- Hi everyone! Here is the watercolor version of the quick gouache painting I made last week. I love how sweet and dainty this turned out to be, and they're fairly simple to paint for all levels! ^_^ I hope you guys enjoy this one. Happy painting! :D:D

I have the same problem :(( Thats why I try to paint simplified objects too so I don't get too absorbed with details

Your pencil sketches are so helpful and a really good reference point. And I appreciate the refresher lesson on perspective - I tend to put the center of the flower in the wrong place when I'm using the oval as a guide, so I'm looking forward to getting it right in the future!

Well I've only painted with gouache like twice so I'm not too used to it yet haha but of course I'm much more comfortable with watercolours :p

Nice note about adding contrast with the darker green as an accent colour... Also, I'm not sure how long you've been doing this, but I like how you break down the pencil sketches per flower. Explanation, then painting one type, then explanation, then another type, it feels easier to digest like that compared to explaining them all in one go (for example, like in your usual tutorials with only two components, the flower and the leaves or the acorn and the leaves...) especially when you cocnsider the variety of flowers.
Aaah I wish I had your kind of brush control, but my hands are always waay too shaky... size 000 is my friend hahah ;-;
I tend to do that for simpler more beginner paintings because I'm still able to do that within the time limit haha. I'm happy this was useful for you though! I have many older flower tutorials with this method if you're interested :)) Yea my hands used to shake too.. you can slowly work on it by building up fine motoric muscles. I still consider my brush control to be mediocre compared to other artists. Best of luck for your paintings! ^__^

Giorgione mixed hair brush. But it's not that good, the synthetic is cheaper and so much better. I already bought them so I just wanted to find a way to use them >
Beautiful. That is simplistically doable but I guarantee I'd make a mess of it. I've been playing with watercolors for backgrounds to use gel pens on. I'm trying to figure out how much water to use to get lighter to darker and next to other colors without making mud.
My palette ends up having to much paint spread out on it and I run out of room for a new color. Do you ever just wash your palette off clean when that happens?
I've been grabbing plates to continue mixing on but then I end up with colors on those that I can use later. Starts to get cluttered.
Oo yea that's not too easy to get with wet on wet. You'd have to exaggerate the consistency of your paint when the surface is wet because it's going to spread and lighted the paint (if you want it dark). You can also layer more colours once it's completely dry. Also to not get the colour muddy, you want the surface to not be puddling wet so the paint doesnt travel too fast and mix with each other.
In terms of the palette. I tend to clean mine if I know the colours are going to bother new colours due to lack of space. I just use wet tissue to clean off a section :))
