Walt, this is another interesting case that you told so well. I read several articles about Trenny’s disappearance off the trail and I agree this is very strange indeed. She heads off the trail into thick brush and is never seen again! I don’t understand how she could be abducted out of such thick brush by a person or persons and forced to walk through the brush to the parking lot and then forced into a car with no one seeing or hearing anything. No, this doesn’t make sense. The tracking dogs gave up...no scent no nothing. I am of the belief that something else happened here and it relates to my comments on the Dennis Martin case. Thank you for bringing awareness to these stories and telling them in a very kind and respectful manner! I am a new subscriber and a new fan! 🙏
Your comments are spot on. I totally agree. Very similar to the Dennis Martin case. It is like something picked them up and carried them off. No trace. Not even a shoe lace. Thank you for subscribing. I love your well thought out comments. Take Care my friend.
The reason I think that they may not have been able to pick up a scent was perhaps something picked her up. Or, I have seen some videos and read about how the dogs will simply quit when in the presence of what they feel is a large predator.
I was also 16 in 1976 so this incident interests me as one of the most unexplainable which happened in the blink of an eye & still no further information has been found. Hi from Western Australia.
My understanding was the dogs DID pick up a scent. The scent took the dogs to the base of the clingmans dome tower thus giving some the theory that perhaps she was being held against her will under the tower.
Hey! Thanks for watching! The dogs did not pick up a scent from where she left the traiI. But I did read in one article that they used the dogs up around the parking lot and and hit on a scent 1.6 miles down the paved road heading back towards Newfound Gap This made no sense to me or any of the searchers, because all the eye witnesses saw her leave the trail about 1/2 a mile from the parking lot in a very rugged area. The dogs picked up no scent from there. That was crazy. To make it 1.6 miles down the road she would have had to be Superwoman and walk through some very rough terrain to get back on the paved road. This case really is a head Scratcher, and I just hate it for her family.
That's what I've always read, too. Also re the video, I don't think they know she headed off into the woods. One student said Trenny crouched down, looked to the right, and then stepped off the trail to the right. They didn't see her again but thought she had gone on to the parking lot and expected to see her there. If that's so, we don't know she headed off into the woods.
I would like to make the hike. I live in Tennessee. How far is the hike from CD to Andrews bald. And how do I find the exact spot Trenny walked off the trail? Thanks for your video

In another story I read they said no one checked the dome itself. Also stated someone could have been holding her up there and then left after the search parties had left.
Thanks for Watching! Why did she leave the trail? If you have ever been to that area. It would take an incredible effort to get from where she left the trail to Clingman's Dome. @@FrontiersmanAdventures there is something weird about me that attracts things like that, for instance I was at a campground once and there were a bunch of people around all at different tables, and this man got off his bicycle and ran toward me like he was going to attack me he had some sort of a small bat like a tire thumper, I'm a truck driver so that's what I think it was it looked just like a tire thumper, so some people from the neighboring table ran over to where I was and told the guy to get lost, I think he was crazy or something but it was like 50 people out there that day and he zeroed in on me, I'm trying to figure out when she went missing like the most exact time of day that I can find so that I could do an astrological analysis, my dad thought that she wandered off the trail to go to the bathroom because they were probably no bathrooms around, and he thinks that she fell into some sort of fissure or pit and broke her neck, which would explain why there wouldn't be any trace of her clothing or a scream or anything, there can be fissures and sinkholes just about anywhere up there, I stepped into a fissure once that came up to my waist we were in the ekaneetlee manway area, my dad felt like if it was a wild boar or a bear they would have been screams, torn clothing, camon mater laying around in the area, and they never found any such thing, and whatever she fell in to, if that's what happened, I guess they never found that either, the dogs did track her, but I don't think it was right near where she was last seen, I believe it was in the clingmans dome area, and the intersection where the AT meets another trail that she was on, my second cousin's Dwight McCarter was a park ranger at the time, and was involved in the searches, if he still living he's probably in his eighties by now, from this article it looks like she went missing between 12:30 and 3:30 pm, in another article there is a suspect, there is an artist's sketch of him and the article, he looks like a guy in his early thirties, wearing a ball cap I think the article said that he left some cigarette butts in the area, and a drink can, but there was no DNA testing back then so I don't know if they collected that evidence, he was in the clingmans dome area, and the dogs tracked her to the clingmans dome area, I think people just described him as suspicious, not sure why crochetbug.medium.com/whatever-became-of-trenny-gibson-a25d6611b649
Mysterious cold case & I wonder why they gave up searching after 4 days. Wonder what she leaned over to look at & maybe someone lured her into the woods. Excellent storytelling with the details and the scenery is beautiful. Eat some bean nachos. 🦬
I seriously doubt someone would have lured her into the woods. Those woods were so thick. Who knows? The world is full of crazy stuff. Thank You so much for the nice comments as always! Bison tacos....sound delicious! Usually when I order a Nacho Bell Grande from Taco Bell, I tell them to hold the beans!!! 😅😃 I actually like beans, but they seriously cause inflammation, leaky gut, and all kinds of problems, so I quit eating them except when I make an occasional chili. Anything the government says you should eat, completely reverse that. The food pyramid is a farce and should be completely turned upside down. Except add Whiskey!!! Haha! (That is just me!) As far as the search, I think they gave up, because it got so cold. They had horrible cold weather in the area. Not safe for searchers. They did resume a couple of other times, but have never found a single trace of Trenny. The Smoke Mountains are so vast, and the woods are so thick. There are thousands of species of plants that can only be found in the The Great Smoky Mountains. It creates its own atmosphere. Why wasn't this girl pressed and pressed for the donor and arrested as an accessory to murder if needed to force her to talk. Find the donor and it would seem that you have found the answer, but they just let it go. I don't get it.
When she stooped down to look at something, she must have got up and walked into the woods a bit to see what it was. Maybe it was a bad guy. Who knows, this is one of those frustrating stories. I can’t imagine what the parents have been through.
Yes, it is a mystery and I cannot imagine what the parents went through. But in the case of Dennis Martin, Polly Melton, and Trenny. They were all 3 separated from the group of people they were with. Polly would never have ventured into the woods alone, and what would have drawn Trenny to step off a trail into very rough terrain. What could have picked Dennis Martin up and carried him away so quietly and quickly? In my opinion, in all three cases, I feel it was not people that caused their disappearance.
@@FrontiersmanAdventures I've heard about her story awhile back, but is the first vid I've seen that actually retraced her steps . Has the trail changed much since her disappearance?

Bogeymen and bigfoot make for good stories. The truth of this case and Dennis Martin are probably the same. Lost or injured in vast forest and perished. Sad but true.

I agree. It is so crazy. If it was a bear, or a human - I seriously doubt a 16 year old high school student would have left the trail? Why would she do this? The search crew never found one single trace of her. It reminds me of a young man, Terrence, who was was one of the film crew members for the show Gold Rush. Anyway, he was standing at the top of a hill with other crew members, when suddenly, he drops his radio and runs down this steep hill as fast as he could and straight into the wilderness. He was never seen again. Crazy! He was considered to be a good employee, and the guys on the crew said there were no issues. Two private investigators were hired by Terrence's family - and they found nothing; No reason for this happening. This baffles me, as does Trenny's case. I appreciate you so much Bill! Thanks for all of your continued support!
I do find it highly questionable why the teacher took the kids there, one because of Trenny's foot and two why did teacher want it kept a secret? That's just creepy as creepy gets. Has the teacher any sex offenses since then? Did he have a buddy up there waiting to snatch her? It wasn't classmates or her body would've been found, they wouldn't have the skills to hide her and cover scent etc. Same with a wild animal. So i do think a person with a bunker out there took her. There was a particular case of a pedophile who had a bunker and managed to trick the police and dogs and heat radar. The girl was rescued eventually thanks to herself.
Sounds to me like An AT cereal killer either on the road or on the trail. Can't see how any students or the teacher were involved. Of course it's possible she wandered off and got lost.
@@lucianas4919 The case of Polly Melton is even scarier. She got ahead of her girlfriends on a trail in the Smokies and went over top of a hill. When the other women topped the hill, Polly was gone, never to be seen again, alive or dead. Forget the theory of a secret boyfriend who picked her up. Nobody heard a motor. TOTAL ELAPSED TIME: TWO MINUTES OR LESS.

@FrontiersmanAdventures ah, I see. So, so strange. Something had to be there for her to walk off trail as she did... and wasn't threatening, either. Something that had to be strong enough to silence her quickly and carry her with good speed and stamina. I can't think of any other scenario that fits the situation and witnesses accounts. How could they all be lying, and that organized?
My thoughts are her father took a contract out on her for seeing Kevin, as her parents were strictly religious and frankly very raciest. That was per her sister Tina. That was told to Trinnys locker-mate, who told me. I have always thought that this case would never be solved because they always looked at the wrong people…. LOOK AT THE PARENTS.

there is something weird about me that attracts things like that, for instance I was at a campground once and there were a bunch of people around all at different tables, and this man got off his bicycle and ran toward me like he was going to attack me he had some sort of a small bat like a tire thumper, I'm a truck driver so that's what I think it was it looked just like a tire thumper, so some people from the neighboring table ran over to where I was and told the guy to get lost, I think he was crazy or something but it was like 50 people out there that day and he zeroed in on me, I'm trying to figure out when she went missing like the most exact time of day that I can find so that I could do an astrological analysis, my dad thought that she wandered off the trail to go to the bathroom because they were probably no bathrooms around, and he thinks that she fell into some sort of fissure or pit and broke her neck, which would explain why there wouldn't be any trace of her clothing or a scream or anything, there can be fissures and sinkholes just about anywhere up there, I stepped into a fissure once that came up to my waist we were in the ekaneetlee manway area, my dad felt like if it was a wild boar or a bear they would have been screams, torn clothing, camon mater laying around in the area, and they never found any such thing, and whatever she fell in to, if that's what happened, I guess they never found that either, the dogs did track her, but I don't think it was right near where she was last seen, I believe it was in the clingmans dome area, and the intersection where the AT meets another trail that she was on, my second cousin's Dwight McCarter was a park ranger at the time, and was involved in the searches, if he still living he's probably in his eighties by now, from this article it looks like she went missing between 12:30 and 3:30 pm, in another article there is a suspect, there is an artist's sketch of him and the article, he looks like a guy in his early thirties, wearing a ball cap I think the article said that he left some cigarette butts in the area, and a drink can, but there was no DNA testing back then so I don't know if they collected that evidence, he was in the clingmans dome area, and the dogs tracked her to the clingmans dome area, I think people just described him as suspicious, not sure why

@Forensic Astrology I wish you the best, and hope you can get to the bottom of the case.
It can be completely sunny in Gatlinburg, and yet have snow in the Mountains!
@@FrontiersmanAdventures so many questions, when I read about the missing. You’re funny about the beans😆. I eat lots of grains & turkey. What about eggs? I try to eat 2 a week for protein. Hope y’all are doing great. My moms name was Triene, so i perked up, when I heard your subjects name. How many forest rangers in this area?
@@texadonkey34 - Yes, I agree. There are so many things that go unanswered. I admit, I am funny/and silly, but beans are not, watch this: ruclips.net/video/9Ess64iAgCM/видео.html I love eggs. I eat at least 3 or 4 eggs every day. Eggs are one of the best sources of fat, and protein. I do not know the exact number of forest rangers. The Smoky Mountains get over 12 million visitors every year. It is the most visited National Park in the US. Zion and Yellowstone get around 5 million per year. Thanks for always asking the best questions!! We missed you in the live!!
@@FrontiersmanAdventures NO!😜. I’m watching Waking Up In Reno, funniest movie ever. I recommend it. 👍
Good morning Walt & Tina, it's a good thing I just woke up or I might not be able to go to sleep after this. LOL LOL
Good Morning Bill! Yes, this is a kind of disturbing story. I hate when young people go missing.
Good morning, Bill! Hope you are having a blessed weekend!
Did you ever discover the source of the heavy foot steps?
No...I stood there for a while. Just listening, and looking into the forest, but saw nothing. Gotta love the smokies
@@FrontiersmanAdventures Strange. Thank you.
@dennisstamey3915 yes, indeed
Wow what a interesting story but did you ever find out what that noise was in the woods that was real strange I even heard it.
No, it was very strange. When I stopped walking, so did it. It was a bit creepy, but I didn't see anything
How can a teacher just decide to take a field trip??? I know things have changed a lot and I was born in 1970 but for as long as I can remember I always had to have a permission slip to go anywhere?!?!
@@priscillatatum1283 The kids and parents knew they were taking a trip, but the teacher wanted to surprise them with the location.
The story the kids told, compared to where she was last seen doesn’t seem to make sense compared to where the dogs tracked her scent.
Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment!
There are several stories of people falling in holes in the woods. Or they find sinkholes. That would be so horrific.
That would be horrible for sure
Sad story.
Yes, and she was like our age. Thanks Jennetta
I just don't understand how this sad case went cold when her jewelry ended up with another classmate who refused to say who gave it to her! Why wasn't this girl pressed and pressed for the donor and arrested as an accessory to murder if needed to force her to talk. Find the donor and it would seem that you have found the answer, but they just let it go. I don't get it.
Thanks for watching. I have no clue.
Is it poaaible that they walk right into a cave hole that colapses in amd no one sees them cause its cover by thick brush?
The dogs could track that, and the searchers would probably notice the disturbed land.
Where exactly, on the trail was she last seen?
About 1/2 mile from the end of the trail. A very heavily wooded rocky area that led away from the road and down the mountain.
@@FrontiersmanAdventures enjoyed your video. It's really interesting to see where it happened.
@@lost_highway_guy - Yes, and it was sad and surreal being there and telling the story.

@@FrontiersmanAdventures I've heard about her story awhile back, but is the first vid I've seen that actually retraced her steps .
Has the trail changed much since her disappearance?
This is a very Strange story that has a lot of twists and turns. Also another really story is that of Dennis martin.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I did a video on Dennis Martin ruclips.net/video/X3V8cMeHKNc/видео.htmlsi=wCRoG5ShSAZdaibf
There is another RUclipsr who has featured many of these missing people and he himseif does federal information request ect. He has much more info than many others. He claims that there was no Robert Simpson and he isnt even in the yearbook. Is that true?
Who is the other RUclipsr?

Former California Detective, and the author and founder of Missing 411, David Paulides, includes testimony from Robert Simpson in his book. I'll go with what David Paulides says 99.9% of the time.
@@FrontiersmanAdventures I understand what you're saying but seems something like this would be very easy to find out if he was a student at that school. Thanks for the feedback
Actually the dogs did pick up the scent. Followed it to a road where it ended.
That is not exactly right. Dogs picked up a scent 1/4 of a mile from the parking lot. It lead nowhere, and came from nowhere.
Great video on this story.
Thank you so much!
Bogeymen and bigfoot make for good stories. The truth of this case and Dennis Martin are probably the same. Lost or injured in vast forest and perished. Sad but true.
I find that statement to be so ridiculous, it is laughable
I’m getting the feeling that you think Bigfoot might be involved?
Something had to pick her up and carry her off. No animal could do that without making a scene. I'm not sure what happened.
@@FrontiersmanAdventures Have you ever been to the PNW? Bigfoot is a huge part of the culture. It’s fascinating. I grew up in KY & Dogman was the creature of our nightmares. He wasn’t as nice as Bigfoot.
I've heard a lot about Dogmen, and my wife and I may have encountered one in the Smoky Mountains one time, but I cannot be 100% sure. I have been to Willow Creek, California and I actually saw a Bigfoot. I did a video of the incident. ruclips.net/video/zjNQQuDqlGk/видео.htmlsi=Xx9c8lOSdKC9kWvB
@@aliciamarie9704 - I'm glad you found my channel
Now on the serious side it really angers me when children can't be safe from two legged animals.
Did she get lost in the smokey mountains
@@IcedCoffeeLover33 - I suppose
@@FrontiersmanAdventures did she get kidnapped or something
@@IcedCoffeeLover33 only God knows
@@FrontiersmanAdventures okay
I do find it highly questionable why the teacher took the kids there, one because of Trenny's foot and two why did teacher want it kept a secret? That's just creepy as creepy gets. Has the teacher any sex offenses since then? Did he have a buddy up there waiting to snatch her? It wasn't classmates or her body would've been found, they wouldn't have the skills to hide her and cover scent etc. Same with a wild animal. So i do think a person with a bunker out there took her. There was a particular case of a pedophile who had a bunker and managed to trick the police and dogs and heat radar. The girl was rescued eventually thanks to herself.
thanks for sharing that info
What happened to trenny
@@IcedCoffeeLover33 - Only God knows
@@FrontiersmanAdventures oh
Two more things are seems like it happens - 1) about Feral people or Bigfoot. 2) Bad weather sets in - just after a person goes missing.
Yes...Absolutely! I think David Paulides deserves all the credit in the World, for doing tons of research
Sounds to me like An AT cereal killer either on the road or on the trail. Can't see how any students or the teacher were involved. Of course it's possible she wandered off and got lost.
Thanks so much for watching. Why would a young girl with her friends around leave the trail? It is a strange case.
I actually think that it is possible a student was involved. Have you listened to the podcast Missing? They cover this case in a number of videos.
@@TomHoffman-uw7pf I have heard of the Polly Melton case. It is quite frightening. In terms of Trenny’s case, I am not referring to a secret boyfriend. I am referring to what has been discussed on the episodes of the podcast Missing.
I heard that the dogs caught a scent and lost it at a road. Or I'm remembering a different person
@cassandraotroy6325 yeah, they supposedly picked up a scent but it came from nowhere and led to nowhere. So, I disregarded it.
@@cassandraotroy6325 - Thanks so much for your insightful comments. Have a great week

@@MrSoldierperson FALSE! Try again
Interesting. I had not heard anything like that in all of my readings. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@FrontiersmanAdventures Mostly because the shabby police work. From 1976-1982 crime and bad police work were ramped in Knoxville. Because the Sheriff at the time Joe Jenkins was very corrupt and allowed local king pin Don Walker and business man Jake Butcher to turn Knoxville into a lawless city. I feel if we had a decent police force back in ‘76, it would have been solved with the year. We will never know now, and that’s the sad part
