I had no idea that this was a Jo-El original until just today on learning of his passing. RIP ❤
Love JS version of this great song, and when he sings in French....oh my!!
I met Joel Sonnier back in the late 70's while working with CBS in NY he had put on a show with non other than Willie Nelson in Reign LA quite an experience very nice people he and Willie.
How lucky!
Thid guy has a great, clear qualitty to his voice. Thanks for posting. More, more pls.

Bo Duke sang this at the Boars nest!
Dickie lee wrote this tune
Matthew Parker Yes. With Bob McDill. They collaborated on quite a few songs.
I would kill to know the French lyrics at the very end
pretty sure it's the chorus he sang in French
Yah, I pretty sure that it is a Dickey Lee tune!
Yep and Sonnier was the first to record it.
Conway Twitty''s Version And John Schneider's Version Are Way Better Sorry Jo-el
Not even close. All are good but Jo-El's version hit different when you grew up so close to Louisiana.
John Schneider sounded better at this song
