Darren Millane was an intense competitor who hated losing. He was always where the action was fiercest and expected the same commitment from his teammates. But sadly, he lost in the game of life when a tragic accident took him away from his adoring fans much too soon.
I remember the night well. I was the officer in charge of removing Darren's body from the car and filling the report. Details are still so vivid after all these years.
That would have been traumatic for you.
Especially if the word is true that he was basically decapitated also😭😭😭
Darren was a gun cricketer and a top footballer. I went to school with him and he dominated those sports. RIP champ…
Both mark bayes and Darren milane were the two players that were top of the tree in my school / junior footy. I played Dandy tech and Noble Park.
I watched him dominate a game against Geelong in 1990 out at VFL Park when he played with a broken thumb. He was a monster, and would have been one of the all time greats had he not been tragically killed. RIP Darren Millane.
he played the whole final series with a broken thumb and had to get injections at halftime
Pants was a beast great skills for a big bloke ,still wear 42 on my jumpers ,and that beautifully signed Millane portrait ,RIP pants ,legend
Tunnel was a shithole, and yet we used to go a lot of saturday nights after playing local footy. I was there the night it happened but my mates and myself had moved on after one of them was kicked out by the bouncers. We kicked on at Simons in Northcote, I remember hearing it on the radio next day and was a bit shocked as we were all there that night. You didn't go near the Collingwood boys at the Tunnel as if they didn't like you took you out to the laneway for a touch up. Tragic loss, was a gun player and I am a Carlton supporter.
What a great man 😢
It wasn’t a tragic accident he was drunk at the wheel still sad BUT
Of course, it was an accident, unless you think he intended on dying?
Tragic, sad but thank God others werent also hurt.
At 5.03 when Talking about Darren Throwing the Ball up at the 1990 Grand Final you put up 1999.👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Pants would have been captain of the club had he lived
What a player
My husband went to the same secondary school that Darren attended.
Sadly I saw the car that he was driving at the time.
My dad was first on scene and saw his head in the back seat
He was a gun
He was also facing a possible jail term in 1991. The man was out of control in the end!
GO BLUES
Wasn’t he drink driving? So sad
Boo hoo.
It wasn't a tragic accident, if he wasn't so intoxicated, he had a blood reading more than 0.5
Wrong? Get your facts right, he started at Hawthorn
