The functional density of the Swedish Military kit, with a few mods is really hard to beat. I prefer the civvy burner. Add to that a home cobbled lid and a simmer ring designed purely for pasta/rice and it is a combination that is unbeatable. The thought and design that went into it is astinishing. Best bit of kit I own.
I my opinion this one does not stand a chance to the traditional trangia. the oval shape causes too much heat loss and makes it ineffective. works fine if you just wan't to heat up a precooked meal but not for melting and boiling snow or actual cooking.
I have one of these and my feedback is that it is 'adequate' and no more. Fuel consumption is high, handle on frying pan gets red hot to handle when your food or water has boiled. Billy pot is too deep and fiddly when slotted into the burner shield, soots up a lot during use and needs to be cleaned every time. Overall- junk, that's my honest opinion. I have a sun gas 'Baby Uno' portable single burner stove for my hiking that would fit neatly into a back pack.Puts this s*hite in the shade.
how come nobody shows how to strap down a swedosh mess kit ...maybe nobody knows how to do it right ... well go to petey20201 to see how it's done right...

Very nice, nformative video. Thanks.
If you put water in the large pan,you could cook pasta or rice and have the small pan on the top heating through, they fit together nicely
Just bought this kit on eBay. Thx for the video.
nice. very informative
cooked fried eggs on mine the other day cause my cooker ran out of gas at home. top marks to the swedes for design and functionality
Take the gasket out of the lid before lighting. Put gasket to the side or in your pocket until ready to cap the stove
No disrespect but your fumbles and mishandles are almost to the point of hilarity. No matter! Still an informative & useful video!
He has the aluminum stove. Get the steel version..
