To all the other men here: guys, I know that plenty of us know that this kind of behavior is wrong and that we would never do it ourselves. With that said, we have a responsibility to go ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure that other men do not get away with this kind of disgusting behavior. This includes calling people out when they do this, engaging in uncomfortable (but necessary) conversations, and condemn + correct any sort of comment, action, or idea that might encourage and/or tolerate emotional and physical harassment. We have to stand up for the change that we want to see and take action so that the women on this planet can live freely and without fear that they will have to go through these experiences just for being women. We are all people and deserve to be respected. Let's do better.

Unfortunately, as a woman, I wasn't as horrified as these stories as I thought I was gonna be. Just goes to show how much we go through that we become desensitized cz it's "somewhat normal" to have these things happen. 😔

I was thinking the exact same... How could she be laughing it off now? It's infuriating.. I am very thankful she spreads awareness but getting riled up is like the least to do when someone is touching you without your consent, she should not have been apologetic for it. Her reaction and getting emotional back then was exactly right.

It's really terrible that there are even immigration officers in some countries which will commit harassment on women. Although I know that the best idea would have been to report the individual, sharing awareness like this is a great response to that. No matter where you are in the world, any form of harassment including sexual harassment is never okay! The more people are aware about this while traveling the world, the more I feel that people including solo female travelers will take action and hopefully end these unethical practices in this world!
omg that reminds me of a story I experienced travelling alone as a woman in Bangkok. I was on a night train a few year back when I was 19, visiting my boyfriend who was working in a hostel on an island across the country. I had no make-up on, my hair in braids and comfy clothes since I was going to be on the train all night. Considering I still look about 18 with 25, imagien how young I must have looked back then!! Before the train departed it was waiting on the platfom and I was just sitting and waiting in the train. On the parralel platform in another train there was an old white guy who was starring at me. I looked away and when I looked back at him again because I saw movement, I had to witness him jerk off while starring at me!! I was also so in shock that I didn't manage to do anything but look away. Still my biggest regret ever, that I didn't manage to get help or speak up to the train staff...
That's disgusting. A guy like that in that part of the world; there's a pretty good chance he was there for sex tourism. I can't imagine what it must be like for a teenage girl that not only isn't able to get away from those creeps, but actually have to 'service' them because their family is desperate for the money and this the most marketable skill they have. I can't fathom how can someone think there's nothing wrong with exploiting people living in poverty like that just because the girl would claim to be 18 years old (if he even bothers to ask) and because he hands over a few dollars.

Pushing that guy overboard in Indonesia wouldn't be considered extreme in my opinion. Of course the law would unfortunately be on their side but, in a perfect world, making them swim to shore would be going easy on them.
I have been born and raised in India. And it's true. When I was 12 years old, random guy kept groping me while we were all walking in a crowd in Broad daylight and I didn't even understand what was happening, until I was way older and later on realised. Also when older in my 20s now, on the very first date, a guy forced physical intimacy non consensual in a self righteous way. Anyone going to India beware specially some particular cities.
I am a boy in a good situation, yet at my school these uncomfortable topics are often avoided by teachers. When the topics are brought up though, a lot of kids just kind of shrug it off. Also little acts of sexism and racism are everywhere even without intent of harm. I think this is in great part because kids never really get educated about these topics and never get taught the severity of these things unless you experience it. I think we need to start spreading the message more through education so the next generation knows better because if not then kids like us will be more inclined to continue this deadly pattern. Probably no-one is going to read this, but if someone does, put a angry face e-moji and lets make a mini you-tube stand against sexism, racism, LGBTQ disrespect etc. Here on Lexies channel🤬
Being from South America I never go out by myself bc of the harassment, but I was surprised when I visited Germany and was walking through a park and was followed by a group of what seemed drunk teenagers and they wouldn’t leave me alone, so I guess it does happen everywhere 🤦🏻♀️
@@internetexplorer7143 not china I was born and lived there for 18 years. I was harassed since I was 12 years old when I used to walk down to the bus stop near my house. the harras was consistent and even when my mom walked with me, they would still do it to the both of us

Wow I'm sorry you had to go through that Lexie! One of my worst experiences traveling alone as a woman was in Cambodia. I was going to a night market at 9pm, my stomache had been hurting but I thought it was pms so I would toughen out. I suddenly realized that I was food poisoned after walking almost all the way there. I threw up by the river and I sat down feeling like crap not knowing what to do, since I did not have energy to walk back to my hostel and worried about taking a taxi when I was feeling so sick. A man approached me. Also a tourist. He was sort of flirty in his manner. He asked me why I was sad. i said no I'm not sad,I'm sick...he proceeds to ask me where my hotel/hostel was and said that I can't go there it is too far, even though I said it's only 5min by cab. He kept trying to persuade me to go to his hotel instead......trying to convince me I am too sick to go and his hotel was right there and he could take me to hospital the next day...of course I didn't, but I felt so weak and exposed being this sick alone and how he had the nerve to try to exploit this situation..if I had not been sick I could just walk away but I couldn't.. Finally I mastered some strength to get a cab..but when I was walking to it and he walked beside me and his friends were cheering as if he was going to "get some"...ugh..I made it back safely luckily! But I see how this situation could have got a lot worse quickly. Stay safe everyone!
Good...that u were able to avoid a bad situation becoming much worse....As for people being so inhuman to take advantage of someone in distress...I always remember what my grandma said when I was kid....Most of the people are sheeps....Then there are wolves who prey on the sheeps and a very minority of people are sheep dogs who protect the sheeps from the wolves.
As women we go through creepy ass harassment on the daily even here in America. I've almost been kidnapped, I've been followed, etc etc. I've grown thicker skin and when I am out I'm in survival mode and I am not afraid to take someone down if I feel threatened. Unfortunately that is the world we live in.

As another solo female traveller, I’ve been forced into quite a few of these dangerous, horrible situations, it’s scary and the reality of it is very sad that we can’t travel without this added danger, but it’s worth it for the life that we want to live 🥰

Im 22 years old, in a perfect world i would wear anything i want.. but the sad reality is the fact that i need to adjust the way i dress to protect myself.. i don’t know why men get intimidated by the way a woman dressed and think they have the right to harass her because “she asked for it”.. parents need to work on changing this mentality for better generations.. i do get it when someone changes the way they dress to respect a culture and blend in, but its sad when someone have to do it to simply protect themselves..

Every guy needs to experience going clubbing with a group of female friends as you soon realise how disgusting guys can be. The amount of subtle defending i've had to do just to prevent my friends from being touched saddens me so much.

Wow, crazy stories! I also had several issues in Raja Ampat, but none as serious as sexual harassment. I feel very privileged to have been able to travel anywhere in the world without having to worry about the issues that are a constant for you as a solo female traveler. As someone who travels every weekend in europe, staying in hostels and etc seeing a bunch of solo women travelers. The thought if I was a chick traveling alone would freak me out. So many things happen to female solo travelers that i don't even really have to think about. For example: i know so many solo women travelers that got their passports stolen while travelling or have been taken advantage of in central europe. No wonder these solo travel influencers meet up all the time, they don't have to worry as much, they can somewhat put their guard down, and live life. I've noticed that even small things like weather can impact the way you think about a city, sure this doesn't impact someone who is running off "travel once a year trip adrenaline" but someone like me who travels every weekend it's easy to forget about the places you've been to due to something as simple as bad weather. Imagine having some sort of scary experience like these? 1 person can singlehandedly can ruin your outlook on a whole country.

the fact that men don't have to be perpetually afraid of being harassed and assaulted and are essentially free to travel without that constant fear makes me feel so frustrated

Lexie, im a 20 year old and I do live in India myself. I totally relate to what you said. It's sad but that's a women's life in India every day. Even when we are fully clothed, the stares don't stop. It's uncomfortable and disgusting. I'm sure you must have experienced some other things too in India but probably didn't put it in the video cause India is a rough place. Whenever I have travel abroad, I have felt so safe it's surreal. The situation in India is still the same and it probably will be always. However places like Andaman Islands in India are safe so if you ever want to come back, go the islands ❤️ they are beautiful and safe❤️❤️ I'm so sorry about the basement incident. That's so messed uppp. This video actually scares me to travel. Indonesia one shocked me. I always thought it to be a country safe for women lol

From my experience in Bangalore I find all my friends who are girls feel very safe here, including the late night clubbing in places like koramangala.. From my perspective it has been very safe.. Although not sure about how much of it depends on the exact places (because india is a huge country) and one's lifestyle

this is so sad. But i sadly think we all have had those type of experiences. The situations that just keept popping up in my head are from when i travelled to belgium. Before i went i did not think that this would be a county i will remember having those situations in (I manly have good memories of Belgium tho) . I have never been anywhere where so many men were looking at me in the streets with those disgusting looks, or others just walking up to me and my friend, starting to talk to us and not leaving us alone. I had one man who walked past me and mumbled something abaut how i looked, i just kept walking minding my own business when he turned around and kept following me till i told him to leave me alone. He then proceded to invite me to his place and i had to decline multiple times before i was left alone. A couple days later the exact same thing happened to me but this time the man got on his bike to follow me around. I was wearing cloth that i would compare to potato sacks and definetly not signaizing that i want to be talked to. I have to say tho that apart of the men experiences i had in Belgium. Its still been an amazing trip and i wuld go back any time. Ghent is one of my favourite city and i would encourage everyone to travel there. Just be prepared that you might have to tell some men to leave you alone.
i live in Brussels, and omg the harassments that there is is unbelievable. fortunately, there's much more to Brussels and Belgium but there's definitely a big problem concerning the street harassments
Well done! Fear is something I believe stops many from traveling but it’s helpful to remember to not do things you wouldn’t “in the bad part of your own town”. Danger isn’t just “out there” and to deny ourselves the world is to deny ourselves invaluable life experiences!
About that India story Lexie, I am genuinely sorry you had to face that. As an Indian myself, I can say that our society is way conservative,yes, and I find very little surprise that you had to go through that, as I have gone through it too without even wearing so-called "revealing clothes", truth is, I've made peace with it, Although, I do believe things are changing here and for the better. The men that made you uncomfortable, will pay their price as well. I feel so sorry to hear this as an Indian. But I genuinely hope that doesn't create much of a bad impression either of us,(if it already has, well welp, but I'm here to tell you that;) we truly respect our guests and even have a phrase called "Atithi devo bhava" in sanskrit! which means guests are like God in our culture, and at least I take that seriously :). As a young kid, with not that much exposure to all these,i'm sure you must have felt really uncomfortable and new in that situation, but I, as a person hope you weren't scarred by it. India is a true heaven, it is a huge subcontinent , so judging it by just a few few people is entirely wrong, this is a country which has changed people's lives, get into spirituality, you'll understand, i mean i now see the west following "yoga" and all of that but there's a lot more to it, even yoga for example. can change your lives, i did meditation(actual, one by an actual guru, not just hotyoga.) i mean, whether it works for you or not, this country has done wonders for most people! hope you visit a place that'll make you realise that next time🙏❤️ literaly, CHANGED A PERSON. the history, culture, literature, science, everything here is just, wayy too much to speak and honestly better witnessed, i hope you see that too. As an Australian-Indonesian born and raised in Indonesia, I always thought people were dramatic when they felt that Indonesia was unsafe. That is until I moved to Australia and realized how often I was sexually harassed in Indonesia. Being catcalled everyday on my walk to and from school should not be the norm! Being sexually assaulted on the main street in broad daylight is absolutely ridiculous! The amount of victim blaming is also beyond crazy. It's never because of how you dress, (or in my case my ethnicity being half caucasian) it's always the perpetrators fault. It makes me mad thinking about how desensitized I was to all this to the point where I thought that that was just how things were despite how uncomfortable and terrified it made me. There is so much more to say about this...
As a Indian I can vouch for that. Even in the metro cities female with short dress not only foreigners get very creepy looks. It is very unsettling and uncomfortable for any female. I hope when you visit next time you will have a great experience.
Well done for calling him out! So easy to freeze and be in shock when something so inappropriate and just wrong happens, but drawing attention to and embarrassing the person doing this (and ideally reporting if possible) is definitely the best thing you can do :) No shame in being angry at it!
Hello Lexi! I'm from Indonesia. I'm sorry what you had to go through in Raja Ampat, Papua, Indonesia. As an Indonesian citizen and also a solo female traveler too, I know that these awful things are still happening with locals and foreign women😔 Besides that, I believe that not all people in Indonesia are like that. There are still many places that show that Indonesia's people are very friendly and kind. I guess in all overpopulated countries, there are so much issues too. Not an Indonesian, but I come from an overpopulated nation too. Let's hope the world will be better and safer, and less harsh for women by the next years to come. This must be our legacy to our daughters, nieces, granddaughters, grandnieces, etc.

I deeply resonate with you as me too since I was young I have always traveled most of the year with my family (more than 6/7 months) all Over the world for work, volounteering, downright crazy experiences and adventures (also because we do that for work too!) Like, the experience in India hit me hard too. I was about your same age when I first went there for volounteering during the years (12) and literally the same thing happened to me. I have felt alienated for a lot of time in my life because of such a different lifestyle but listening to you is a beautiful feeling❤️

Sadly if I were you I’d be traveling with Thomas for like the rest of my life out of fear. It’s really hard because those things can really change you and how you move on with your life you have many trust issues and it’s hard to let go of them. I’ve never been in a situation like this and I am thankful for that but it’s strange how I can almost feel the way you must have just being a female as well. Chère Lexie! If I may, I am a huge fan of your work, for the inspiration, the vulnerability, the good story telling, and spot-on sponsor plug-in as well as content. I hope to write something here for who identify as women here, noting that as a male I carry certain privileges in society and I own up to it. I am sorry for the experiences you had, the behavior of these men is inexcusable, both from outside and within their cultures. We do not live in a perfect world, and this raw, yet diplomatic re-telling reminds us that we all must do our part to call out this behavior, root out the attitudes and systems that produce and enable it, and refrain from promoting a cognitive dissonance that blames victims than perpetrators. If I may, it is not okay EVER: not in an airport, hotel, or ferry, not in a club or bar, and not in the street or at home. You had the international experience, which allows me as a Palauan and Pacific Islander to begin there and call out worldwide: teach your sons not to harass women, not to engage in any behavior without consent, not to objectify and make inappropriate comments, and to never blame victims. I apologize if I detracted a bit or tried to "mans-plain" anything, but as a male viewer, this content is critical and crucial for uncovering for encountering the real world: rich, yet also darker. We do hope to continue to find inner light to shed all this darkness.

I'm sorry that you had to endure these experiences. I feel awful about the lady whose baggage was stolen on a boat. I also travelled solo around the world, including warzones, and have been a victim of pickpocketing, harassment, and discrimination, but being a man, was never in any serious danger. It is certainly easier to travel with a fellow traveler for safety and to commiserate with, even if it is someone like mom. :-)

To all the other men here: guys, I know that plenty of us know that this kind of behavior is wrong and that we would never do it ourselves. With that said, we have a responsibility to go ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure that other men do not get away with this kind of disgusting behavior. This includes calling people out when they do this, engaging in uncomfortable (but necessary) conversations, and condemn + correct any sort of comment, action, or idea that might encourage and/or tolerate emotional and physical harassment. We have to stand up for the change that we want to see and take action so that the women on this planet can live freely and without fear that they will have to go through these experiences just for being women. We are all people and deserve to be respected. Let's do better.

I was thinking the exact same... How could she be laughing it off now? It's infuriating.. I am very thankful she spreads awareness but getting riled up is like the least to do when someone is touching you without your consent, she should not have been apologetic for it. It's really terrible that there are even immigration officers in some countries which will commit harassment on women. Although I know that the best idea would have been to report the individual, sharing awareness like this is a great response to that. No matter where you are in the world, any form of harassment including sexual harassment is never okay! The more people are aware about this while traveling the world, the more I feel that people including solo female travelers will take action and hopefully end these unethical practices in this world!

omg that reminds me of a story I experienced travelling alone as a woman in Bangkok. I was on a night train a few year back when I was 19, visiting my boyfriend who was working in a hostel on an island across the country. I had no make-up on, my hair in braids and comfy clothes since I was going to be on the train all night. Considering I still look about 18 with 25, imagien how young I must have looked back then!! Before the train departed it was waiting on the platfom and I was just sitting and waiting in the train. On the parralel platform in another train there was an old white guy who was starring at me. I looked away and when I looked back at him again because I saw movement, I had to witness him jerk off while starring at me!! I was also so in shock that I didn't manage to do anything but look away. Still my biggest regret ever, that I didn't manage to get help or speak up to the train staff...
Such a sad and common thing to happen. What has gotten into mens' heads whereas they think these things are okay???!
That's disgusting. A guy like that in that part of the world; there's a pretty good chance he was there for sex tourism. I can't imagine what it must be like for a teenage girl that not only isn't able to get away from those creeps, but actually have to 'service' them because their family is desperate for the money and this the most marketable skill they have. I can't fathom how can someone think there's nothing wrong with exploiting people living in poverty like that just because the girl would claim to be 18 years old (if he even bothers to ask) and because he hands over a few dollars.

I have been born and raised in India. And it's true. When I was 12 years old, random guy kept groping me while we were all walking in a crowd in Broad daylight and I didn't even understand what was happening, until I was way older and later on realised. Also when older in my 20s now, on the very first date, a guy forced physical intimacy non consensual in a self righteous way. Anyone going to India beware specially some particular cities.
I am a boy in a good situation, yet at my school these uncomfortable topics are often avoided by teachers. When the topics are brought up though, a lot of kids just kind of shrug it off. Also little acts of sexism and racism are everywhere even without intent of harm. I think this is in great part because kids never really get educated about these topics and never get taught the severity of these things unless you experience it. I think we need to start spreading the message more through education so the next generation knows better because if not then kids like us will be more inclined to continue this deadly pattern. Probably no-one is going to read this, but if someone does, put a angry face e-moji and lets make a mini you-tube stand against sexism, racism, LGBTQ disrespect etc. Here on Lexies channel🤬

Being from South America I never go out by myself bc of the harassment, but I was surprised when I visited Germany and was walking through a park and was followed by a group of what seemed drunk teenagers and they wouldn’t leave me alone, so I guess it does happen everywhere 🤦🏻♀️

One of my worst experiences traveling alone as a woman was in Cambodia. I was going to a night market at 9pm, my stomache had been hurting but I thought it was pms so I would toughen out. I suddenly realized that I was food poisoned after walking almost all the way there. I threw up by the river and I sat down feeling like crap not knowing what to do, since I did not have energy to walk back to my hostel and worried about taking a taxi when I was feeling so sick.
A man approached me. Also a tourist. He was sort of flirty in his manner. He asked me why I was sad. i said no I'm not sad,I'm sick...he proceeds to ask me where my hotel/hostel was and said that I can't go there it is too far, even though I said it's only 5min by cab. He kept trying to persuade me to go to his hotel instead......trying to convince me I am too sick to go and his hotel was right there and he could take me to hospital the next day...of course I didn't, but I felt so weak and exposed being this sick alone and how he had the nerve to try to exploit this situation..if I had not been sick I could just walk away but I couldn't.. Finally I mastered some strength to get a cab..but when I was walking to it and he walked beside me and his friends were cheering as if he was going to "get some"...ugh..I made it back safely luckily! But I see how this situation could have got a lot worse quickly.

As women we go through creepy ass harassment on the daily even here in America. I've almost been kidnapped, I've been followed, etc etc. I've grown thicker skin and when I am out I'm in survival mode and I am not afraid to take someone down if I feel threatened. Being a person of Indian origin, I would like to apologize on behalf of those who made you uncomfortable with their actions while you were in India. I am planning to write a letter to the PM of India about your experience and see what can be done at the Government and system level to make sure this does not happen again while we hope and pray for the mentality of the people to change.
As another solo female traveller, I’ve been forced into quite a few of these dangerous, horrible situations, it’s scary and the reality of it is very sad that we can’t travel without this added danger, but it’s worth it for the life that we want to live 🥰

Im 22 years old, in a perfect world i would wear anything i want.. but the sad reality is the fact that i need to adjust the way i dress to protect myself.. i don’t know why men get intimidated by the way a woman dressed and think they have the right to harass her because “she asked for it”.. parents need to work on changing this mentality for better generations.. i do get it when someone changes the way they dress to respect a culture and blend in, but its sad when someone have to do it to simply protect themselves..

Wow, crazy stories! I also had several issues in Raja Ampat, but none as serious as sexual harassment. I feel very privileged to have been able to travel anywhere in the world without having to worry about the issues that are a constant for you as a solo female traveler. As someone who travels every weekend in europe, staying in hostels and etc seeing a bunch of solo women travelers. The thought if I was a chick traveling alone would freak me out. So many things happen to female solo travelers that i don't even really have to think about. For example: i know so many solo women travelers that got their passports stolen while travelling or have been taken advantage of in central europe.
No wonder these solo travel influencers meet up all the time, they don't have to worry as much, they can somewhat put their guard down, and live life.
I've noticed that even small things like weather can impact the way you think about a city, sure this doesn't impact someone who is running off "travel once a year trip adrenaline" but someone like me who travels every weekend it's easy to forget about the places you've been to due to something as simple as bad weather. Imagine having some sort of scary experience like these? 1 person can singlehandedly can ruin your outlook on a whole country.
Such an eye opening video. And I love the tips at the end, just as important for men too. It’s so easy for me to let my guard down or not be able to distinguish what’s cultural/ a custom from what’s a total scam haha

Whenever I have travel abroad, I have felt so safe it's surreal.
The situation in India is still the same and it probably will be always. However places like Andaman Islands in India are safe so if you ever want to come back, go the islands ❤️ they are beautiful and safe❤️❤️

From my experience in Bangalore I find all my friends who are girls feel very safe here, including the late night clubbing in places like koramangala.. From my perspective it has been very safe.. Although not sure about how much of it depends on the exact places (because india is a huge country) and one's lifestyle

this is so sad. But i sadly think we all have had those type of experiences. The situations that just keept popping up in my head are from when i travelled to belgium. Before i went i did not think that this would be a county i will remember having those situations in (I manly have good memories of Belgium tho) . I have never been anywhere where so many men were looking at me in the streets with those disgusting looks, or others just walking up to me and my friend, starting to talk to us and not leaving us alone. I had one man who walked past me and mumbled something abaut how i looked, i just kept walking minding my own business when he turned around and kept following me till i told him to leave me alone. He then proceded to invite me to his place and i had to decline multiple times before i was left alone. A couple days later the exact same thing happened to me but this time the man got on his bike to follow me around. I was wearing cloth that i would compare to potato sacks and definetly not signaizing that i want to be talked to. I have to say tho that apart of the men experiences i had in Belgium. Its still been an amazing trip and i wuld go back any time. Ghent is one of my favourite city and i would encourage everyone to travel there. Just be prepared that you might have to tell some men to leave you alone.

Well done! Fear is something I believe stops many from traveling but it’s helpful to remember to not do things you wouldn’t “in the bad part of your own town”. Danger isn’t just “out there” and to deny ourselves the world is to deny ourselves invaluable life experiences!
About that India story Lexie, I am genuinely sorry you had to face that. As an Indian myself, I can say that our society is way conservative,yes, and I find very little surprise that you had to go through that, as I have gone through it too without even wearing so-called "revealing clothes", truth is, I've made peace with it, Although, I do believe things are changing here and for the better.
The men that made you uncomfortable, will pay their price as well. I feel so sorry to hear this as an Indian. But I genuinely hope that doesn't create much of a bad impression either of us,(if it already has, well welp, but I'm here to tell you that;) we truly respect our guests and even have a phrase called "Atithi devo bhava" in sanskrit! which means guests are like God in our culture, and at least I take that seriously :). As a young kid, with not that much exposure to all these,i'm sure you must have felt really uncomfortable and new in that situation, but I, as a person hope you weren't scarred by it.

As an Australian-Indonesian born and raised in Indonesia, I always thought people were dramatic when they felt that Indonesia was unsafe. That is until I moved to Australia and realized how often I was sexually harassed in Indonesia. Being catcalled everyday on my walk to and from school should not be the norm! Being sexually assaulted on the main street in broad daylight is absolutely ridiculous! The amount of victim blaming is also beyond crazy. It's never because of how you dress, (or in my case my ethnicity being half caucasian) it's always the perpetrators fault. It makes me mad thinking about how desensitized I was to all this to the point where I thought that that was just how things were despite how uncomfortable and terrified it made me. There is so much more to say about this...

As an Indonesian citizen and also a solo female traveler too, I know that these awful things are still happening with locals and foreign women😔 Besides that, I believe that not all people in Indonesia are like that. There are still many places that show that Indonesia's people are very friendly and kind. I guess in all overpopulated countries, there are so much issues too. Not an Indonesian, but I come from an overpopulated nation too. Let's hope the world will be better and safer, and less harsh for women by the next years to come. This must be our legacy to our daughters, nieces, granddaughters, grandnieces, etc.
when that guy from yes theory asked his girlfriend about how is india for travelling? his girlfriend gave a very unexpected reply saying that india is a very harsh place and they will eat you alive . now i know the reason of why his girlfriend developed such a perception about india !!!!

I deeply resonate with you as me too since I was young I have always traveled most of the year with my family (more than 6/7 months) all Over the world for work, volounteering, downright crazy experiences and adventures (also because we do that for work too!) Like, the experience in India hit me hard too. I was about your same age when I first went there for volounteering during the years (12) and literally the same thing happened to me. I have felt alienated for a lot of time in my life because of such a different lifestyle but listening to you is a beautiful feeling❤️

Sadly if I were you I’d be traveling with Thomas for like the rest of my life out of fear. It’s really hard because those things can really change you and how you move on with your life you have many trust issues and it’s hard to let go of them. I’ve never been in a situation like this and I am thankful for that but it’s strange how I can almost feel the way you must have just being a female as well. Sad times and I pray for the day that this is eradicated 👏🤍
Also I appreciate how strong you are to talk about these things when I’m sure you want to just forget about them but just know they will help so many people who have been in similar scenarios💛

If I may, I am a huge fan of your work, for the inspiration, the vulnerability, the good story telling, and spot-on sponsor plug-in as well as content. I hope to write something here for who identify as women here, noting that as a male I carry certain privileges in society and I own up to it. I am sorry for the experiences you had, the behavior of these men is inexcusable, both from outside and within their cultures. We do not live in a perfect world, and this raw, yet diplomatic re-telling reminds us that we all must do our part to call out this behavior, root out the attitudes and systems that produce and enable it, and refrain from promoting a cognitive dissonance that blames victims than perpetrators. If I may, it is not okay EVER: not in an airport, hotel, or ferry, not in a club or bar, and not in the street or at home. You had the international experience, which allows me as a Palauan and Pacific Islander to begin there and call out worldwide: teach your sons not to harass women, not to engage in any behavior without consent, not to objectify and make inappropriate comments, and to never blame victims. I apologize if I detracted a bit or tried to "mans-plain" anything, but as a male viewer, this content is critical and crucial for uncovering for encountering the real world: rich, yet also darker. We do hope to continue to find inner light to shed all this darkness.

I'm sorry that you had to endure these experiences. I feel awful about the lady whose baggage was stolen on a boat. I also travelled solo around the world, including warzones, and have been a victim of pickpocketing, harassment, and discrimination, but being a man, was never in any serious danger. It is certainly easier to travel with a fellow traveler for safety and to commiserate with, even if it is someone like mom. :-)
