One of his best songs. So much soul and great guitar run. Been down that road
. Last time made me write a song called No Show Blues.

What a beautiful ballad of being STOOD UP on an evening all planned out by someone who cares enough to go out of their way. Is this the thanks I get for Loving you? It's time somebody told the truth. Nuff Said!

Jo-el or Robert Cray...this is one of the best pained filled blues tracks out there. Great version of a great song.

Nice Version !! But the original by The Robert Cray Band from 1985 is awesome

I would have to disagree with you. The original version is good, but is too smooth and polished the whole way through, almost feeling like a "paint by numbers" blues tune at times, and depends to much on the silky smooth blues piano style, while Jo-Els version has a much more raw sound thanks to the fusion of the cajun roots and honky tonk style of piano and aggressive guitar work... It really makes the feelings of hurt, anger, fear, and abandonment that the song is about come to life far more vividly.

@@ColtCobra2002 Ok I had to listen to Jo-El's version again. I agree, his guitar playing is really good but to me it lacks the feel that Robert has. It is a sad blues ballad song not needing to have a harder edge as you say. I feel the pain every time I play it & as its meant to be. And it's 35 years since I bought that "False Accusations" Album. Forget the piano, its all about the unique blues guitar and the incomparable singing of Robert that drives home the pain of the song. There is so much feeling in his singing which compliments his guitar playing. Jo-El's voice hasn't got the feeling & beautiful melodic tone that Robert's has & it doesn't match his guitar playing the way that Robert is so in sync with both. I told my partner I'd love to have the song played at my Funeral not because of the circumstances of the song, just because it is an excellent, sad song that I love.
