It’s part of Turkey that both myself and Trudie have never explored before.
This part of Turkey has interesting history going back to the migration of mankind and the development of early religions and the first known agriculture. Some of the first built christian churches and mosques are all in this fascinating region.

I’m from Turkey / Adana but currently living in Canada/Vancouver , Greetings from Vancouver , I explored ur channel right now and your videos made me happy , thanks for your all beautiful thoughts about my country , ❤️ btw Have you ever been in Adana? it’s quite close to Hatay , you should visit Adana too!! Adana has a very old history back to the Roman Empire, and there are structures that still survive today. I am pretty sure that you will love it, but I don’t recommend you go to Adana in summer because extremely hot city🥵 😂💕

Fantastic series your wife and you are creating. It so fascinating to see a normal type of life from these areas, far away from the war scenes from Aleppo, not very far from here, we have been fed with for so long. Your series really makes us (my wife and me) want to explore also the eastern parts of Turkey and not only the usual places we have been to so far. Hope to see you around Delta Hotel in Fethiye in May 2020
@@mickandtrudie yeah black sea region is like amazon forests in brazil. but AKP and their islamist/liberal/wild-capitalist soul is there too. they are destroying beautiful nature, forests, hundreds of years old trees with concrete buildings for arabic tourists. they have already destroyed lots of nature for thermal plants and gold mines. they are enemy of the nature and they wont stop until they make turkey an another arabic desert country for their uncouth brothers in arabia.
Incredibly realistic documentation for now and especially for the future. Not only the infrastructure is shown, to show the feelings of the people is also a fine idea. Thank you for your efforts!

I have never seen Hasankeyf, Mardin, Midyat, Diyarbakır, Hakkari, Sirnak cities in my life as turkish citizen. Thanks to visit those 1700 kms away places to Ankara city where I live.
I was reading this book - "From the Holy Mountain " by William Dalrymple which led me to Midyat and then on to your video. Enjoyed it and keep it up.

My gosh, a lot has changed in Hasankeyf. My favorite town in Turkey which I've visited in 2013 when all historical stuff are still in its original location and state. Great documentary of a great historical town. Reminded me a lot of my visit to Mardin, Midyat and especially Hasankeyf.

These areas you visited were earlier majority christian areas. I am one of the sons of that land who is the son of refugees from Midyat and its villages. May god bless us all and let us live out our lives on the soil of our forefathers🙌

@@mickandtrudie In Midyat from which my ancestors are from, it was a majority christian town up until the early 1980's but then because of persecution all christians left for Sweden, Germany, Usa etc. The 30-40 villages surrounding Midyat were also completely christian back then.
@@mickandtrudie According to turkish population census 1960. there were 600 christian households in midyat. But there were only 30 muslim households. so Christians were 600/630 houses. Which estimates that out of a population of 5,400 of those 5,000 were christians.
@@mickandtrudie Many wish to and many do. But the problem is not many people can because they cant get any visa in order to be able to buy properties. Every year mord People pack their bags and return to the land of their forefathers. But what is the name of that village?
I watch lots of turkish series like Hercai the series is record in this town that's way i was curious to see how it looks there i love turkish series they are the best i from slovakia but i really enjoy turkish series but of course this series is translated in my language

@@mickandtrudie It is about Turkish soldiers who were sent to Yemen in the first world war to fight a battle aganist The United Kingdom and rebel arabs(Lawrence of arabia) for the Ottoman empire. They went to Yemen from Muş (a city of eastern part of Turkey). They all died in Yemen. So after that tragedy, the Yemen song wrote by the local people of Muş for the memories of soldiers, death in Yemen.

Midyat is a Syriac City, unfortunately almost none Syriac people live anymore.
Mick Scarsbrook Midyat is made up of 4 Aramean (Syriac) families who originally came from Hasankeyf. After that, more Aramean families came from other places and it became an Aramaic city. The Syriac people have a rich history in Mesopotamia. Urfa (urhoy), for example, was an Aramean kingdom and unfortunately Syriac no longer lives there either. this is also the place where father Abraham comes from. You have make a good 👍
This is not Turkish fault , they migrated to Sweden for a better life , there is a big amount of Syriac living in Sweden with Turkish citizenship.
They fleed from Kurdish ambush..Also last 60 year % 60 of Turkmen families fleed from east side of Turkey from Kurdish ambushes..SO they can claim those lands to themself..For Great isreal plans..Free Kurdistan to united Kurdistan to United middle east under blue flag..There is a reason today all those citys % 70 Kurdish who came from iran and ıraq side..Around 1990 is Ozal ( ex president of Turkey ) opened boarders for KURDS from Saddam..Like today how Erdogan opened boarders to Araps..those invades totaly changed our population balance and cultural shocks..like how those 6 million ARABS will change Turkey forever next 20 year..so we was fien with Assyrians or christians we lived almost 1000 year together..But Kurdish cartels do not want to share those richses to X nations..
the Kurds are of course also guilty of the departure of syriac people. but don't forget that the syriac people in turkey were also 2nd rank citizens.
The Kurds have no history in those places. So it is not correct to say that there is Kurdistan. we even have history there before Christ.
Indigenous people and real owners of these lands are Kurds.
