In this beginner drum lesson I break down what I consider to be one of the easiest songs on the drums. It's a fantastic first drum lesson to help you master your first song on the drums as a beginner drummer. Leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts!
I’m going on year 7 of drums and I’ve been playing instruments for 12 years. I find myself more often than not practicing the hardest stuff I can to challenge my brain and my ability, yet there’s still something so refreshing about learning a simple song and just having fun with it, thanks for bringing me back to basics 😌. Didn’t know the song but I’m happy to learn something from master Stephen Taylor
You know what, I spend a lot of my time playing simple songs for gigs and shows...and I love it. There is something about the simplicity of playing just what needs to be played and no more. As a bonus, on days I'm not "feeling it" I can learn a simple, fun song and still have a sense of accomplishment. I also love playing more complicated stuff. Had a session like that a couple weeks ago. It was challenging and I was super happy with the outcome. But good on you...dont ever forget the feeling of playing for the love of it.
I just started drumming this week and I’ve nailed most of the song with this tutorial thank you! Although I’ve watched step 4 about 10 times and still have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing 🤦♀️😂
Lol, so glad it helped! If that one drum fill is hanging you up, leave it out for now and add it in later. Get that win of being able to play the entire song. Also, a lot of other resources for you on my website at www.stephensdrumshed.com
I'm glad it hit you in a positive way! Don't quit! Just take a few weeks and learn songs you love. Get back to why you started playing in the first place. For the love of the music!
So, I can follow along and understand the instructions. But I'm having trouble with coordination. I'm 41 years old, never played an instrument and always wanted to learn the drums. For step 1, I can do the base and snare. But trying to throw in the high hat gives me trouble. Any suggestion to improve that coordination or is it a matter of practice or am I just hopeless?
My students are having the hardest time playing the kick drum period. Should they keep their foot pressure on the pedal at all times, should they anticipate the kick a bit early so they wont be behind?
Because it can be very easily played on an acoustic kit. And live, he has a real drummer. I learn songs ALL OF THE TIME for gigs with programmed drums. Just part of the landscape atm
I had to search that song to find out how horrible it was. Now I have to go delete it from my youtube watch history. THANKS! I did enjoy the hot chicken pancakes though.

Woow This is very beautiful my friend! 👏🏼You did an awesome job 😊 (I covered this too btw) 🙂
Yo😎
What drum is that.
What makes "hot chicken pancakes" different from "shave and a haircut"?
Great now I'm hungry... But I'll admit hot chicken pancakes sounds tastier than bucket of fish 😉
Easiest Song
Me thinking of AC/DC
Mr blue sky by ELO is the easiest song to play…cause I can play it
Haha! Was just listening to that tune the other day
@@StephenTaylorDrums i am horrible at the drums but its just too much fun to play along to.
Stephen, man I love your content, but why give a lesson on a song that uses programmed drums?
Because it can be very easily played on an acoustic kit. And live, he has a real drummer. I learn songs ALL OF THE TIME for gigs with programmed drums. Just part of the landscape atm
Where is al leurn to drum where people dont talk the whole time
I had to search that song to find out how horrible it was. Now I have to go delete it from my youtube watch history. THANKS! I did enjoy the hot chicken pancakes though.
