The "Gut Walk" is incredibly important. The very first time I traveled abroad (and was alone!!!), I felt terrified to leave my room. I'm naturally extroverted, so I was surprised I felt that way. It took me a good 2-3 hours before I had the confidence to go outside and start walking around. That day, I met all of my best and close friends! Forever thankful I had the courage to go out! Since then, I travel by myself all the time. There's nothing quite as nice as knowing you can depend on yourself and see the world on your own 🤗
Thats Awesome! Imagine if you went straight out the door. You might of never met your best and close friends. Everything happens for a reason (I think).. I so appreciate you building up the confidence to go! The "Gut Walk" are so much fun!
Difference between a tourist and a explorer is that one watches the new culture, the other one becomes one with the culture. The latter is the most satisfying and also mirrors your point of not calling attention. Great vid Lexie!
I HIGHLY recommend that everyone in high school after they graduate take a gap year. I did it, I left everyone I know here in the US in Philly at 18 to live in Spain where I don't know the language or anyone there. I went there to learn the language and I have no regrets. While living there I did many solo backpacking trips around Europe and the experience I had no university can teach you. The awesome friends I met the confidence I got the appreciation for life was all worth it. After traveling solo I now rather travel solo than with a group, or with friends. I think of it like this once you graduate from high school you really will never have the time in your life to tak a WHOLE year off and do whatever you want. Whether that's traveling. Think about it. If you go to college you're going to be busy studying and will only have the summer to enjoy your time off. Now once you graduate college you're an adult you have a degree and you now need an actual job. Now you're an adult and working and won't have time util your retire to take a full year off and travel or do whatever you want. Why wait till your mid-60s to do that? Why not do it when you're young at 18 19. Now yes, your parents will not like the idea, but you're 18 you can do whatever you want. Even if you take a year off you're not going to be on the streets and lose out on your degree. You still be able to get the degree you want even if you take a year off is not going to affect that at all. If anything it's going to help. I'm going to school for nursing. Yes, I'm behind 1 and a half now, but I can speak Spanish. Now being in the medical field in the US and being able to speak Spanish is so helpful. I think a hospital would take me a student that took longer to get his degree but can speak Spanish than someone that got their degree quicker. At the end of the day, it's your life you take control. I am the same way when it comes to planning trips! I almost always have some set itinerary for what I plan to do in a destination even if it is a place I have been to several times such as Boston. It gives me more control of what I would like to do and an easier way to budget the trip. I did hear from another traveler to also include some room for spontaneity too as things may not always go to plan or something really fun can pop out of nowhere that would be really intriguing. In addition, I also like the tip about telling family or close friends where you are going just in case something happens. I always let my parents know where I plan to go just to be safe!
From last 3 years after completing my 12th, I was following what my heart say, I was searching for the real purpose of my life and what I am truly passionate about and wants to do for rest of my life. Start with thailand/australia/canada/ peru/ costa rica or any countries in those line where safety is very high (choose according to preference and budget)…. Or you can start solo in africa like I did, but wouldnt reccommend, it needs more « travel awarness » and patience that other countries will develop first 😅

My inspiration for my first solo trip was a friend of mine going to Japan on his own. Since I was planning to go to WDW in Florida that was my impetus to go alone. I've since made another solo trip to London and when Covid finally gets lost I'm going to London again
Can you make a video on how you cope/deal with anxiety and stress while traveling? You said you do meditation, can you share more in detail please. Loving your videos btw :)
I think bringing pills with you for the most common things like headache, stomachache, flu or something else that you experience often is always a good idea
It may sound obvious for some but not for others - Some tricks Make sure you get all vaccines/shots if the area you're going to has specific hazards. Some popular ''travel vaccines'' include those to protect against: - Hepatitis A - Hepatitis B - Typhoid and paratyphoid fever - Meningococcal disease - Yellow Fever - Rabies Japanese Encephalitis Make a traveler's medkit that includes: - Analgesics (go with 3 types - Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Acetylsalicylic Acid - also known as Advil, Tylenol and Aspirin) - Antihistamine, both cream and pills for mild allergic reactions - Immodium, for diarrhea _(also covers Traveler's diarrhea )_ - Hydrocortisone _(anti itch cream, good for insect bites, skin reactions, etc)_ - Insect repellent with DEET if in a mosquito/fly heavy zone - Sunscreen - Antacid _(to relieve heartburn/upset stomach)_ Then there are more specific addons such as - Antifungal lotion - Antibacterial ointment - Antibiotic for severe traveler's diarrhea - Antimalarial drugs, if prescribed by your doctor Read up on health and safety for your destinations. Some destinations recommend - Only drinking from sealed water bottles - Never eat pre-cut fruits and fresh produce _(buy the fruit or vegetable whole and clean it thoroughly)_ Always wash your hands before eating or touching your face, eyes, etc *_Always make sure you get enough sleep especially the first nights when changing timezones_* - it can be very taxing on your body, deplete your energy levels and also weaken your immune system. Drink often - but that's a life trick, not limited to travel! Don't wait to be thirsty to drink, always drink a little throughout the day
Make sure you're bringing enough medication with you for headaches, upset stomach, potential flu. Get vaccinations for areas with viruses that are high risk like malaria, yellow fever etc. Carry a 1st aid kit with you. This is essential!
Arriving late in Seville,we found all hotels closed and no one would open up for us. We found a spot in the park to get some sleep before morning. Getting in late to NOLA we decided to spend the night on the gambling boats,we actually made a few bucks too. Then after breakfast we found a spot to stay.

I wish I had been free when I was at 20 years old .you know, in my country It’s arduous to get permission from your family and travel alone whether you are mature or immature .in other word it’s taboo.
I made my first travel solo at 17 years old.. 8 months in USA to learn english And I was so scared at first since im very shy and almost didnt know any english at the time but once you get there you build a strenght and you overcome every situation so there are nothing to be scared
Very impt video!!!! Ty Lexie! I don't have the guts to do this, lol. I think.... Starting small is key.... Start with the rest of Canada, US, London, keep moving bigger 🤣
LOL strange people working as unofficial "taxi drivers" at airports is wild and very much a thing. I had a similar experience in Medellin, Colombia (my favorite place on earth!) and followed this guy who was being really persistent out to his car in a far off spot in the parking lot. It turned out he really was just a dude trying to make money driving people, but it could have ended badly, especially since the airport in Medellin is a looonnnnng drive from the city on top of a mountain. There's also more than one way to get to the airport, as I found out on multiple trips back to Medellin. One time a taxi driver took me a way I'd never been before and we went through an EXTREMELY poor and run down part of town. I was fully prepared to try and jump out the car if I had to because I remember thinking "THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO THE AIRPORT" LOL. The driver was really nice, though, and started playing Michael Jackson CDs LOL (yes, real CDs). We ended up going on the most scenic drive I've ever been on in my life and avoided most of the traffic.
I have traveled all over the world as well, a couple of times solo. But I can only imagine how much more on guard you have to be if you're a female solo traveler. I have found that many women who fear solo travel but want to see the world join Contiki Tours, where they are joined together as a group and make lifelong friendships through traveling together. But you do lose the freedom of moving where you want at any time, and are on an itinerary. I did it solo and still had a fantastic time. Pros and Cons.
Regularly going to the same local hubs like town squares, cafes etc. is a good way to meet locals, as people will start to recognize you. Walking/using public transit is a more social way to get around too! On approaching people randomly (I struggle with this too) I recently saw a vid from Jo Franco where she said, in her experience, 9/10 people are open to being approached. Ever since I heard that, I've felt less anxious (I assumed it would be 1/10..) a good perspective coupled with using intuition will take you far 😊 As for what to say, once you say "how are you?", "do you speak english?", "where are you from?" etc. it goes from there! Try to learn some things about the culture/language, and people will appreciate it a ton, and they'll likely teach you more, introduce you to people etc. Good luck fellow traveler✨
I had experiences where I approached unknown people in various countries. First, I look for similarities where I can draw attention and relate discussions with the individual (female/ male, ) Dress, (age) do they look lost as myself, (Similar reactions to culture, food, tour, ) eye contact. Do they seem friendly, sad, depress, etc. (Sitting at a table near them or a seat near them, ) Lastly, always have a plan to excuse yourself or to abandon the situation if inappropriate mix. (Where did you get that souvenir? Do you like that meal? Have you been to such and such place? You remind me of a friend at home) If they do not add or contribute, I say okay ..Thank you and bye.
Going to victoria bc still always feels strange. Because it is strange. Even though its just 60 kms. away . Anything more foreign than that, forget it .
Someone like me who has not travelled other countries is a little bit frustrating because I am not used to travel alone and especially places I do not know so maybe in the future with my partner I will travel.

1. Don't wander alone at night

Just look up how to do it, you can't really go wrong with meditation
Can you share tips for taking care of yourself like avoiding disease or what to do when you get sick when solo travel?
I think bringing pills with you for the most common things like headache, stomachache, flu or something else that you experience often is always a good idea
It may sound obvious for some but not for others - Some tricks
Make sure you get all vaccines/shots if the area you're going to has specific hazards. Some popular ''travel vaccines'' include those to protect against:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Typhoid and paratyphoid fever
- Meningococcal disease
- Yellow Fever
- Rabies
Japanese Encephalitis
Make a traveler's medkit that includes:
- Analgesics (go with 3 types - Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Acetylsalicylic Acid - also known as Advil, Tylenol and Aspirin)
- Antihistamine, both cream and pills for mild allergic reactions
- Immodium, for diarrhea _(also covers Traveler's diarrhea )_
- Hydrocortisone _(anti itch cream, good for insect bites, skin reactions, etc)_
- Insect repellent with DEET if in a mosquito/fly heavy zone
- Sunscreen
- Antacid _(to relieve heartburn/upset stomach)_
Then there are more specific addons such as
- Antifungal lotion
- Antibacterial ointment
- Antibiotic for severe traveler's diarrhea
- Antimalarial drugs, if prescribed by your doctor
Read up on health and safety for your destinations. Some destinations recommend
- Only drinking from sealed water bottles
- Never eat pre-cut fruits and fresh produce _(buy the fruit or vegetable whole and clean it thoroughly)_
Always wash your hands before eating or touching your face, eyes, etc
*_Always make sure you get enough sleep especially the first nights when changing timezones_* - it can be very taxing on your body, deplete your energy levels and also weaken your immune system.
Drink often - but that's a life trick, not limited to travel! Don't wait to be thirsty to drink, always drink a little throughout the day
Thank you 🙏
Make sure you're bringing enough medication with you for headaches, upset stomach, potential flu. Get vaccinations for areas with viruses that are high risk like malaria, yellow fever etc. Carry a 1st aid kit with you. This is essential!
@@WanderlustWithT thank you 🙌

You gave me a positive vibes 😌how i miss traveling !!!
So happy to see your channel I’ve travel a lot by myself.
Arriving late in Seville,we found all hotels closed and no one would open up for us.
We found a spot in the park to get some sleep before morning. Getting in late to NOLA
we decided to spend the night on the gambling boats,we actually made a few bucks too.
Then after breakfast we found a spot to stay.
Loved the video ! Very informative!
Lol that moment at 1:01 looked a bit awkward. Great advice 👍
Yeah nah if i was in that position I would call that solo trip done. LUL

I wish I had been free when I was at 20 years old .you know, in my country It’s arduous to get permission from your family and travel alone whether you are mature or immature .in other word it’s taboo.
Thank you, Lexie!!! Legend!
I loved your tedex talk!!!
Loving all the travel clips in this video 🤩
I made my first travel solo at 17 years old.. 8 months in USA to learn english
And I was so scared at first since im very shy and almost didnt know any english at the time but once you get there you build a strenght and you overcome every situation so there are nothing to be scared
Awesome tips Lexie!
Have you visited Kazakhstan? My place, we have nice mountains here and kind people of course
Yes, she’s been to every country :)
Very impt video!!!! Ty Lexie! I don't have the guts to do this, lol. I think.... Starting small is key.... Start with the rest of Canada, US, London, keep moving bigger 🤣
Appreciate your video! keep it up!
We ended up going on the most scenic drive I've ever been on in my life and avoided most of the traffic.
thank you so much for this !!!! It'd help me a lots!!!!
How much time goes into planning anew trip? Do you have a vid on how to plan a trip?
I do gut walks most of the time when im travelling!!
Lexie is generally charismatic and likeable. I know, she wasn't like this at her high school years. I guess, travelling a lot makes you this.
Loved it!!
I find that prayer is a great way to calm my nerves and center myself.
Respect ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Enjoy
You are underrated dear.
3:41 Looks like the Bangkok airport. I don't think Thai Airways flies to Tunis.
Would love some advice on making local friends...cuz that terrifies me... how do even approach people? What do you say?
Regularly going to the same local hubs like town squares, cafes etc. is a good way to meet locals, as people will start to recognize you. Walking/using public transit is a more social way to get around too!
On approaching people randomly (I struggle with this too) I recently saw a vid from Jo Franco where she said, in her experience, 9/10 people are open to being approached. Ever since I heard that, I've felt less anxious (I assumed it would be 1/10..) a good perspective coupled with using intuition will take you far 😊
As for what to say, once you say "how are you?", "do you speak english?", "where are you from?" etc. it goes from there!
Oh my gosh I'm an introverted extrovert as well!!
Thank you so much for creating these amazing and useful videos! How do you plan long trips of multiple weeks or months?
Hey what's wrong in a vodka shot?😂
The thumbnail is great bdw😂😂
i loove your cap its so cute
Going to victoria bc still always feels strange. Because it is strange. Even though its just 60 kms. away . Anything more foreign than that, forget it .
Hello from Exploring With Josh
you are a brave woman
Someone like me who has not travelled other countries is a little bit frustrating because I am not used to travel alone and especially places I do not know so maybe in the future with my partner I will travel.
I am still waiting for your Pakistan Video. I saw some but those were on CPIC platform not on your channel.
