    I think babies need to be feed with spoon. Its so confusing. You moms do whatever works. They will eventually learn to eat on their own. NO RUSH

      I followed this advice and my two year old son still won't eat by himself. I am watching this video because my second is on his way and I am NOT following this crappy advice again.

      I think you’re mistaken (assuming you’re suggesting that the child should not fed not self feed), aside from the fact that the child actually won’t learn quick enough unless taught, I know the 3 year old who still has to be fed otherwise he will not eat. The other main benefit of trying to fast forward the progress is that it makes the child become more independent, easier to handle and less of a workload. This is especially beneficial when one has multiple children.

    what if the baby refuses food due to teething. My 11 month old stopped eating anything due to teething

    • @babyledweaning
      @babyledweaning  2 года назад +4

      Teething usually lasts until your baby is in toddlerhood, so you can keep introducing new foods even when your baby is teething. There may be some days where your baby has less of an appetite than others (just like with us adults 😊) and that's perfectly okay. You can trial out some cooler foods that some babies prefer when they're cutting new teeth, but I also have more teething recommendations on my podcast here blwpodcast.com/episodes/213

      Same. Spoon feeding was the worst decision I could make. Quit ASAP and do baby led weaning. Mine is almost 3 and also still sucking food then spitting it out so he gets most of his nutrition from a nutritional smoothie I make for him. My second is on his way and I am 100% not doing spoon feeding again.

    My baby is 15month old already, she used to eat her meals by herself before 12 months old, but She disliked sitting on her chair so i stopped it, now she wants to eat by herself but she doesnt know how to use her spoon and she wants to use utensils. Should I start again with bigger chunks and let her eat using fingers? When can i introduce using spoon?

    My boy has started angry ripping food apart. I've not let him spoon feed, i should have when he was 6 months. He's 1 week from 1 year. What is best to do? ps just bought the suction bowls to start him with self feeding from tomorrow.

      @marlennepatlan2050 it's so fun now. The past 3 weeks my boys literally been spoon feeding him self. I bought the suction bowls from amazon a pack of 3. They're amazing. My health visitor said try using the little spoons for self feeding and he uses those now instead of the long ones. I got those again from Amazon (silicone non branded). So when I'm feeding him, I literally load his first spoon with food making sure it's not too runny with texture. I then give him the spoon and say "eat it's yummy" and with the second spoon I try a little from his bowl to encourage him, then keep loading and swapping each spoon. It's messy at first but once you see them eating it's amazing. P.s instead of a carpet mat I got two Little Dimsum Bibs that covers his arms and whole body. We use a muslin cloth for the floor. Hes stopped angry ripping food 🤣 I think he was frustrated that he wanted to feed himself and doesn't let me now. Sorry for the long message but it's how we got through it and wish you the best with your little one 🥰

      Same with my son his 2 years old but he don’t want to eat. sometimes he will just taste the food and throw it away. Almost of the time he will just hold his food and throw it away he never try to taste it or put on his mouth. It’s hard to feed him every day

      I know I’m late responding here but do what works for your child. It’s so annoying how people make videos with the title “Stop doing this..” They get more views that way. Your mama and you know what’s best for your baby; you can gently expose them to different ways of eating and they will eventually get there. 💛
      Currently, Has eating gotten better for you guys?

    I need help, my baby just doesn’t put food in her mouth be it finger food or purée. We have tried fruits, veges, meat, just nothing. She loves drinking water from an open cup though.

      It can take some babies up to 8 weeks before they get the hang of self feeding, don’t give up. I also hold on water til older because it takes up very valuable room in your babies stomach. We do not want to make babies feel artificially full from water when they need the time to learn how to eat food.

    My baby is happy to finger food, but when it comes to foods like oatmeal or Spag Bol, she likes us to feed her. She can use the spoon to feed herself but will never get her hands in to feed and prefers to sit back and for us to spoon feed her. Any tips to get her feeding herself? X

    • @babyledweaning
      @babyledweaning  Год назад

      Older babies can definitely be playing with you a little bit if they know that they don't have to feed themselves and that you will do it for them. I would suggest taking a break from feeding her and go back to using the pre-loaded spoon approach. She might be upset at first, but she will get the hang of it with some practice 💕

      try using 2 spoons.
      fill one and give it to your baby while you prepare the other and swap the two

    What if your baby won’t eat finger foods at all? My baby gets mad because she wants to actually eat a good amount of food and when she’s eating finger foods she isn’t able to get much in her belly. She also sometimes tries to grab food, but her grasp is so strong that she squishes it everywhere and it never reaches her mouth.

    • @WhimsicalCrochet
      @WhimsicalCrochet Год назад +1

      We do the pre loaded spoon approach but she’s been doing that for a month now, she gets frustrated with finger foods and won’t eat them. She won’t pick them up on her own either, only if I hand it to her.

    • @babyledweaning
      @babyledweaning  Год назад

      It's totally typical for babies to need time to learn and adjust 💕 It can take up to 8 weeks of practice before babies really get the hang of things, but during this time the majority of their nutrition is still coming from breastmilk/formula to help with the transition 😊

      Isn't the correct way to eat a sandwich etc with your hands? Both hands and spoon and fork and chopstick can be a correct way to eat 😂 Babies do not know how to use their hands well yet so of course they should learn to use their hands before a spoon or any other utensil
