I’ve hiked alone in so many state and national parks. Almost died in Arches, long story, but had nothing to do with the park. Just the people I met on a trail. Not only should people never hike alone, also never trust strangers you meet when you’re out there. Especially if they offer you food or drink. Be very careful. Few live to tell about their ordeal. I’m one of the lucky few.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist per se; but, I lean toward your warning about people being the threat. Nowadays, too many people are more interested in making money at any cost than being decent human beings. I DO believe that many of these people, especially the younger, healthier ones, are being kidnapped for nefarious reasons.

Hi Rusty and fellow followers. I find it particularly interesting that the FBI was called in when Barry went missing in Glacier National Park. There have been an incredible amount of people that have gone missing in that particular park. I wonder what the FBI knows that we don't. It's possible that multiple things could be responsible for these incidents For instance, i know this so called "explanation" that these are the work of satanists or a satanic cult has been tossed around. Olympic NP in particular has had witnesses to strange gatherings if hooded figures and other evidence of satanic cult activity. Unweaving the mystery is going to be difficuy

Aloha Rusty! As I was looking for updates on Julian Sands, I saw that on Sunday yet another hiker went missing in the same area as Julian Sands. A 75 year old man named Jin Chung arrived with two friends at 6 a.m. to the hiking area on Sunday morning. Upon arrival, he separated from them & they agreed to meet there back at the car at 2 p.m. Mr. Chung did not show up at the meeting time, and they have not heard from him. I hope they are recovered soon & are o.k. 🙏 The Sheriff's office is warming people to stay away from the Mt. Baldy area, as there are high wind warnings.

I firmly believe there is more going on than what our government is telling the American public. We have the right to know to at least avoid certain areas, & try to protect our loved ones! Why the cover up? Why are park rangers & law enforcement personnel threatened to keep their mouths shut? Or, told they will lose their jobs. Sometimes, even worse than that!

One thing stuck out to me about that story was his friends saying he was in great shape, not going to matter if you get hit with a flash flood or sudden blizzard. Rusty, I thank you for the wonderful footage of some of my most favorite trails! Love your commentary. Thank you! ! I also wonder, what is going on in Yosemite? I have camped, hiked and spent time there over the years. I do remember something suspicious on trail when day hiking solo, coming about a bend , down the mountain, there was a bright yellow and blue backpack sitting on top of a rocky outcrop, not far from the trail, however, it felt to me it had been placed there like bait. This was in 2010 or 11. There had been few others on trail that afternoon. I did call out a greeting, but no answer, and the forrest was unusually quiet. For some reason, the hair stood up on the back of my neck and trusting my instinct , I ran the entire length of the trail back to the valley floor. I've never spoken about it before, but did happen. I've been hiking the Pacific Northwest all my life, and have had some interesting encounters. But this felt different. Contrived. Makes me wonder, what is going on in Yosemite?

I have never hiked those trails in the winter, but with ice on the trail, they would be extremely dangerous, especially if you don't have the right equipment or experience. Specifically the trail called "Devils Backbone". It is right above Baldy Bowl. If you slide off the trail its a long ways down, with lots of jagged rocks to hit on the way down.

I was back country camping in the Shenandoah Mountains National Park (Virginia) in the early 80's with my brother. Early in the morning I heard something walking in the woods not far away and was cracking some really big branches as you can tell by the loud cracks it made. My brother in the other tent, heard the same thing. Whatever it was, was walking closer and closer to my tent, where eventually it was right outside my tent making these grunting and growling noises. I told my brother it was right outside my tent, not but a couple feet from my face where I was sitting. Then, James suddenly yelled out...."I have a gun and I will shoot you!!" Just then, whatever it was started backing up away from me thank God. As we compared notes later, we both thought it odd that it seemed that it was walking on two feet, as we knew the sounds of wildlife when they walk through the woods and it wasn't a bear or a dear, etc. To this day, we will never know. But whatever it was responded to my brothers hi pitched voice and then walked away, or it understood English. Who knows. To this day, I don't think I would be here telling this story, if my brother hadn't been with me. I haven't back country camped since that day. Listen to this man's intelligent advice. A lot of people disappear in National Forests and National Parks who are on their own or get separated from their friends

That experience would change a persons mind to hike or camp alone, still why do people do it then their gone with out a trace, thank god for your brother, I'd never ever SLP in a tent,no protection there from any animals omy

Great that you put photos of people first and then photos of park's name. And great you made the breaks between cases longer. 👏 Your reading is good, incl
    its speed (tempo)
I would recommend to work on the melody, the first half sounds sometimes kind of robotic. Then you became more natural in reading. That is my impression. :) I like your videos and wish you the best.

You can’t go out into that vastness ..someone ,or something is waiting for you to just dare do it…but don’t do it.
It will get you, n you only…cos all that matters out there is you at the time.
Thanks rusty ..will never get tired of that music..it evokes the sadness of all thoses poor souls that didn’t stand a chance.
If it is a person that’s doing it ..then they will be judged by a realm far higher n greater then them..and it will hurt when he catches up with them..God sees everything.

I live in the city below Mount Baldy. The weather here for the past six weeks has been crazy winds, unpredictable rain, and cold overnight. We went to Baldy Village (almost 4,200 feet) in November: There were patches of snow and it was cool and dry, the kind of day where one might forget to stay hydrated or not have adequate gear for the late afternoon temperature drops. As I have gotten older, staying warm is more of a challenge.

The problem with taking this line of thinking is - you could become the next missing person. The choice is yours. We all have to reconsider things we like to do. Especially as we get older. I liked to mountaineer in my 20’s & 30’s. Gave it up after a trip to Snowdonia in North Wales when bad weather came in very suddenly & rapidly. I may well have been a statistic from that, & that was 25 years ago.
      Use your common sense.

That desert out near Barstow/Victorville is too disorienting. Every time I go out there, or to Joshua Tree, I am reminded of how easy it would be to go off trail and get hopelessly lost.
