Polly is a dark song. It's about a real-life kidnapping of a girl in Tacoma, Washington. She was leaving a concert and this guy named Gerald Friend kidnapped, raped and tortured her. Kurt wrote it from the perspective of the kidnapper so it would be so uncomfortable for the listener and you'd never forget the story. It's an anti-rape song. Butch Vig, who produced the album, called it a haunting track. I'd agree with that. Keep rocking on your reactions. So genuine and fun seeing you discover new music. Also, Lounge Act is my favorite. Glad you loved it, too!
Yikes. Looked a bit more into the song after all those years. And now it makes more sense why he mentions a blow torch in the song. What an absolute shit, this Gerald Friend. Should never have been let out from prison in the first place.
"Endless nameless" is song that was made when band tried to play lithium but couldnt figure it out so kurt got frustrated and they just broke into this song, they used this song at the end of concerts to break instruments, and on the cd of nevermind after something in the way ends theres silence for about 10 minutes and then endless nameless starts playing as a hidden track The song "Polly" was written by Kurt after reading a newspaper article about a crime that occurred in 1987 about a 14 year old girl who was kidnapped as she was leaving a concert. Her kidnapper took Polly and brought her back to his place where he s**ually assaulted and tortured her. The story actually starts back in July of 1960 when a man named Gerald Friend (who is the kidnapper of polly) abducted a girl and her brother who were hitchhiking in Sumner, Washington. I loved your reaction and id like to recomend albums "ten" by pearl jam, "dirt" by alice in chains and "doolittle" by pixies, but also more of nirvana
yeah he should read this. endless nameless - the one he didn't like/get yeah it's not really a song to "like" or "get" it's an end of the night fuck everything destroy everything we're done song. Polly - the most controversial song by them (at least until rape me came out) both of which was very miss understood and caused a lot of hate from people that just didn't get it.. and lastly this is my first vid from his i've seen, random youtube recommend, but i really like that it's a full album react but curious if it was a full album react or if this is just a compilation of individual vids of each songs?
Yeah, it's like an anger jam - not really a "song" - a hidden track put on the end of the CD 10 mins after Something In The Way to scare the crap out of you when you thought the CD was done. Doesn't really work as effectively on a track list when people think it's a genuine "song". Loved your review :)

'Breed' will never fail to inject adrenaline directly into my veins. Nirvana was my adolescence. The voice of Gen X without question. Spitting in the face of the world, the unreasonable ones that insist on changing the world rather than changing to fit it. The music works especially well in a mosh pit. Except for Something In The Way... that song is only for listening to under a bridge, nodding out from heroin. Endless, Nameless was a hidden track... which worked way better when the music was on cassette and you had to just let it keep playing long past the last song to discover it. Unlabelled, unlisted madness trailing on the end of the tape.
You can tell how influential Nirvana has been for rappers through the years. They were the kings of catchiness. A beautiful blend of pop melodies with raw punk energy. The lyrics means nothing but at the same time it can mean whatever you want based on your experience. Cobain was a genius and it’s really cool to see people discover it and feel it to this day. I think the moment an artist makes you want or at least think of trying to do it yourself is an absolute win, and a Nirvana song is one of the almost everyone’s first song to learn on guitar. Legendary band
“Something in the way” was featured in the soundtrack of the last Batman that came out with Robert Pattinson maybe that’s why it sounds familiar (if you watched it)
please react to some other nirvana stuff. if you can, and react to the full mtv unplugged set they did. it was performed a few months before kurt’s death and it’s gorgeous, spine chilling and so beautiful. loved the reaction!!

Fun facts about Kurt: 1: His sister came out as a lesbian and he was totally fine with it, but he was afraid people would bully her. 2: Kurt said he wished he was gay because he wanted to annoy homophones. (Idk if it's true, but some people say he thought he was bisexual) 3: he was a feminist and didn't like men "touching" women during nirvana concerts and once a woman got r@p3d during his performance and it made kurt stop singing, Krist and Dave stopped playing and pointed at the guy while laughing to him meanwhile kurt said "look at him!" While laughing at the guy. 4: Kurt didn't like "smells like teen spirit" and didn't understand why it was so popular. He's favorite song of his own was "Drain you" (IM SORRY MY ENGLISH AIN'T THE BEST🙏🏻😭)
i just KNEW lounge act was gonna be his favorite. Such a beautiful writing stance with a little funk influence. Seems right up his alley for a new hard rock listener

to explain a lil about the last song endless, nameless it was the secret track on the record (it would play after a while after something in the way) and it was them raging when they were trying to play Lithium
Nirvana might be the most influential band to new age rappers. A lot of atmosphere, mysteriousness, griminess, and punk attitude. Kurt truly changed music in general upside down when this came out
I don't think he would like In utero, he seems to enjoy the songs with groove, so maybe bleech or incesticide. Dive, Blew, Love buzz etc have a good groove.

In Bloom plays with a lot of Jazz fundamentals, including syncopation and play with Bass and Drums. Kurt adds that "Dark Pop" feel with the vocal and guitar, and broken solo (gotta love that hang time in the middle of the guitar solo with the brief pause). Dave Grohl actually took his drumming inspiration from some 60s and 70s African American inspired funk style drumming with a lot of big hits, and big spacing between hits, giving life to his drum kit. For Kurt, the happy pop sound becomes a dark pop sound. Krist on Bass keeps a Jazz-like vibe keeping it clean and keeping steady rhythm but always echoing the guitar riffs in parallel. Dave's LESS IS MORE style allows for hang time, like the in the air of a buzzer beater 3 point shot, before the symbol crash.

Random find! Glad you enjoyed the album, as an 11/12 year old when Nirvana hit this was EVERYTHING. No playlists/skipping songs then, the album was an experience. No RUclips lyric vids either 😂 I GUARANTEE you’ll love the Black Album by Metallica. 💯
Great reaction to an all time great album by an immortal artist. The only advice I'll give you is the same I give to all hip hop fans exploring rock for the first time: Lyrics are secondary. The backing instrumentals are the objective in rock n roll. Where rap outright tells the listener explicitly what to think/feel with a song, rock pushes listeners in certain directions using musical soundscapes. Don't grade rock songs on their lyrics. Evaluate them on their arrangements
You gotta do In Utero, their last album. Its sound style is a lot more grungy and raw. I know what you said about the e screaming.. but in utero is amazing, trust me you’ll love it 😭
Hiii, as someone that really likes Nirvana, I suggest that you react to their album “Bleach” (my second favorite album by them) and you should totally react to their interviews. I think it would be fun to watch someone like you react to other bands aswell, such as Guns N Roses, Ac/Dc, Led Zeppelin, and many others. You should also listen to “Hole” Hole is the band that his Wife is in, she’s the main singer and she has a couple good songs (my opinion)!
You should listen to Dirt by Alice In Chains! They're another band from the grunge scene in Seattle in the 90s and my personal favorite out of the big 4 (Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam) I loved your reaction to this and would love to see more, w vid man
Your reaction to drain you made my day seriously. How you got so into it after the breakdown made me happy man, truly one of their best songs. Keep on exploring music!
A good guide for Kurt’s lyrics would be that some songs are just random stuff that he got from books, etc etc etc and other songs do have some deeper meaning and are almost poetic and some are a mix of both, either way enjoyed your reaction and look forward to watching you react to the next album and the unplugged album
2 things Kurt Cobain was famous for was his crazy screaming and his crazy guitar solos, that last song is classified as noise rock and his guitar at the end he was pointing his guitar at the speakers and playing around with the feedback, those are the squeaking noises, some people think its interesting. The last song was kind of a secret bonus track.
Dude, I love checking out these reaction videos like this, to music that I grew up with and love to this day. Mad respect, and I was listening to Public Enemy back then too. (And I just listened to them the other day, too. :) I was 14 when this came out and I didn't have high expectations when I first checked out the album--I'd already liked Smells Like Teen Spirit well enough but figured that the rest would be "meh," but then I listened and was like HOLY SHIT!!! Totally fuckin' blew me away. I'm sure that this has come up many times below in the comments, but, re: the last track-- It actually was a "secret" track that came on 12 whole minutes after the end of the slow and quiet "Something in the Way," it was said that "Endless, Nameless" developed as a crazy jam when something went wrong while they were playing another song, I think Lithium So, there's the context. The album "ends" with the quiet Something in the Way, then 10 minutes of silence, and then that craziness comes on unless the CD was stopped. :)
I don't watch your videos often but when I do I enjoy them! I also find new music to add to my playlist which I definitely need cause I've been listening to the same few songs for the past week 2 😭 As for suggestions, you should totally listen to Type O Negative! I suggest October Rust or Bloody Kisses, like Christian Woman, Black No.1, and Wolf Moon from Bloody Kisses and Love You to Death, Be My Druidess, My Girlfriend's Girlfriend, In Praise of Bachaus, and Wolf Moon from October Rust goes soo hard to me. Life Is Killing Me is also a pretty good album too and so is Dead Again, but whatever works honestly if you do decide to react to them. :)
they lean into their punk influences heavily sometimes, where the arrangement is intentionally aggressive, grating and "i just don't give a fuck" kinda vibes like a "fuck u" to the listener lol
Hey, man. I love the video, I love how you put the effort to actually vibe to it, when it wasn't even your taste at time like in endless Nameless. I also review albums and I don't have patience like you to vibe during the entire album Also I want to give some information. About the lyrics, They don't have meaning, they don't, instead of Drain who actually has meaning about Kurt's ex girlfriend, the rest don't have any meaning, since Kurt would usually write his lyrics before recording vocals, and that's why they don't have meaning. KEEP IT UP, KING ❤
I loved your reactions haha! I had the same reaction when I first listened to Endless, Nameless as well. They really just played it at the end of most of their shows as they destructed the stage
SO the lead singer of nirvana died and the drummer (who is actually crazy) formed his own band (foofighters) if you like the Nirvana vibe, listen to foofighters
Awww, I loved this! By the way, Kurt really liked rap. Public Enemy's "Takes a Nation of Millions" was one of Nirvana's top 50 favorite albums of all time. He once said in an interview that rap was the the only vital musical genre left, and he said that as a huge punk fan. So, I think it makes a lot of sense that you would connect with the way he writes with the way rap lyrics are constructed. More and more, I think punk and rap have a lot in common.

Random find! Glad you enjoyed the album, as an 11/12 year old when Nirvana hit this was EVERYTHING. No playlists/skipping songs then, the album was an experience. No RUclips lyric vids either 😂
I GUARANTEE you’ll love the Black Album by Metallica. 💯
reaction to lounge act was so valid 🙏🙏
YOU ARE MY NEW FAVORITE CHANNEL ON RUclips. BIIISH. I DIDN'T EVEN WATCH THE VIDEO YET BUT THANK YOU FOR NIRVANA.
This my favorite Nirvana reaction so lets do in Utero next lets get it!!!
yo i actually love this so much because it reminds me of when i first listened to nirvana, i believe in you bro your gonna make it far with youtube
funfact! Drain you was Kurt Cobian's (lead singer) favourite song!
The last song is like a statement on the ethos of Punk rock. It's a fitting ending for Nevermind in my view
Great reaction to an all time great album by an immortal artist. The only advice I'll give you is the same I give to all hip hop fans exploring rock for the first time:
Lyrics are secondary. The backing instrumentals are the objective in rock n roll. Where rap outright tells the listener explicitly what to think/feel with a song, rock pushes listeners in certain directions using musical soundscapes.
Don't grade rock songs on their lyrics. Evaluate them on their arrangements
this was deadass me discovering grunge in grade 8
Who else wishes the music streaming services would just drop "Endless, Nameless" from the Nevermind track listing altogether?
This album changed the world
You gotta do In Utero, their last album.
You should also listen to “Hole” Hole is the band that his Wife is in, she’s the main singer and she has a couple good songs (my opinion)!
you should watch lana’s live cover of heart shaped box by nirvana!!
omg yes when she hits that note in that cover it’s crazy
YES‼️‼️‼️
PLSS
Well let him listen to in utero before💀
No
Please react to In Utero by Nirvana as well, I'd love to see your reaction. Completely different vibe to nevermind but just as good.
“Why does this sound good”
“I don’t know why” 😂 it was so perfect
more nirvana content! also in the album insecticide new wave polly does it justice🤘💯🔥
SCREAMEDDD THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ALBUM EVAHHHHHH
43:22 honestly just the energy itself is very enjoyable and the drums are keeping a somewhat steady beat so head bopping is there
Really like the reaction, continue doing you
Man, i fucking love people listening to music for the first time, with an open mind. Keep up the good work sir. x
you should definitely react to pierce the veil soon !!!
Seeing people react too Nirvana gives me joy
brother if you want more bwnds in the channel try my chemical romance (the black parade album)
as for rhe ladies, I'll suggest kali uchis again❤
i’d love to see him react to mcr too! especially since it’s such a different sound than what he’s been listening to
Dude, I love checking out these reaction videos like this, to music that I grew up with and love to this day. Mad respect, and I was listening to Public Enemy back then too. (And I just listened to them the other day, too. :)
I was 14 when this came out and I didn't have high expectations when I first checked out the album--I'd already liked Smells Like Teen Spirit well enough but figured that the rest would be "meh," but then I listened and was like HOLY SHIT!!! Totally fuckin' blew me away.
I'm sure that this has come up many times below in the comments, but, re: the last track-- It actually was a "secret" track that came on 12 whole minutes after the end of the slow and quiet "Something in the Way," it was said that "Endless, Nameless" developed as a crazy jam when something went wrong while they were playing another song, I think Lithium
So, there's the context. The album "ends" with the quiet Something in the Way, then 10 minutes of silence, and then that craziness comes on unless the CD was stopped. :)
You should listen to the in Utero album next :)
bro im happy you discovered great music! lounge act was forsure my fav off this album
bro said he doesnt like metal while wearing a metallica shirt
Something in the way was on the Batman soundtrack and it was perfect
You should watch Melanie's movie k-12
Hey, man. I love the video, I love how you put the effort to actually vibe to it, when it wasn't even your taste at time like in endless Nameless. I also review albums and I don't have patience like you to vibe during the entire album
Also I want to give some information.
I meant Drain You
Try to listen to metal
I’m so excited cause eventually you’ll react to their live performances and I promise you that the lives surpass the official recorded versions
you should react to nirvana's mtv unplugged album!! literally one of my favorite albums of all time
You should react to some of their songs they performed on their MTV unplugged set, it’s iconic af
I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I've listened to this album a million times; I've never done so with this guys energy.
My son's older brother just plays Nirvana on his guitar and has the albums on repeat, driving their older brother insane... and I love it.
☕🐝🇺🇸
I loved your reactions haha! I had the same reaction when I first listened to Endless, Nameless as well. They really just played it at the end of most of their shows as they destructed the stage
Loved your energy in the react! Keep up with the good content.
Greetings from Brazil! =D
SO the lead singer of nirvana died and the drummer (who is actually crazy) formed his own band (foofighters) if you like the Nirvana vibe, listen to foofighters
So awesome seeing you enjoy this amazing album! Thank you so much for sharing this with us all! Keep it up & Crank it up!
Maybe try MTV Unplugged, Nirvana! THAT was e p i c!!!
You seem like such a fun dude to listen to music with lmaoo . You would probably like the offsprings if you like nervana .
Wait till you see In Utero! Also I would love to see you watch Nirvana interviews they are my favorite band of all time!
