  • In July 2019, two major earthquakes hit near Trona, Calif., a town with less than 2,000 residents. While the football program struggles to find players, the team fields 8 players during the season to compete.

    I live in Ridgecrest which is just next to Trona. I was in the middle of the earthquake. It was something else. I got to respect the Trona Tornado football team. Sometimes their budget cannot even buy descent equipment.

    I played and lived there in the late 60s and early 70s I have great memories of Trona I often about the amazing friends and teammates I left behind

    cause the town cant afford the water to grow grass...

      grass cannot grow their because of the soil conditions.

      Real grass can’t grow. There is too much salt in the soil. As for astroturf, I am fairly certain any reflected heat from windows or anything else would melt it. Also, the entire town wants to keep the dirt football field.
