RIP Jo-el. He passed last night after performing his last song “Tear Stained Letter” and receiving a standing ovation in Texas. After leaving the stage he had a massive heart attack. 1/13/24. You will be missed Jo-el.
I am so touched by the news of his passing.RIP Jo el Sonnier, so underrated as a musician , one of my all time favorites. I collected many of his CD’s over the years and to this day still listen to his music. My deepest condolences to his family. He will definitely be missed. I will be buying his new album when it comes out.😢
Joe lived the words of his music. He lived the good life that south Louisiana can bring a man. Joe loved to crab and cook as well as play and sing. Almost every day during the Covid 19 shut down, Joe took his squeeze box out in the driveway of his home and sang us a song live streamed on Facebook. He truly was a blessing to everyone.
I’d forgotten how good this guy was and how I bought a few of his CD’s back in the 90’s. Amazed he wasn’t a bigger star in the States because let’s face it, as we British say “He’s bloody good!”
I learned to play this for my oldest sister, she loved this song and wanted me to learn to play and sing it..we sat in the floor of her appartment in Ennis Texas for 4 hours one nite, listening to it over and over till I got it down....SHe passed away in 2006, and every time I hear this song I think of her and vise versa...
I met him, the band, and his wife while on a cruise with my father, just before my dad died. They were the most gracious people, and what a good reflection of the Cajun music of Louisiana. I couldn't of had a better experience.... Jim from Baton Rouge.
wow ,so sorry man ,,,,, im 70 ,and i just lost my wife of 46 years to cancer too. we were like 2 peas in a pod ,,soulmates ,,,and now it hurts soo much ,,, so i understand .
my late husband played guitar as a carnie and then some 50 years. when i married him i would come home and hear this song playing and him singing and he was not playing guitar although i loved it also and could play ALL of it on harmonica which i learned trying to stop smoking. and he was sick with chrones and died. but this was one of the songs i picked up to get him to use his arms when he lost 80 pounds in 3 months. anyway. it is always wonderful to me. i love cajun. i have canadian in me. thank you for posting. love CB
I never can never decide which I love more - this or "No More One More TIme" because whichever I hear I think is better - until I hear the other again. Anyway both are beautiful and I never tire of either one ....... thanks for posting.
...must `ve been in the 80`s when I heard this track on an irish radio-program called country heartland with Neill Toner and ever since I tried to find it....well tonight`s the night......thank you so much....many happy wishes from Ireland.....
So sorry to hear this news today. Loved Jo since the 80's. This was one of my favorites ❤rest in peace Jo. Thank you for the amazing music you left us❤
Thanks Beau, so many people love this guy and this song...me and wife are fighting cancer for the last couple of years....i get you....sometimes you wonder why
Perfect song to waltz across a barroom floor covered with sawdust with a few drinks already coursing through my bloodstream, and a honky tonk angel, holding her tight, as she sings in my ear "🎶Come ON Jeb..."🎶
Thanks for this. We went to my wife's sister and her husband's cottage in Cajun Country near Digby, and he liked the song so much, playing it on his boom box on the deck, blasting at full volume across Lac d'clair inside Metaghan, the lake like a mirror in the evening. that I left the CD with him. I never did replace it, but I know it got lots of play. Those days can never be reclaimed, but they'll never be forgotten either. Rest in peace brother.
Glad I could leave you with something. I don't consider this my favorite song but rather an extension of myself. It touches just that deep, beyond favorites. There is no place like home is there? Wouldn't trade Louisiana for anything in the world
what a classic! remember sitting on my porch half lit with my hound dog beside me.Just good ole laid back cajun music. Just my style. thanks jo-el sonnier
Had this cassette back in mid 80's. Over the years it got put away with the advance of CD's and I've often searched for this on RUclips but with no success. Thanks for posting.
I will play this on my radio program next saturday AM and see if the people here on the left coast like it, I love it, it arouses a spirit in a person that makes you wanna sing. wolfie
I cannot even count how many times I sat in my room listening and listening to this over and over again. And you can't find a decent posting, I tried for years on LimeW too. Thanks for doing this. Happy life to you......
Cool! I have looked for this tune in the past, and I appreciate your posting it. My husband and I worked for LSU for four years, and of all the places I have ever lived, south Louisiana is my favorite. We're settled back in Texas for good now, but I will always love the people, the food, the music, the Mardi Gras of that very special part of the world.
So sorry for your loss. You will see her again and she will be healthy and whole. God sees your pain but He knows you will see your precious love again. May God comfort and bless you.

my favorite jo el sonier. when this came out, i was calling the radio station almost every hour asking them to play it.
I love this, especially, because of Bo's love for his wife. It's a saying we have around here too, when things get tough, "COME ON JOE!".
I really like Come on Joe. Great sad old song. Thanks a lot.
