in ios 8 is only for A7 chips...
i have the iphone 5s ios 7 should i upgrade to ios 9?
Noooo!!!
why?
+Marko Laz the iOS 7 is fast, but the iOS 9 runs pretty well and smooth
yes i know i agree
iOS 8 was released in September, 2014 but this video was published in June, 2014. Why?
Oh no, I just read your video description as well as a few comments. "Is iOS 8 slower than iOS 7?" What it should say is "Is iOS 8 beta 1 slower than iOS 7?" The answer is, probably, yes. It's a fucking beta! No-one seems to get it into their thick heads. This test is irrelevant.
ICrap8, Here at apple, we are on the same OS for the 8th time + many builds, but we still can't get it right!
Thank you for using Crapple
You mad?
than you for showing that apple hatters mostly have one neuron
Revolution come slowly. Developers work hard to perform IOS . I think we should wait IOS 10 or more to have a perfect system.
METAL designed for A7 chip (according to apple), compare between two iphone 5S and then we will see the "real" difference.
Title should be iOS 8beta1 vs iOS 7.
iOS 8 isn't here yet! It's comming this fall
okay but the REAL question is, is the battery life better??
For me iphone 5 is even faster with 8.1 and the battery life is better a bit as well. (Jailbroken!) before with 7.1.2 i had some lagg with typing.
That's the beta version of iOS 8 I have ios 8 running faster than ios 7 I updated 1 day ago and I'm using the alpha version and u know all things that are in beta has bugs
So true oily It sliwd my iphone to
I don't have iOS 8 setting yet
Same shit just like ios 5 and iOS 6 . : more features
That's kinda what an update does..
U should get eyes cause for me there is a change
LympixSD Not in Windows .
P
Windows sucks. I have a laptop with drivers from 2006 and windows says they're updated.
Is it just me or does it sound like you're always trying to make this video without anyone knowing you are. Always sounds like you're whispering behind a closest
iOS 8 did run faster on i5. Except it's so buggy it's almost unbearable.
its the first beta..
Why i can't get iOS 8 ? I have iphone 5
IOS 8 should be called IOS7.1. The differens is subtle and most subsidary not on an operative system level. Just for comparism, Windows phone 8.1 came with bigger diff copmared with WP 8 but MS still did not called it WP9.
iOs 7 its fast Wow
