Also. When using jack hammers ir anything that vibrates, take pictures of home to confirm no cracking or damage. A customer can file a massive claim or law suit if any cracks in house foundation or house walls. Just fyi.

I love how you give a message for Christ at the end. It’s good to see a young entrepreneur that works hard, lives for Jesus, and proclaims. Keep going and growing!
I have had a skid steer business in Central Florida for about 10 years. I can tell you to be fair in your quotes and do a good job. Customers will call you back for more work and refer you to their friends. I do not advertise and stay busy. Just word of mouth. You need to work on your grading skills but that will come with time in the seat. Good luck with your business.
Be careful and realize that adding bigger bucket also adds weight to what you’re towing on an already struggling truck considering you stated it squats. When you load your equipment try to position where it is as level as possible and also verify all your gvw. If you are stopped and you’re over it potentially can lead to massive fines not to mention a huge safety concern. Also for the trailer try not to have to much weight on the tongue, this is better than to much on the rear of the trailer (this can lead to fishtailing). After fishtailing three swings it’s common for a vehicle to overturn. Keep up the drive!
I've done a lot of demo in my days, all I'd say (especially with the attachement hammer) is get some thin plywood in front of those windows. It could have been a pricey one 😉
You're on the right track with your business and thank-you so much for spreading the gospel message! One thing I will recommend, when calculating how your project performed you should calculate your equipment plus labor as an expense (example: Total hours 10 x $75/hr (Skid Steer @ $50/hr + Labor @ $25/hr) = $750). Then when you add to all other expenses and subtract from the total amount the project brings in, you have your Gross Profit. I think you will be very successful in your career, so a higher level of tracking project costs should start now. God Bless You!
Good idea. However, your suggestion does not include profit. I might use your equation as if I were paying an employee $25 hour. Then add your profit on top. Otherwise you might as well get a job making $25 hour without all the headaches of running a business.
Air bags 100% been running two Firestone units for years with no issues. Helper springs are cool until you’re driving unloaded and your truck is overly stiff. Airbags are adjustable on a per load basis so you’re always riding secured and level no matter your load.

You were asking about the truck squatting under load. I install airlift 5000 air bags in my trucks and they work great! Get the compressor too. Without it you wind up not using them when you need them because its a pain to get air.
I have a property maintenance company and I charge 250. per hr for skid work plus any materials I need for the job. I hope you busted up the bottum of the pool for drainage that pool could hold water, also the dirt you put in the pool will settle so the guy might call you down the road to add more dirt.. Airbags for sure on your truck..
Yeah I put holes in the bottom of the pool for drainage and the guy is having pavers put in on top of the pool area and his whole back yard and I will look into getting airbags

As for the truck when you asked for suggestions to what might help with the squatting of your truck, I had a Ford F-250 Turbo Diesel and i now have a Chevy Silverado 2500 Duramax diesel and on both of them i added a set of Firestone 5000 pound air bags which truly make a huge difference!!! I’m always hauling heavy trailers whether it be the fifth wheel travel trailers I’ve had with the biggest one being 14,400 pounds empty, so that’s with no tools or even water in the tanks for drinking or washing dishes and right now I’m usually hauling a work trailer that is a 47 foot gooseneck with a tri-axle and the neck itself is ten feet long so it leaves me 37 feet long of trailer space which I use to haul my Kubota tractor over the axles and I usually load the front with cedar logs to keep feeding my sawmill but it’s just an example of some of the big and heavy trailers I’m hauling and the airbags make all the difference in the world! I have a compressor tucked in behind the back seat and a compressor gauge on board underneath my dash that allows me to add air or deflate the bags on the fly and no matter what I’m towing, that extra lift it gives me has people no longer flicking their headlights off and on at me because I’m not blinding them anymore because without the air bags; they always thought i had my high beams on after dark….; anyways, for both trucks it really helped level out my truck and i am able to adjust them to whatever amount i need depending on what I’m hauling at the time and everything including installing by the dealership was less than $2000 Canadian dollars but it would definitely solve your issues with squatting…. My gooseneck alone weighs 6000+ pounds empty and the fifth wheel travel trailer was a 44 foot long trailer and was 14,400 empty but the gooseneck allows me to haul my subcompact Kubota L3240 with the 72” bucket and loader and whatever implements I happen to have on the back at the time, during the spring/summer and fall seasons it’s usually a log skidding winch and during the winter it’s a 72” snowblower on the back but the tractor with loader and whatever rear attachment is approximately 5500 pounds plus the cedar logs that are usually 16-17 foot long logs in front has me well around the 15,000 pound range or over no matter which trailer and the airbag system has my truck sitting straight and riding comfortably and nobody thinks I’m driving around with my high beams on at night blinding everyone…., just a suggestion and hope it helps! Keep doing what you’re doing! Nice to see the work ethic and the hustle you have…; congrats on being your best self!

I'm just now starting my excavation business but have previous experience in my business from before in lawncare and small demolition company i had before moving out the US some years ago, now im back and looking into getting into excavation because i would love to own a skid steer and excavator but anyway i have experience in pricing out services so for this jon you did should of been atleast $5,000 because you had to do alot of driving and alot of obtaining things just for this one job, you could of charged $5k and had all your gas and eveeything taken care of by the customer, you should never do things out your own pocket when doing these jobs becauae then youd put yourself in a position to get the ugly stick at the end of the day so becareful and make sure you charge the customer and make your purchases from that for that particular job, unless you have the equipment if not then thats a tax to the bill
I've never done skid steer work or excavation but if you only worked like 10 total hours that's like 200 an hour so after expenses I think you made out pretty good you made great profit and the customer liked the price
You need to include fixed expenses, ie insurance, liability etc. Dont forget about truck and trailer operating costs as well as replacement . Forcast what it will cost to repair your stuff per year as well as replacement when they wear out. Along with you household,( taxes gas and electric water etc.) the one you have now versus a home where you can have the room for your inventory of equipment and supplies.ie leftover materals like dirt. to a secure building where on your property where you store and work on your own stuff. Long term...
Get yourself a set of super springs. We use them on tow truck from all that weight hanging off the back. More reliable than airbags. Look them up I’m sure you’ll like how they perform.
Add some airbags, bro it’ll give you the opportunity to change psi and there’s an app that you can use on your phone as well. There’s like a remote control that comes with the whole set up.
You are not accounting for daily equipment costs, rental, travel to the dump, and depreciation. For using rough numbers like you do, target $1500 after direct job costs to cover you wages and these other costs. Average out wage per hour to be sure your time is well covered. Remember tire shops charge $125/hr to change tires. You are doing more skilled labor and should average at least this. Keep hustling. You are off to a great start.
airbags or replace your factory bump stops, they’re about the same in the price but bump stops are less maintenance. look up Timbren and you’ll see them
God bless you for the word I don’t know you personally but me and you believe the Sam way your channel is a great inspiration keep up great work god bless you
Those numbers are doable-Take away the $500 for jack hammer rental-the $130 home depot hammer rental and all the time wasted running them down and the time picking up dirt when u had to have 18ton delivered anyway -then had to take time to get rid of the extra dirt-- 1 day job easily if all these are eliminated plus alot more profit.. To me its all about your time and managing it - There are enough things that can go left without us creating time sucking issues- im the worlds worse at that! You do like i do - Prepare by dropping equipment off day before and putting alot of thought onto it - I overthink alot of jobs and it usually works out in my favor as far as time management and if it dont then i LEARN from it.. Great video young man🤑

I would try and compact the soil in lifts.. I mean I guess it’s not a huge deal on something like this but it’s likely that a few months down the road and the customer will have some significant settling..around the hole you filled in. Which you could just come back and fill it in again if he wanted or at least to let the customer know ahead of time to expect some settlement.
You might want to consider air shocks in the rear of your truck. They will lift up the rear end to where you want it. Keep up the good work Man of God.
@EntreprenuerDavis I had airbags for moving a 38' camper a few years back with a 2500 ram. It had the engine for it, but suspension needed help. It was a night and day difference. So happy with the upgrade
Just want to share. Need to destroy the base otherwise that hole section will hold water. Burying the material is fine but you need to destroy the pools completely otherwise it will still hold the water. Additionally compact. The compaction of your skid is next to nothing. About 4 psi. You can do about 1 inch rises for every 1000psi. For a 4k plate compactor can compact about 4in of material! Keep husling and provide great work! You'll make it.
Just try to leave your customers yard looking better than what you did. Make look good as possible. Did you offer to seed and straw? Could have been a few extra $. Word of mouth is a lot when a job is completed. Hope your business really takes off. Good luck young man.
I left it like that because he is having pavers installed at his home so he’s having another contract coming into install them and they have to put more material down
Definitely get an auto air lift system. Thats what I run on my truck. And get some rear drop leg jacks for that ironbull so you don’t keep destroying the back of the trailer when loading heavy equipment. The trailer should already have the pockets for it.
Yeah I’ve been looking into the air lift system and also I definitely need those jacks for my trailer because you are right in the back of my trailer it’s getting damaged.
Consider adding an expense factor for operating costs of the excavator, vehicle mileage, and I’d also consider looking at this from an hourly return perspective rather than the margin of the job. If what could have been done in one day took two days your hourly is cut in half. I don’t work in contracting but I am an executive and I can tell you that poorly thought our planning makes it much more difficult to be efficient and every minute spent being inefficient is same as lighting your time (money) on fire. Aside from the value of the learning experience which, counts for a lot. Was this your first time doing a job that required jack hammering? If so did you research best practices for demolitions equivalent to this job? Good call recognizing you underestimated the work, and taking action but could it have been avoided from the jump? This part is a follow up but I don’t think you factored in the jack hammer cost or the gas/time associated with going to pick it up. These small little things compound quickly.
Exactly that’s is true but you can only know the commandments if you read the Bible and if you read the Bible you would read this as well it’s the key to life 🔑
Great Video. Thank you for putting it together. God Bless you and your viewers! Don't forget to add in monthly and annual expenses to make sure you are actually earning a profit. Things like Insurance and maintenance for your truck and machine. Payments on the machine and truck? You do have commercial liability insurance, right? What about health benefits and retirement planning? There are many expenses involved in running a business, and none of them are for you to bear, they are all part of the job cost that gets rolled into your quotes. Figure out exactly what all of your expenses are, and include every one of them, otherwise you may actually be paying to work for people. I love that you're on this adventure! Consider the local chamber of commerce, or even some of your church members to connect with some business-oriented mentors to help guide you in keeping profitable for the long-term. Will this level of profit keep you and your family eating, sheltered, and cared for for the foreseeable future? I suspect you could have charged more for this job and still gotten it. I've learned to walk away from the cheapskates and the folks that think my rates are too high. It's not worth the hassle. Definitely buy the attachments you need, and use the ones you have well. Keep up the awesome work and stay Blessed!
Yeah I add all of that in off camera in the back end of my business I just don’t show it because insurance and taxes and everything is all subjective to the business and the state you are in so it hard to put that in because it doesn’t help anyone so I only put into things that universal across the board that isn’t specific to my state and my company and or my personal finances

@@EntreprenuerDavis not throwing shade, just trying to help educate and prevent callbacks or litigations and protect your reputation. As far as squat on your truck, airbags are nice but make sure you include an onboard air system because they 100% will leak and constantly filling them up with a tire gauge is annoying. With an onboard air you can add and lower air pressure on the fly as your load changes. The other option is to add helper springs to your leaf spring pack.

Look up RAS suspension springs for squat.
Also get some airtags on your equipment for piece of mind. Just some tips
You did a good job
I love the main message at the end. Amen
Thank you
I've never done skid steer work or excavation but if you only worked like 10 total hours that's like 200 an hour so after expenses I think you made out pretty good you made great profit and the customer liked the price
Thank you 🙏🏾
Great video! Nice job at the end sharing Christ!
you did great!
I will definitely be looking into them 🙏🏾
Add some airbags, bro it’ll give you the opportunity to change psi and there’s an app that you can use on your phone as well.
Thank you for your advice I will definitely do this for now on.
Look at Sumo Springs or Timbren for load support. They replace the factory bump stops and work great.
I will look into them because I definitely need something
Throw some air shocks on the n back of your truck. You can add air when it squats...you can raise it up.
Looking into it now
Her yourself a helper leaf for the leaf springs on the truck. Doesn't affect the ride but helps the sag. Airbags next but a lot more expensive
I need this honestly
airbags or replace your factory bump stops, they’re about the same in the price but bump stops are less maintenance. look up Timbren and you’ll see them
I’ll look into the bump stops
Just subbed for the support. Love the hustle brother. God bless
roadmaster active suspension is great for a no maintence and cheap squat assist
I will look into this thanks
SD truck spring upgrade springs to 350hd or 450 springs for a stronger more reliable ride. Or do air bags if you don't haul with it that serious.
I haul my skid and excavator so I think I’ll get the springs
when jackhammering near windows use plywood to cover the windows so if anything flys. it won’t break the windows
Noted I will keep this in mind for my next job thanks for the advice
Good stuff bro, truly inspiring 👏
Put some air bags under the rear. I retired from hauling RV’s across the country. Air ride suspension is the way to go!
I’ll take a look at air ride for sure
Amen 🙏.
God bless you for the word I don’t know you personally but me and you believe the Sam way your channel is a great inspiration keep up great work god bless you
Thank you God Bless you as well🙏🏾
Those numbers are doable-Take away the $500 for jack hammer rental-the $130 home depot hammer rental and all the time wasted running them down and the time picking up dirt when u had to have 18ton delivered anyway -then had to take time to get rid of the extra dirt-- 1 day job easily if all these are eliminated plus alot more profit.. Great video young man🤑
Thank you for your comment and advice would you suggest I buy the jack hammer attachment?
@@EntreprenuerDavis Well u would have to weigh how much you need one vs what one cost. When i buy attachments I always buy HD Always buy attachment designed for my machine and bigger - where my machine will run it on the low side but a bigger machine will run it better- With that being said it puts me in a spot that WHEN i upgrade my skid steer then all my attachments are good to go - So i only have to buy each attachment 1 time for life
@@rayrayslawnlandscape2008 makes sense and I’ve had my run around with the Chinese attachments I will never again get cheap attachments I will get used but never cheap again and I will weigh the pros and cons
@@EntreprenuerDavis right the last bucket i bought in November was $2200 for just a tooth bucket - Man My Svl75-3 can not bend it- warp it - its a beast.
I Bought a used power rake from Quick attach $8k.
A Hd Brush cutter/mulcher from MTL for $10k - A grapple bucket from MTL $3500-and i use it more than anything! had it for 5 years no issues!
@@rayrayslawnlandscape2008 yeah I’ve seen how good of a brand MTL is I’ve been thinking about buying there brush cutter things a beast
You can put in air bags on your truck and a compressor, fill them when you are loaded and it won't squat and will ride smoother
I am looking into getting them now
@EntreprenuerDavis that's good man, hope it helps. Love the videos, will be getting my own skid steer soon, i will keep watching your videos.
you going to have to change your suspension to the heavy haul bag suspension
I would try and compact the soil in lifts.. I mean I guess it’s not a huge deal on something like this but it’s likely that a few months down the road and the customer will have some significant settling..around the hole you filled in. Which you could just come back and fill it in again if he wanted or at least to let the customer know ahead of time to expect some settlement.
He was getting pavers in his entire backyard
@@EntreprenuerDavis well there you go. You got it!
You might want to consider air shocks in the rear of your truck. They will lift up the rear end to where you want it. Keep up the good work Man of God.
I definitely will consider some airbags
@EntreprenuerDavis I had airbags for moving a 38' camper a few years back with a 2500 ram. It had the engine for it, but suspension needed help. It was a night and day difference. So happy with the upgrade
@@nickc7320 I am going to be getting some shortly
Appreciate the knowledge you shared.
No problem thank you for your comment.
That bird @8:22. 🤣 - Great job man!
Great job.. well done! God bless you!
Thank you
Just want to share.
I put holes in the bottom of the pool because The customer could not afford to get the entire pool removed thank you for your advice
Amen!
🙏🏾🙏🏾
I used to install air bag kits all the time on trucks like that . Would help with squatting
I definitely need one of those systems
Good job young man keep up the good work and you’ll go far .
Big fan I'm in NC love that kind of work. Keep up the good work keep the videos coming brother videos coming brother
rear timbers for your truck help alot
I’ll look into them because I need something
I’m really impressed I wish I could do it I’m in Columbus Ohio I need help train on those equipments. 🙏
There's air bags and there's air shocks. I use the latter. They're much less expensive and easy to put on.
Interesting I might look into that I didn’t know about it
I put airbags on my dually to mitigate squat on the rear end
I definitely will invest in them soon
The airbags are good with the squat issue
Already looking into getting them
stronger leaf springs for the rear of your truck or get air bags installed!
I will look into getting that done
Great video! Love seeing a young entrepreneur. Would you have some time to hop on a phone call to speak some about the dirt work industry?
Yeah I would email me at Global.LandscapersLLC@gmail.com
Love your videos, and love you preaching about Jesus Christ 💪🏼 for that…I smashed the like and subscribe button!
Welcome to the family!
Nice job. What matters is keeping the commandments as He told us. 1 John 3:4-10
Sumo springs can help with the swatting.
I’ll look into them I haven’t heard of them before though
Ride rite airbags. No questions asked they are worth every penny.
I need them badly
Looks great and pretty good profit
Thank you!
Awesome, : )
Thank you man!
Amen
🙏🏾🙏🏾
You could try installing towing bags? Or convert the back to a dually probably not cheap but just an idea
I’m looking into getting airbags now
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it
@@EntreprenuerDavis doing my first job next weekend hope you get to watch and give me some input as well!
You can get airbags to put on the back wheels to prevent the squatting. My dad uses them with his truck and 10,000 pound boat and they work great.
I’m definitely going to get some airbags
AMEN
🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@EntreprenuerDavisit’s nice to see someone open about their faith. I greatly appreciate the message at the end. What you say does not go unnoticed.
Love the ending message is solid..god bless you brother
God bless you as well man🙏🏾
Air bags on the rear would reduce squatting
Great stuff 👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you!
Never leave a rake on the ground,;those things can do some damage if you step on them. Over here in PA a full triaxle of topsoil cost about $500 which they bring you like 23 tons. Other than that amazing video brother keep it up 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Yeah I know about PA that’s where I’m from everything is super expensive compared to Florida but I’ll keep an eye out for the rake for now on.
@@EntreprenuerDavis oh that’s crazy! I had no idea, im located in bucks county so everything is super expensive. Yeah, man i saw this guy get a huge bruce on his forearm because when he stepped on it, it came back with so much force. Im also trying to reach your level 👌🏼. Hopefully this year im able to get an mt 100
My man. Good work. I think you could have charged $3k plus materials but all in all, you’re winning bro 🙏
Yeah I will keep this in mind for a future job but this customer in particular didn’t have a huge budget so I had to work with him a little bit
@@EntreprenuerDavis I get that a lot also. I find myself in a position where you don’t want to lose the job because it’s not too hard and you’re going to make good money still. Keep it up bud, at your age and level of hustle, when you get to my age you’ll be a beast. Congrats on your success.
For squat get airbags or get a F350 or 450 dually or srw
I would love to get me an F-350 or even better and F-450 but there price tag is crazy so I’m going to have to settle for the airbags
Get some air bags for your truck. They'll help while towing
I definitely will be looking into them
You might add some leaf spring /air bags
That what I’ve been looking into
Airbags will get rid of the squat … I love mine
I investing in them currently
Im not sure bro but you could of demoed the whole pool with the machine and im pretty sure 100% that you have to compact an old pool when your filling it up from layers and the grading it needs some more work you could of took out the patches of grass and made it look nice..
He putting pavers back there…
If they are installing pavers it's even more critical you achieve proper compaction. Standard code is 95%. Did you pull out and remove the rubble or bury it and all that rebar?
@@5TheFlyingFarmer5 listen man I gave him a deal that’s not my job I’ll leave that to the paver guys they’ll just charge more to do the correct job he told me to do it that way to save money if you were doing the job then you can do extra work for no extra money
Jackhammer are expensive, for your area not bad.
Okay I didn’t even know I’ve never looked into it I guess but that’s good to know
Probably should allocate some of the profit for the equipment like truck and skid steer.
What you mean?
Airlift bags 💯
I am looking to getting them
@EntreprenuerDavis air lift 7500 XL 100 % worth it !!easy to install to!!
@@mikediaz6588 thank you man I will look at them are they most powerful ones you can get?
@EntreprenuerDavis ya I believe so ! Those will go on the F250 or F350you can get the on board air you and fill up your tires with it I haul a dump trailer with the machine in it probably around 12k lbs and it sits level and if u need to u just add more air ! Or take some out for a smoother ride
Leaf spring helpers, they will help with squat
WHAT A GREAT VIDEO KEEP IT UP❤
Thanks man I appreciate your comment
Airbags in the back baby
I’m looking into get them now
Load the skid steer further back on the trailer to have less of a squat
It’s the farthest back it can be I put the engine between the axles
