OG VIDEO: • King Diamond - Sleeple...
ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

Have a great day!!

the Fact that King Diamond is 64 years old and still can sing like that say's something for the man .
Him and Rob Halford both. Great vocal range on both of them.
@@TorIverWilhelmsen Agreed
He's the King
Fuck I can’t believe it’s been a year since I saw him in concert last year. Dude still sounds great, and sounds even better now he quit smoking cause you could tell in the last album he couldn’t sing like he could in the 80s
@@TorIverWilhelmsen Damn right dude. I would like to add Ralph Scheepers into a list, singer of Primal Fear. Actually, years ago he wanted to be a singer for Priest during Halford having some issues. Well, good he didn´t get a job since both Priest and Primal Fear are excellent Metal bands. And so are every King Diamond projects.
He's born on 14 June 1956, he lived through triple-bypass surgery in the end of 2010. And still is one of the best metal singers.
1777
Correction, as Tony philis mentioned, he was born July 7th, 1777
I've never been a Huge fan although I do appreciate the talent.
And now I know King and I share the same birthday albiet he's ten years older than I am!
Joe Yuzwa he was born on the 7th millisecond of the 7th second of the 7th minute of the 7th half hour of the 7th hour
I was born on a cemetery under the light of the moooooon ! June 13
It’s weird how proud it makes me feel to see her getting it.
Not quite sure she's ready to Enter the Coven, but, will accept the fact!
@Ripper Natas It ain't weird my Metal friend cause I feel the same way. So many other reaction video's seem oblivious to what we know. That and I think I have a bit of a crush on Rebecca:)
laudanum669 who doesn’t ? She’s got such visceral tonality in her voice- it’s so bow-chicka bow woww- if ya know what I mean. She’s hot, well spoken, and does that roller coaster thing of going from on the verge of complete indulgence to reigning it in.
BitterMan A Sexy Alpha female ... oh the fun you would have😉
Ikr
King Diamond makes me proud to be Danish. My father used to say hi to him when shopping for groceries in the local supermarket.
ABOlsen69X damn that right there is just epic. 😱
Was King shopping for live animals to sacrifice?
Torgo1969 As if other religions didn’t do that? :p
@@yuyaricachimuel555 I meant no offense. We all know King is eccentric, but he's something special when he opens his mouth to sing!
Torgo1969 of course xD Maybe he puts a lot of extreme spices in his food
King Diamond records are a complete story. His concerts are shows telling the story...
That is right. And when he changes from falsetto to low register, to chest voice and the way he uses inflections it is usually him portraying different characters of the story. Each style of voice means a different person on the story.
Yep, that's the great thing about King. It's like reading a book or watching a movie.
He ripped off the grandma concept from Steven king! Its in the Bachman books! and the 80's twilight zone series made it into s short movie. GRANDMA!
@superglou913 absolutely I love them and conspiracy because they tied together they're both my ultimate to favorite albums I'll give you a big thumbs up for that one dude
@@tjlightningbolt you're so full of shit like he's got time to watch that shit or read Stephen King's bulshit what the fuck ever you don't like the king go listen to something else fucking poser
There's a reason he's called King! Best part is that he's in his 60s, and still killing it.
Agree with you mate 100%. 😊

Not to mention still doing it after a triple bypass procedure. Guy is a true artist and you can tell that he loves what he does for his fans

Absolutely dude he's 63 just had a birthday June 14th he was born in 1956 and he's still kicking ass and just in case if you don't know what his real name is his real name is Kim Bendix Petersen and he is the man you don't hear anybody at that age that sounds that good not even fucking Rob Halford of Judas Priest sounds that good and you heard priest in concert by the time he gets in the third or fourth or fifth so he starts losing his voice King might have a little bit of moments during in concert like if it's too hot or if he's doing a long set but it does not disappoint his fans hail the king of metal
King diamond is one of the greatest singers of all time and a master of his craft...at his age shows how strong and trained he is...just love him and the music is just incredible...the king forever
A King Diamond concert is basically an electrified opera show from 200 years ago.
Very well said
King Diamond is pretty much a god among us old school metalheads. Phenomenal head voice as you heard.
One of the best shows I ever saw was king diamond. They came out and my metal fam went ape shit. Showed them damn kids what's up.
only because everyone else who doesn't sell out to the Illuminati get black balled from the industry!
...and he sounds good live, now, just like in the albums from the early 80s (contrast with Papa Het)
@@kevinm8804 Awesome. I like pizza too.
He doesn't sing in falsetto it's called Head voice
I cant be the only metalhead that subbed to Rebecca's channel just to watch her reactions.
I only subscribe to her Channel just because it was King Diamond and the other fact is because she's hot and I love British women you're so sexy but she fails to answer me and I'm going to unsubscribe from her Channel because she doesn't reply to me fuck that does other King Diamond songs that she should hear but I don't get no response so fuck it I rather watch King Diamond videos and live in concert stuff they listen to her reactions on other bands that I don't care about
@@billcummins5801 Here's a tissue for your issue.
Nope
Her rack is a plus as well.
Adam East you’re an idiot
Rebecca a lot of us viewer/subscribers are the age of these 80s rockers you are reacting to. We love your delivery and validation of what we've known for decades about these musicians and singers. They are super human, talent wise. We did hair windmills to their material when it was new. I particularly enjoy your reactions to K Diamond, Geoff Tate, R Halford, B Dickenson, RJ DIo, M Kiske, J Oliva.....so many more. Like watching a child open packages on Christmas. Sorry I can only like/subscribe once !
Quite validating indeed.. She has been changed by her exposure to metal.. Big fan here in Virginia USA..
Michael sweet of Stryper!
Exactly
@@Deetroiter that's funny just because you've satanic King Diamond and Christian Michael Sweet together. Love it! Both are amazing. How about a tour? Weird
Yes, long before the web existed.
each voice is characters in his songs. he writes full stories for each album .so the different voices are for different characters. been listening to king diamond since the 80s
Finally someone that gets his work as full story concepts my favorite album is house of God about the guy that trades places with the cursed woman that can't leave the church
I since Abigail 🤘
Me too
Exactly and the King puts on a masterclass with every album and show
King Diamond, "taking it to another level" since 1981.
Great video!
hell since King Diamond and the Black Rose days
I was gonna say, she should listen to something recorded back then. He's still got it, though.
@@peterhineinlegen4672 I think he actually got better. The King from 30 years ago might have had a greater vocal range, but the acting and storytelling in this video is outstanding.
He's not that far off of range even now. At least in this song, he could hit the notes, just lack a tiny bit of sustain. Of all the people I figured would lose it getting older, King Diamond was on top of that list. But he's proven me wrong. Same as Halford, Dickenson, and Geoff Tate. They all still sound great. Plus like you said the stage presence and shows are better now.
@@davejradkins6564 It's hard know every genre so I'm going to avoid demeaning her. She was quite complimentary so hopefully the King got a new fan
King Diamond is badass! Been listening to King since the mid 80's. Love the Falsetto. He survived a heart attack a few years ago. A treasure.
@@BlackieNuff he said in an interview he had to relearn how to do everything in terms of singing. He sounds absolutely better than ever now though.
Well I have to say for a first time exposure to King Diamond, she "got it" really quick
Very rare.
The man is a legend. You have to hear the studio versions of his songs where his harmonies give you chills.
King is amazing. Her reactions says it all. He deserves way more respect . Long live the KING!!
Smart woman. Great that credit is given where it's due instead of shrugging off another metal singer as someone who just "screams". Takes talent folks to do it correctly. KD has always nailed it. Bravo Rebecca!
@showbizonastick even with the screamo guys she still listens and gives a chance.
RVA actually knows what she is talking about and realizes what these metal singers are doing.
No, she is a professional, she can recognize talent right away
Check out his previous band, Mercyful Fate. So underrated.
Melissa album art is wicked asF, imo 😉
pretty sure evry1 know about 'Fate bro i got DBTO & Melissa play both ALL the time
Dude I saw them on tour back in 1999!
@@Metalwheel Don't break the oath album , too !
Not underrated in his home country, Denmark - he's been popular for more than 30 years and is still going strong. :)
One of the most underrated bands and lead vocal ever.
Yes. Halford and Dickinson and Dio get lots of love, but I think King blows them all away! I saw him in Detroit a few days ago.
King Diamond is one of the sweetest and warmest people I've ever had the honor to meet. And no one can do what he can. No one.
Closest singer that comes to my mind is Mr Dr from Devil Doll, still find King better tho.
I got to meet him at Milwaukee Metalfest in '92. He was staying down teh hall from us. He was really down to earth. My buddy I went with didn't believe me when I went back to the room that I was out there BSing with The King. The next day we ran into him again and I got a "Hey, how you doing?"
Years later I met Volbeat's light man, Niller. He is one of the nicest people you could meet. He also works for King Diamond and was running lights for this show. He gave me his setlist that night..
HERB TARLEK! haha..
There is NO ONE more appreciative of his fans!
Wow, that's awesome. I've only seen him in interviews but he really seems like a great person. would love to go to a KD gig one day
I’m a simple man, I see a King Diamond video and I click

Fucking right absolutely why because King Diamond is the man can't take nothing away from that man is no real good guy will take pictures side autographs talk with you he's a great guy I don't care what anybody has to say bad about him whoever says anything bad about his because they're not famous and they're pissed off
I see a Rebecca reaction video and i click !
Me too , I watched the same concert she is viewing a few days ago. It was recorded very well & sounds amazing

I love how a vocal coach is tongue tied trying to explain what she has just heard. I get goosebumps every time I listen to this song.
THE EYE ,THEM, ABIGAIL,CONSPIRACY . names of his albums that are a must listen "don't be afraid" ….
The high notes in Abigail are phenomenal..
THE EYEEEEE
Fatal Portrait!!!!!!
You just validated so many old metal heads like myself.
And young ones that enjoy quality music
Livia Zita-Bendix, who is King Diamond's wife (and backing vocalist) response to your video on FB is "I adore her, and she finally did a KD reaction video!!!"
The backup singer dude that's King Diamond wife and in 2017 she gave birth to his son Byron
And I think Kim Bendix is Kings Diamond's real name also has the last name of Peterson but that kind of puzzles me why she has his middle name as her second last name if his last name is Peterson why isn't her last name Peterson behind her first last name that doesn't make any sense
@@billcummins5801 It is actually fairly common in Denmark. Since Bendix is a uncommon surname, Kim Petersen has probably taken her surname as a middle name during their marriage. However she does not have to do the same.
Welcome to the world of metal. Musicianship, performance, theatrics, and conveying of stories.
His early Mercyful Fate stuff was amazing. Melissa is 🔥
YES FINALLY!! I've wanted you to react to the King for SO LONG!
you and me both!
I can't believe she did it! I suggested it in the comments on another video maybe a week ago
I wish you take a look at a few of his other songs like at the graves Twilight Symphony welcome home tea visit from the dead victimized between Abigail them and conspiracy those were his best albums when it comes to writing songs and storytelling in the way he sang the songs she needs to hear them is there a fucking awesome
Thank you SO MUCH for checking out a metal legend! One of the most distinctive voices in the world, I love him to bits.
Cute fun fact: the lady singing backing vocals is his wife! :)
I met King before a show in 1986 on the Fatal Portrait tour, at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago. Just the nicest man around. Very approachable and down to earth. Astonishing vocal abilities live.
mikkey dee was the original drummer on this song and he is a beast. best drummer king diamond ever had and drummed on all king most legendary albums.
The thing I loved most about king diamond is he doesn't just write a song he writes a story and then he and his band write a show to backdrop the story.
It is always fun to see someone check out King for the first time!! He is simply a legend!
King Diamond is one of those bands you show to people to see what their reaction is. I remember my first time, I laughed at how he sang. But that's typical for someone who doesn't really understand what they're being shown. (I was like 16 and just getting into Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, not really ready for this.)
Anyway, it didn't take me long to understand why this is amazing. Andy Larocque is a fucking god. Also Mercyful Fate is badass too. \m/
I can relate... In 1985 my metal friends in high school let me borrow don't break the oath and warned me the singer sounded like a baby! LOL
I like how Andy has so much control when he plays guitar....like jenduxbskxhebxusvwkxkeb
Ditto! Back in those days I couldn't get past his vocals at all! But I finally made myself sit down and listen to "Melissa" and "Don't Break The Oath" and immediately found myself saying "What the hell was I thinking?! This is brilliant!" (Oddly enough, I'd always dug his solo material, go figure.)
I attended this show. The fact that King Diamond can still sing like that in his 60s is amazing.
One of my absolute favourites. A few things to keep in mind here. He was 58 years old for this concert and has been doing this since the late 70s. In 2010 he had a triple-bypass, essentially from smoking too much to the point that his arteries got blocked up. And he still has that voice.
Oh and finally, his microphone handle is made of human bones, a femur and a tibia. :)
Exactly! He stopped smoking since the heart attack...
His voice is stronger than ever. He turned 63 yesterday. Happy birthday to the King!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
He's 63 btw and been at it since the mid 1970's :D Also, Abigail is one of, if not the best theatrical concept album of all time.
Chickenbeek I got to disagree although Abigail is great Them is my favorite
The puppet master or fatal portrait are the best albums
@@arkhamlovecraft5592 Fatal isn't a concept album. I haven't heard Puppet Master though, but the only Diamond i really listen to these days is Mercyful Fate and Abigail, for no real reason just that i have favorites and i listen to so much metal from the last 50 years. Them is awesome as well, but Abagail for it's story, ( is better than Them imo, Abigail is way more immersive and very much like an Edgar Alan Poe story) plus the riffs, the mix/ambience, solos etc, as far as his concept albums it is his best.
@@arkhamlovecraft5592 fatal portrait yes Puppet Master no Puppet Master sucked them and conspiracy those were the two album sex really was fucking awesome because they tied together and one big fucking Horror Story totally fucking awesome
@@chickenbeek Abigail is good but when it comes to them and conspiracy you can make two awesome movies out of that storyline for both of those album maybe three or four movies out of those two albums and you can make 1Abigail I don't take nothing away from that album because he's is a good album but mean to you that you could make awesome movies to that cuz it's got a really awesome storyline is them in conspiracy cuz I seen a video where King was talking about where he got the concept for Abigail somebody told him about some type of possession or haunting and he ran with it so basically it didn't come straight out of his head somebody told him about it and then he just put extra stuff into it what does really good but it wasn't straight out of his head that like them and conspiracy those with straight out of his head it was an inspiration from somebody else but I do like the Abigail album it's awesome it's got some really good songs but you can't take nothing away from them and conspiracy it should be a director out there somewhere that could make two movies or four movies of those two albums
he's a master of making storytelling albums and he is very unique as a vocalist, one of the underrated masters
K.D. is a master of the theatre. Hires the best musicians and writes and conceptualizes out of this world.
SO excited to hear what you have to say on this.. King Diamond is one special story teller, his albums are all horror movies waiting to happen. Haunting band.
And about satanism which i love
one of them did! "Grandma" concept came from The Bachman Books under the title Grandma. The Kind got it from Steven King. It was featured in the 80's twilight zone series.
This warmed my heart. Kind Diamond is my favorite musician! And to see someone react the same way I did when I first heard him hits me on a personal level! Thank you! 😭🖤🤘🔥
What you've just watched and heard is a pure musical perfection and flawless live performance.
That's why he's KING!
I am absolutely in love with her reaction at 5:28 - 5:50. Keep getting back to it over and over again. To be fair though, that is one of King's best live performances ever.
Welcome to the wonderful world of King Diamond! Glad you like it!
And he’s 63(!) in a couple of days. Legend!
He was 59 during this performance though.
Dan Maler Yeah but he’s as good now.
Thank you so much for doing this video. Everything about this is amazing. King Diamond is one of my all time favorites and watching you react to this video made my night!!!
1000 genres in one.... that is King Diamond summed up beautifully
And yes, he does enjoy playing for his fans... a truly thankful artist who appreciates and respects his fans
Thank you for having the balls to react to King Diamond! His voice is very divisive. Many people are turned off by the falsetto. As for me, I love it! He's entirely self-taught btw
I hope she hasn't got balls, I've been tugging myself silly over her for several weeks now.
Kind Diamond is a legend, and for good reason. His vocals are one of a kind. You generally either like them or not. I've been a fan since I first heard him in Mercyful Fate way back in the early 80's. A few quick fun facts about the King:
He is 62 years old. Yes...... 62 and still sounding incredible (his birthday is June 14. Happy early birthday King!) He had triple bypass surgery 8-9 years ago. He obviously recovered well is and going strong. The female backup singer on the side of the set is actually his wife.
Kink diamond albums are awesome!! His voice is unlike no other!!! And see how amazing he sounds live! This was live folks!!!!! Most bands sound terrible live but not the king!!!!!!
you really need to watch an ENTIRE show ...he is amazing
I see king diamond, I hit like.

"So much goin' on"
Off course,it's Mr King Diamond🤘🤘
My band had the extreme pleasure to be the supporting act for King Diamond, a few years ago. King and the rest of the band were so gracious and welcoming, to us, a local band. That when the club security guard ask us to leave the backstage area, King Diamond and Andy la Rocque, Kings lead guitarist and song calibrator, told them, that we were all welcomed to remain backstage to enjoy the show. The entire band plus their road crew were so cool to us, taking pictures, inviting us on the tour bus, giving us t-shirts, autographs, drink, food. The reason, so we were told, that King had invited us to stay backstage was because, the rest of the band had seen our entire show and were extremely impressed with our music, that they passed this on to King. He in turned, thank us for warming up the crowd and asked to be his quest backstage to enjoy the show and tour bus after the show.
It sounds like there's a new King Diamond fan coming into the coven.
Nice reference. First MF song I heard.
I was in to King and Mercyful Fate and black rose way before King Diamond but when he looked Mercyful Fate In for canned item that's when he really took off he became a legend after the first four albums and that ain't no shit

There are really a good many top metal singers. But there will only ever be one King Diamond. 🤘
King Diamond is the most beautiful and amazing Voice in all of Classic Metal... None even compare/compete with him. \,,/ imho Nice Reaction...
king diamond is also a very very smart man. there will only be one king diamond ever
King Diamond, a.k.a. Kim Bendix Petersen. He's been part of the metal scene since the mid 70s. One of the pioneers of the dark, theatrical side of metal.
According to metal legend, King Diamond was self-taught - he was originally a guitarist in his earliest days, but when an opening came up for vocalist he just filled in and figured it out as he went. In his interviews and so on he comes across as a really nice, quiet, soft-spoken, and polite character. His early stuff from before Mercyful Fate (Black Rose, The Brats, Danger Zone, etc.) is worth tracking down, at least for fans and completists - he didn't have anything like this sort of range back before Mercyful Fate, but his voice is still easily recognizable, and there's also the novelty of hearing punk/shock rock versions of some of those early Mercyful Fate songs before they adopted the whole gothic/heavy metal thing....

@@pietrayday9915 I've always loved how composed he was during interviews. he really does seem to be a down to earth, but still proper gentleman. He definitely has class, but doesn't seem snobby about it.
Them was one of the greatest Horror Story albums ever produced
Yes it was but you're forgetting conspiracy it's the follow-up to them and I love both albums you can write two awesome horror movies from each one of those albums including Abigail and fatal portrait House of God graveyard spiders lullaby you can probably even write a movie to the eye although that really is a horse to right but you can make something out of me to wear it would scare the shit out of somebody which would be awesome we need somebody like King to sit down with a director and a producer and go over his albums and I guarantee you can see quite a few movie is coming if they're just for somebody that had a brain and sit down and talk with King
The Eye is my favorite though of all the King Diamond albums.
@@transsylvanian9100 Yes. I've recently discovered how good The Eye is. Say what you will about the supernatural horror of King's other albums, The Eye is more horrifying because it is so obviously believable that these things actually happened and are likely still happening. It's full of all-too-believable torture and abuse, but violence that was justified for supernatural reasons.
So was Abigail.
@@sethcashman1011 Abigail is a treasure, and I particularly love it in its entirety on the Songs For The Dead concert CD/DVD.

He is like Freddie Mercury got ready for Halloween....
Exatly...
Except king diamond isn't gay.. and more tha likely despises them LOL
You're right. I think King is even more operistic and theatrical than Freddie. Close minded people always tend to mention sexual orientation when talking about Freddie or Rob Halford and that's an entirely personal matter. King's wife is like 20 years younger than him, who cares?

Dear Rebecca, I came to your channel randomly while looking for King Diamond content on youTube and I enjoyed your reaction video very much! I am a fan of King Diamond since 1993. A friend of mine made me listen to a tape of King ("The Eye"), when I was 13 years old and I have been a huge fan ever since! It was interesting for me to see what a professional, educated musician like you, who is not linked to metal thinks of King Diamond. I was happy to see that you liked and appreciated his singing performance and also the musicianship. I am saying this because this brings me back to my school days. In 9th grade our music teacher asked us to bring a tape with our favourite song to school. Obviously in the mid 90s Eurodance and boy bands were quite popular, so a lot of my class mates brought songs of such bands. I brought in a King Diamond song (it was Eye of the Witch) and you know what my teacher said? He said that this is just noise with a lot of screaming and he does not consider this to be music. He even asked if my parents know what I am listening to!!! It is one thing to say that you do not like such kind of music, but it is another thing to talk down the musicianship. Anyway, keep on going and best of luck for your channel! You are doing a great job! Regards from Germany!
For you to actually be worried about him being ok, that says so much about you. You are a blessing to this world of ours, I mean that. With any and all of your imperfecrions/shortcomings/whatever. Aside from that, another cool reaction, thanks lovely lady :)
It is great you saw King Diamond live to see him change his voice He is the Best out there

Stunning in every way

@@Brinshoo Hey men, dont spik palavrão seu sem vergonha na cara.
King Diamond is so brilliant as a singer and Sleepless Night is a really good choice to enter in his world. But King Diamond is also a band with perfect and amazing musicians/friends.
I appreciate you being open to all genres of music and really getting into it and possibly making it part of your selection you listen to
Another King Diamond song I could recommend is "A Mansion In Darkness" off of his album "Abigail". In that song you get to see a great deal of his range as well. Plus the song is just epic anyways, as is his whole album that the song comes off of. That album tells a fantastic story, I wish someone in Hollywood would get with him and make a movie from it.
You should listen to Abigail. That song is great and his voice is AMAZING!! 🤘🏻
Try the word beautifully awesome that's how I describe King Diamond voice totally beautiful totally awesome got a beautiful Melody to his voice I love the album of Abigail but I like them and conspiracy so much better because for one they tied together and he hits a really high notes in those two albums
Deffs his best song! I'm 30 years old and I can thank my dad for this!!!!
King diamond! Finally! He is amazing
The older King gets, the better his voice gets. Awesome!!
His voice is getting better because he quit smoking and he is past amazing I would say he is it God amongst singers and a beautiful Melody you can hit Optics that nobody else can hit he's just fucking awesome
King diamond is one of the best vocalists. Ever.
"Thirteen days have come & gone since the 1st day of June".
I've always knew I had a connection with this dude. I heard it through his music, & we both took our first breath in life on a day of our beginning. HELL to the king ...
King Diamond is an amazing vocalist. An acquired taste for many, for sure. Try his Mercyful Fate era stuff...
And he was a lifelong smoker coming off quadruple bypass at around 60 years old at this recording g
And he came back at his best since the 90ies. Simply the king
