I was in a relatively minor front-end collision with my 2015 Tundra 4x4, 5.7. It drives (engine) fine, no obvious damage other than the steering wheel inside is now at a position 90 degrees to the right, when the wheels are traveling straight. And about every 5 minutes of travel there is (best described as) a wobble in that wheel. That wheel (front passenger) took a direct hit & I was told something like "steering gears were likely knocked off a couple of notches". If you have time to answer this inquiry, I would welcome your opinion, if you are able to give on with the info I provided, on if you think it would be best to replace the entire assembly. I think you just replaced the steering rod, rather than that little gear box on driver's side of the shaft, right? I'm at square one this evening with my issue, just gathering all the info I can - all body shops around here are booked until April to May.
My wheel was doing the same random directions so that’s why I replaced the full rack. It comes with the small input gear shaft that your steering shaft connects to. This should fix all your issues, good luck and thanks for watching.
there is a bracket on drivers side above worm gear an s bracket real thin about 8 inches long remove that and you have another inch of room to instal pinion gear easier
It did kind of feel that way for a few days as I wrestled with the Rack & Pinion, but the reward was worth it. It drives great and sounds great, it's the perfect work truck for me. Scratches, who cares. Dents, I couldn't tell if there was a new one.
thanks bro you saved me a couple days and alot of cussin
YW, I know I did a lot of loosing it for a few days :)

Sorry I don’t know what you’re referring to at 13:46. Can you clarify your questions.

I don't recall seeing that S bracket, oh well it's done now.
I’m on my 3rd replacement, Orielly’s reman racks. 🤬
so, did you do it the same way as this guy?
@@Paco53No, removed the steering link gear and it slides in. Installed the gear back on after sliding into place.
You don’t think it would be faster, and easier access to the lines, if you just dropped the front differential?
wondering the same thing.
Thanks!
A fun nightmare

Is this the only way to do it
@@ScarsAndCars I’ve heard of people saying they pulled the entire unit out the side but I’ve found it’s impossible. This way seems fool proof.
