@@manuelmonge527 I deleted the DJI Fly app on my IOS and reinstalled it. Then I put a new fullt charge battery in the drone. I was then prompted to update my battery. After the battery update was complete I clicked video, and it showed me a 4k zoom and a 4k wide option. After I selected 4k zoom I went back to just the regular screen showing what you were going to be filming. Right to the left of the record button was the 1x option and when I clicked on it it showed 2x and viola. It zoomed in the 2x . Hope this help
This is huge stuff! great how to again!!!! I'm using my MA2 for videoing soccer practices, scrimmages, and games. I just tried it out this morning and now I can stay away from the players and use the zoom capabilities and the touch screen gimbal control to one follow the play and also to keep the noise from the drone at a distance. The 4:1 is incredible!!!! I was just starting to think about buying a Mavic Zoom but now no need!

Yes, Hyperlapse 4K WITH 2 second intervals instead of 6 secs with 8K. I did verify the prevent lateral flying feature (right stick left/right) you can still turn by using yaw (left stick left/right).

My firmware update says it is V01.00.0340 178.28MB. Slightly different from your V01.00.0310. At least that's what is says while it's currently installing.

Now that there is a digital zoom feature on the Air 2, it would be cool if they would also build into the Fly App Quickshots, a digital Dolly Zoom version of their "Dolly Zoom" feature that is on the Mavic 2 Zoom! No reason why this couldn't be enabled using Digital Zoom. It's possible to do it using post editing, but I don't have those skills...
@@pawekrotowski8970 No it's not impossible, I've seen it done. You keep the subject of the shot the same size in frame using digital zoom while moving the perspective by changing the position of the camera, ie moving the drone away. The result is almost the same as with physical zoom, but there's some loss of resolution.
@@samgab Hi Sam, yes you can do the digital version you're referring to but it is way different and no where near as effective as the real dolly zoom!!

Have they reinstated the ability to turn off landing detection for safer hand catching yet? Its great they've added yaw controls back in (such a handy feature!) but downward sensor controls would be great too!
Thanks for the heads up on the firmware update! FYI, DJI App likes to use phone signal over Wi-Fi, can cause slow firmware updates. Put iPhone in Airplane mode and then turn Wi-Fi on. 100% faster and more reliable download. Thanks again for all you do for us!
@Chris Grove if you hold the function button and use the gimbal rotation dial you can get smooth zoom in/out from 1x to 4x in 1080p or up to 2x in the other resolutions.
Left right movement is disable because the drone doesn't have side sensors. It's limiting the movement of the drone lessening the chances of crashing. If you move forward or backward sensors are functional. If you yaw left or right you are pivoting on a point, not likely to crash. But when you move sideways there is that possibility of crashing, no sensors no camera. I believe this feature is more for beginners.
I just purchased the air 2 last week. Loving it! I noticed some guys run with the grid lines on the screen. What is the purpose and /or preference to have the lines? Thanks. Great video as always.

You've been very helpful at teaching the capabilities and limitations of this drone. I crashed mine twice recently in active track when it decided to avoid an obstacle from the front, only to fly sideways unexpectedly and of course crash. (One into my Sprinter van and another into a tree--got lucky and it did a miraculous recovery.). I'm wondering if this limitation has been improved in the update.
so does the zoom do a sensor zoom? so like for example in the magic 2 pro you can set 4k FOV which is a full sensor readout and 4k hq which is still 4k but middle of the sensor. curious if it does this in the lower quality modes. Also... man it would be so great if they updated the Mavic 2 pro as well to include some of the optimizations to sport mode and stuff for example. a lot of time I wanna do a nice fast flight with gimbal looking straight forward and it sharply looks down
Just add to your video, I figured out you can control the amount of zoom by touching and holding the zoom icon, this will bring up a dial that will enable you to smoothly zoom in and out.
Hi Aldryn! Thank you for mentioning that the gimbal will go some degrees down when the aircraft is in sports mode. I have seen this on my Mavic Mini and I thought that it was the wind that pushes the gimbal down. Any new update on Mavic Mini?
Great Video. Thanks. subbed. If you do digital zoom in post you can use upscaling and preserve. Its a heck of a lot better quality. I mean digital zoom in 4 k is really just 2k. The Mavic Zoom uses Optical Zoom so it preserves the quality.
Sure wish the updated obstacle avoidance update would have come 1 day earlier! My MA2 crashed itself into a large (1” diameter) cable yesterday while in the middle of an active track. (In Normal mode, all sensors on.) broke the camera face and bottom plate pretty bad. Today, it is off to the DJI hospital in California. I was supposed to shoot a wedding with it this weekend. 😩
Hello Folks...glad to see all are doing well during these uncharacteristic times. Quick Question: Do you think DJI would add digital zoom to the Mavic Mini? The Mini May not have 4K...but it does have 2.7K at 30fps...and...1080p at 60fps...so 4X zoom would be possible on the Mini too...
im just amazed with all the feature it have at the current price point. i wish Dji would let us fully customize our sticks mode layout other than im really enjoy flying the mavic air 2
Digital zoom. Do we know say 1080x2 where if is actually cropping 4k x2 to give a real 1080 x2 zoom or is it cropping 1080 x2? If the latter then for me also capture 4k and leave the digital zoo. To post. Gives you more flexibility 4k to a 1080p timeline gives you the option of x2 without digital loss.
My exact question...Technically this is achievable with 2.7k and 1080 since we are dealing with a 4k sensor. Since you are able to zoom 4x in 1080, I suspect it wouldn't be a crop zoom. We should know for sure soon enough.
The reason you can only do 4X in 1080 is because it’s cropping digitally from the 4K image pipeline. The Mavic Air 2 has an 8K sensor which is why it’s able to do achieve a 2X in 4K without much (or any) noticeable loss in quality.
@@impatrickt this is incorrect the MA2's sensor is native 12mp 4000x3000 this is just over 4k. The 8k hylerlapse uses the 48mp quad bayer technique this is fine for hyperlapse 4sec interval shots but the MA2's processor would I'm sure be incapable of 8k quad 25 frames per second.... that would generate more data than the MA2 is capable of writing. I'd need to run some frame tests to prove it.

With an actual zoom lense you don’t lose image quality when you zoom so it all depends on what you’re trying to do.

Theoretically if I record at 1080p and "zoom" at 2X I shouldn't have any image quality loss considering a half inch 4K sensor.
Awesome update. I bet some motocross RUclipsrs complaining about the tilt when going full throttle in sport mode are happy too.
Another cool little tip - you can press and hold the “fn” button while turning the gimbal wheel for a smooth zoom

dolly zoom is impossible with digital zoom - dolly zoom is based on changing focal length and distance to the target

I did it in Imovie and came out great. It's really easy. Look up a tutorial on you tube.

Absolutely Fantastic! Found if you tap and scroll up when you are changing zoom it gives you a scale where you can sent zoom manually.

My exact question...Technically this is achievable with 2.7k and 1080 since we are dealing with a 4k sensor. Since you are able to zoom 4x in 1080, I suspect it wouldn't be a crop zoom. We should know for sure soon enough.
The reason you can only do 4X in 1080 is because it’s cropping digitally from the 4K image pipeline. The Mavic Air 2 has an 8K sensor which is why it’s able to do achieve a 2X in 4K without much (or any) noticeable loss in quality.
@@impatrickt this is incorrect the MA2's sensor is native 12mp 4000x3000 this is just over 4k. The 8k hylerlapse uses the 48mp quad bayer technique this is fine for hyperlapse 4sec interval shots but the MA2's processor would I'm sure be incapable of 8k quad 25 frames per second.... that would generate more data than the MA2 is capable of writing. I'd need to run some frame tests to prove it.
