I had a teacher in 4th grade basically say I couldn’t read a 7th grade level reading book. It was Doctor Dolittle. That made me feel like absolute garbage. I still remember it. I was so mad. I proved her off. Read it cover to cover and took the test on it and scored 100%.
Also i think when people ask us like ''why did you do bad on this test?'' we usually say '' ____ is not my strong suit'' and not ''well ig i didn't practice enough'' because we would rather believe that we are naturally incompetent at something than believing that we ourselves need to put some more work on it. And it slowly just sets in in our brain and becomes somewhat of a reality.
Wow that just really made a difference in my thinking. I was procastinating so much the last week because I just thought that I'm bad at that one subject. But now I'm really excited to turn things around and get the best at this subject. I really can't express how thankful I am and how much you just influenced my motivation. You've just earned a follower!
Liam, Thank you so so much for making such quality content!! I follow all your advice and your videos have truly absolutely changed the way i study and look at work in general!! I've been so much more productive since discovering your channel!
I love this. It came at a time when I needed it the most. I've recently being struggling with completing my assessments for law school. Now you've changed my perspective. Thank you so much!
Whilst Dunning-Kruger tells us we overestimate our current abilities or knowledge, Learned Helplessness tells us we underestimate our capacity to learn and improve. The human mind is fascinating.
As a first year international student in the UK studying law, I relate to the idea of telling myself certain narratives. I think it has limited how much I can do and thoroughly affected my performance and self confidence because of the many stereotypes I have come to believe attached to where I come from and where I am. Thank you for another wonderful video Liam, I massively appreciate it.
Really great message, surprising how often I do this and don't realise- especially in difficult stuff like my degree. Also the editing is really fucking good!
Awesome insight and content - I really needed this!!! I am in a residency position and this week I just felt sooooo overwhelmed by the amount of work that I don't know, but I recognise a lot of what you said in myself! Time for a mindshift change. Thank you for the content and keep on creating!
This vid is fantastic, especially at a time when everything is virtual and you see things others are achieving and you feel you are already behind the pack (well not in reality... but you feel that way) and then you enter the cycle of learned helplessness.
Liam this is absolutely fantastic, exactly what I needed and I was FULLY absorbed in the video, your delivery is fantastic. Well done you so proud of you!! X
I think I am already pretty good at procrastination
all of us .hhh👍
Me too haha
It’s crazy how much a little confidence boost can impact your ability to do something, whether it’s learning a new language or perfecting a skill
I was only just wondering... when is Liam posting again. I needed this. One of the best and meaningful things I've watched in a while.
Me too !
Yahhhoooooo!! Thanks so much Ed :)
LOL THAT TRUMP CLIP, SAVAGE but 1000% warranted
You laugh too hard for someone from a country with a dictatorship and that unleashed a gigantic virus upon the world.

Couldn't agree more! We tend to like to see stuff we're not good at as stuff we're not 'talented' in, a mindset we need to try and get out of :)

The mind is a power thing whatever you believe you end up manifesting.
