Go back to waypoint hyper laps. Then click on the tiny square page looking icon and load the saved flight. That way the possibilities are endless !!

    One of the most amazing things about the mavic Air 2 is its HDR!!
    It is so good that most of the time you can get away with just using HDR for video and pictures and not even need to do post-production ( color-wise ) at all!! In other words technology is getting so good ( that it can see better than we can see using editing programs to make things right )
    even mr have to have the best camera ( Camera buff ) BILLY KYLE has said pretty much the same thing about the HDR on the MAVIC AIR 2!
    The Air 2 is all about simplicity and spending more time in the AIR and less time in the editing room..
    Truly amazing..
    ;)

      muzikmon2267 there is one small caveat with HDR. Being full auto with no control, I noticed in some situations it drops the shutter speed all the way down to 1/30 in order to properly expose the dark areas, which creates an unusable amount of blur in moving shots

    • @BMacksAerialVisuals
      @BMacksAerialVisuals 4 года назад

      Kathy, I can't answer for Russ, but hands down the Mavic 2 Pro has, by far, the better camera. BUT! The Mavic Air2 using HDR for sunrise/sunset is absolutely outstanding and can potentially be better than the Mavic 2Pro. On my channel, I have an example, June Sunset Over The Water Cooler (don't want to drop a link in here) of Mavic Air 2 HDR at sunset.

    Hi Russ. A shout out to your videos and recommendations that are included within the videos has been extremely helpful for a newbie such that I am. I did want to ask have you ever tried Dronelink. I have been playing around with it but can't really use it yet as DJI as not released the SDK files (only the Mavic Mini and Mavic Air 2 have not been released) which Dronelink uses. I did get word that Dronelink now has the SDK file for the Mavic Mini and soon will release it in an upcoming update. The software will do an automatic mission that you set the parameters beforehand then it uploads it to their DJI compatible app to fly the mission with. It's very inexpensive at $20 one-time fee. Maybe a video in the future on this topic?

  • @RaduBogdan2k
    @RaduBogdan2k 4 года назад

    I think you’re mistaken about what caused your windmill to not stay centered, wind shouldn’t affect anything other than maybe jerkiness in the shot. It wouldn’t affect the direction the drone is facing, especially not by that much. Here’s my take on this, after playing with the HP mode extensively:
    1. The way you’re manually flying from waypoint A to waypoint B has no bearing on the root the drone will take. I noticed you were trying to keep the windmill centered while flying manually but that does not matter. You might make small adjustments while flying that you’re not even realizing (like slightly increasing the amount of rotation you’re giving it with the left stick to keep it centered). When executing the HP, the drone will just consider the start position and the end position. What was the start heading, what’s the end heading and how long it will take to transition between these two. Using these it will calculate the rotation speed (e.g. 2 degrees per minute) and just start doing that. It will do the same for all axes on which you made changes. But the transition will be perfectly gradual from A to B.
    2. If you use multiple waypoints, in order to avoid jerkiness when changing direction, the drone does a bit of an arc to transition from the A-B movement to the B-C movement, which can also mess your scene a bit if you’re trying to keep something centered at all times.

    • @51Drones
      @51Drones  4 года назад +2

      I used 4 waypoints for that scenario, and I also set the camera position. The day before, I did the exact same sequence using the train trestle, and the final hyperlapse came out the exact same way that I set it. The only variable the next day, was the wind.

    When did this rule come out about flying at night?
    I thought as a recreational flyer you cannot fly at night at all?
    If you try to get laanc approval.. it's always rejected no matter what at night!!
    It doesn't give you an option to say I have a faa-approved light to get nighttime approval.
    What am I missing?

    • @chrisharris_arizona
      @chrisharris_arizona 4 года назад +2

      You can fly at night, see link below. You can fly at night with FAA-approved lights but yeah apps like AirMap don't let you fly in controlled airspace at night no matter what. It's either a feature that isn't added into the app, or there's some regulation buried somewhere (that I can't find) that bans all recreational night time flying in controlled airspace.
      Rule 6 says no flying at night without lights (aka you can fly at night with lights)
      www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_fliers/
      However, AirMap's website on Rule #5 says don't fly at night:
      www.airmap.com/rules-to-fly-recreational-drones/
      I'm submitting a support ticket to AirMap to get their explanation so we can all have an understanding and operate within the law.

      So basically if I put a lume cube on my drone..

      @@muzikmon2267 I sent AirMap a support ticket to get an explanation (hopefully they contact FAA). So I don't know what to tell you other than you can fly at night OUTSIDE of controlled airspace with lights on and don't need permission from AirMap or KittyHawk (still use them to check if you are in controlled airspace though!!!). NEVER fly when you get rejection from the apps when wanting to fly in controlled airspace...that means that Air Traffic Control does not know you are there and will be a major issue for all of us if something bad happens when someone flies unauthorized and causes near misses or damages someone or some thing.

      @muzikmon2267 I finally got some clarification!
      Recreational flying at night with lights is permitted as long as it is not in airspace where LAANC authorization is needed between civil sunrise and civil sunset. AKA the FAA doesn’t want recreational flyers flying near airports at night in controlled airspace...completely understandable. But you CAN fly at night with lights outside of the controlled airspace areas.
      You CAN fly in controlled airspace during civil twilight with lights with LAANC authorization...so in most places a half hour before sunrise to half hour after sunset.
      I tested AirMap out (just for authorization) and said I was going to fly at my local sunset time and said I was flying for 30 minutes and it was approved. I then tested it to where I was going to fly 1 minute after my local sunset time and flying for 30 minutes and it rejected it as the 30 minutes of flight would then be 1 minute after civil sunset.
      Here is a link to the FAA LAANC rules document. Page 24 of the PDF (page 16 in document) shows a table of what USS’s (apps like AirMap or Kittyhawk) are obligated to do. The 2nd row says to block LAANC approval at night. But once again, outside of these areas you are good to go with lights!
      www.faa.gov/uas/programs_partnerships/data_exchange/laanc_for_industry/media/FAA_sUAS_LAANC_USS_Performance_Rules.pdf#page20
      I hope this clears it up for everyone!

      Yes it does thank you!!
      but what stinks is that there's so many airports everywhere that's almost impossible to find places that are not controlled airspace.

    Why minimal to no horizon on you hyper lapse? Do you find it more steady with way points than corse lock? When I do corse lock it seems very jumpy. Last 10 second of video. ruclips.net/video/rQEbg1YVVqU/видео.html

      A waiver has never been necessary for hobbyists. Only for commercial flights.
