This week’s guest is Eliud Kipchoge - a Kenyan athlete who is widely regarded as the greatest marathon runner of all time - he’s the only athlete to have ever run a marathon in under two-hours, which he did back in 2019 in Vienna as part of the 1:59 challenge. But the conversation we had for this podcast is about so much more than running. Whether you are a runner or not, I think you are going to find Eliud’s insights highly relevant and applicable in your own life.

Today I decided to run the Zurich Barcelona Marathon as my first one. That decision led me to this video. In December 2018 I decided to stop drinking alcohol after 20 years of a self destructive downward spiral. In September 2019 I've became & was homeless for 4 months. During the lockdown I started run for the first time ever. It gave me the change to be outside while the whole city of Barcelona was empty except from a few other runners and the police driving around searching for people breaking the lockdown. Running really improved my mental health just 2 year after stop drinking. Now I enjoy taking control over the pain, overcome it & use it to improve both mentally & physically. I run by my self & don't really struggle finding the motivation to run. I enjoy the challenge to do it every day & I enjoy the feeling of finishing a run even more. My life have always been a race in a way, but for the first time ever I'm really taking control over it. But I've have been struggling with my discipline, like getting up early in the morning & run before I start my day. That have changed watching this video. There are several things that needs to change with such decision. Anyhow, I knew all this already because much of it have been said before by other amazing people. But this time it was different, Eliud's insight and approach to life, running & many other things have a very honest & down to earth feeling that I appreciate. I feel very inspired to achieve this goal now in 2023. Thank you both for this amazing video. Please receive all my best wishes. Take care & be safe everybody.

His internal calmness is the key for him to break the record.. not his desire.. well.. he said he doesn’t believe in success- interpret: he doesn’t heed his desire.

There are very few people I admire apart from my parents, and they are Warren Buffet, Charlie Munger, Monish Pabrai, Eliud Kipchoge and Naval Ravikant. In my opinion these are phenomenal people by just being straightforward, honest and highly accomplished people in their fields. They all talk about the same things solid process, being honest and becoming excellent.
Really appreciate you putting this out !! Thank you.
