- If your alignment is good but your steering wheel is off center, I will show you how to center your steering wheel on your 1999-2016 Ford Super Duty truck. This applies only to 4x4 models and wont work on 2wd trucks.
Just came across this and wanted to say thanks, it was exactly what I needed to fix my steering wheel alignment on a new 2020 F550. This showed my exact set up. Mine was so fresh once Ioosend up the bolts I could literally turn it with my hand, no pipe wrench needed. I will note that as you said, if you go until your steering wheel is straight or aligned again, you've likely gone too far. In my case it ended up being twice as far as I needed to go, so I ended up doing two test drives, the first I had gone too far, the second time I nailed it dead on. Thanks again.
Excellent
Great video bro. I always go back to it every few years to refresh my memory
Worked perfect, great video, right to the point and not talking about it for 10 minutes before doing the job. Thank you
Just changed my ball joints and now steering is to the right. Gonna give this a try. 👍🏼
Awesome video. Mine is cockeyed. Was getting annoyed and was gonna take it to mechanic but Im a man and would prefer doing this myself and you just showed me how. Thanks man. Great instructions too!
+John Rambo Thanks. Im glad it helped you out.
I went to a ditch and made it a little crooked 😂 but it drives straight but the steering wheel is crooked.
The nits are 13mm and 17mm. Thank you, your advise was very helpful!
you do a really nice job on your videos. top notch. i subscribed based on your quality. old retired navy guy.
Thank you
Thanks for the video. Bought a New 2018 F350 and the steering wheel has always been about 1" to the right. Got it all straightened up now. Thanks
Excellent
Can this adjustment be made with truck tires sitting on the ground
Takes nowhere near A-day I'm a shade tree guys so I am not a mechanic took me about 20 minutes with 4 minor adjustments and drives. worked like a charm
This video really helped me out
worked like a charm! i have a 2019 and worked perfect thanks for video.
That’s embarrassing
Thank you for this video. Just bought one and its heavy to the left so this was very helpful.
Thanks For The Vid, I Need To Do That This Weekend!
Thanks for the video I'm going to get alignment because I just install a 6 inch lift the wheels are pointinh straight but the wheel is off this will help me for tomorrow and until I get it into the alignment shop
Tanner M If you haven't done so, you will probably want to replace the pitman arm with one made fire trucks with a lift.
I'm about to go outside and try this now I just replaced drag link and tie rod so here we go
Cheers, thanks for this vid!!!
Your video helped me bro!
Thanks brother this helped me out!
Thank you for showing the direction 👍
Thanks ..! I just make my f250 straight again...!!!
Thank you for the video, saved me $$$
Great video thank you!!
Jack both tires up and you can get everything nice n straight
Really helpful and well explained. Thanks!
at the shop i worked at we set toe on the machine and then got steering close by eye and drove them loose and then would pull over and move it and drive again and move it until we got it right. bolt it tight on the spot
This made it easy. Appreciate the help.
Just have to be sure the alignment is good. not just drive but tires wearing
I did a really rough job today. Heard a loud noise from steering in ..
After that my steering wheel was upside does and this linkage had clearly moved out at least an inch.. oh boy
My only advice is give yourself a day todo this so you can go on several test drives if you want it dead center and perfect.
i got an alignment thinking that would have fixed the problem but it didn't, so after i do this will if put the alignment off?
Great video btw! Thanks in advanced.
+Daniel this should not affect your alighnment. It only changes the position of your steering wheel
i would take the truck back and make them align the steering wheel. Do not use that shop again, wow.
Yeah I just got an alignment my wheel still slightly to left. 130. 00 !!
Yeah, man thanks for the video. It seems we're about to do this on a 22 model, so Ford still can't get it right lol.
I just had my ball joint replaced on my 07 f350 about 2k miles ago. Had an alignment then. Just noticed a few days ago the steering wheel is cockeyed to the left a little bit.
Thanks!
I think this makes sense for 2wd too
Actually adjuster is on opposite side 2002 Ford F250
This doesn't affect alignment? Just the steering wheel correct?
Correct
How about posting the same for 2016 ford f150 xl two wheel drive
Hi, I have a 2015 f350 SD crew cab it just had an alignment, but have you ever heard of ...my steering wheel will not lock unless its inside down....🤨☹😔
Great job
Same problem here I’m wondering if this will fix the uneven inside wearing on the front tires?
Sounds like you need an alignment
Does this work on a 2017 f550 4 WD as well
Question, I have a 2014 f250 on a 10inch lift with 40 15.50 26r. Is it normal to have to hold the steering wheel to one side to keep it straight? My old truck had to hold slightly but this one there seem to be alot of play. Is it just cause I'm higher with bigger tires? Thanks for the advice in advance and happy Holidays!
Definitely not normal. You probably need an alignment
@@JackofAllMasterofNone ok sounds good brother thanks
Nice video..I have my 2015 F-250 which made me fight with the wheel. Suddenly the steering wheel went to the right and I had to force it to come back and on another occasion also to the left side.Previous to this I replaced the steering stabilizer but I was not very convinced because it is from the autozone .. I really don't know what to think!
Para qué jodidos la compraste en Autozone entonces
Thankyou
Does the truck have to be jacked up to do this? I’m assuming it does
No it does not. In fact you dont want it to be jacked up. Wheels need to be on the ground so they dont turn
What size are the nuts?
Does this affect steering angle displayed in the Off-road Truck app menu? In other words, how does the steering wheel angle sensor know that straight is now in a different steering wheel position?
I just made the adjustment and went for a long drive. The Truck App steering angle is 0.0 degrees when I’m going straight. Not sure how that worked itself out, but it’s not an issue.
If it was way off maybe, but not in my case. If it's that far off you have a major mechanical issue that would require an alignment
I watched this video and tried it and my steering wheel is still crooked i couldnt get it to straighten. Whats going on with that ??
No idea. Apparently your doing it wrong or you have another major problem. Did it move at all?
What year is that truck in the video?
2012
Should you do this before or after an alignment?
Ideally after, if necessary. But part of an alignment is centering the steering wheel.
Thx! also does the steering wheel need to be locked or free?
do i need to do this key on or does it not matter? (so the steering wheel is unlocked)
As long as the steering wheel is able to move to the point you need to adjust it, it doesn't matter. I would have the key on
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Thanks for the reply sir!!!! doing this tomorrow i really appreciate it
Wow what a Super Tech! I hate hobos
Great vid!! thank you so much. helped me a lot!!
