From what I've heard, Kawass had phone calls with Garcia for Garcia to testify that she (Katherine) had nothing to do with it. The phone calls were recorded and the state got hold of it and was going to use it in court, so ruined their plans. If that's true, it makes qt least a little sense that Katherine was completely unprepared to testify. She still should never have taken the stand, though.

I decided to listen to the defense’s closing with an open mind. However, as she tries to tear apart the state’s evidence, she only succeeds in bringing up more questions. Regarding the police not contacting ALL the people on Katie’s phone contact list, that means they were wearing blinders and only had certain people as targets. Well, of course. The police aren’t going to contact people who have nothing pointing to them. They contacted people who had evidence pointing to them. If you looked at my phone contacts, are you going to call my hairdresser? My optician? My doctor - all of whom I had made appointments with? That hardly sounds like efficient police work. Same with the money. They didn’t contact her mother because they knew she wasn’t involved. A defence based on only the state’s evidence and no new evidence produced by the defence to refute it leaves me thinking K is guilty. There is nothing here to convince me otherwise. And she sounds so damn angry. it’s a bit weak that your only defence is that EVERYBODY involved in the investigation were corrupt and determined to convict an innocent person. That’s just so lame.
Katie is definitely guilty, but I think the defense did well with the little she had. Still, circumstantial evidence is as good as direct. Katie should’ve taken the full immunity deal. The defense’s closing kept my interest, and I haven’t heard the rebuttal, but it made me really want to hear it.
The prosecutor knows she's got enough evidence and doesn't need to do any theatrics to convince the jury. And at the verdict the prosecution didn't smirk, gloat,get animated, they just got up, briefly hugged Dan Markel's familjy & walked out, knowing they'd done their jobs well, like professionals do.. Brilliantly done.👍 Can't wait for the next ones, so the Markel parents & the children will get full justice for their son & father . 🙏

It is suspected that Adelsons paid for these defense lawyers. Georgia brings it up in Charlie’s trial. I believe they reached out to Katie’s brother. I don’t think the defense lawyer cares. Their main job is to make sure their clients get due process and a fair trial. I think that the defense lawyer likely thought that Katie was a greedy dumbass when the prosecutor offered her FULL immunity, but she rolled the dice and took it to trial. Some people suspect that maybe the Adelsons encouraged her not to take the immunity because the evidence is circumstantial and maybe promised her money, etc. The defense lawyer did well with the shitty case she had. Lol.
I believe Kawass knew Katie was guilty. She should have worked a plea deal with the State. She could have helped get justice for Dan Markel and his family by having Katie tell the truth back when Katie was charged and was offered immunity to tell the truth. She’s an awful Attorney.

From what I've heard, Kawass had phone calls with Garcia for Garcia to testify that she (Katherine) had nothing to do with it. The phone calls were recorded and the state got hold of it and was going to use it in court, so ruined their plans. If that's true, it makes qt least a little sense that Katherine was completely unprepared to testify. She still should never have taken the stand, though.

I decided to listen to the defense’s closing with an open mind. However, as she tries to tear apart the state’s evidence, she only succeeds in bringing up more questions. Regarding the police not contacting ALL the people on Katie’s phone contact list, that means they were wearing blinders and only had certain people as targets. Well, of course. The police aren’t going to contact people who have nothing pointing to them. They contacted people who had evidence pointing to them. If you looked at my phone contacts, are you going to call my hairdresser? My optician? My doctor - all of whom I had made appointments with? That hardly sounds like efficient police work. Same with the money. They didn’t contact her mother because they knew she wasn’t involved. A defence based on only the state’s evidence and no new evidence produced by the defence to refute it leaves me thinking K is guilty. There is nothing here to convince me otherwise. And she sounds so damn angry. it’s a bit weak that your only defence is that EVERYBODY involved in the investigation were corrupt and determined to convict an innocent person. That’s just so lame.
Katie is definitely guilty, but I think the defense did well with the little she had. Still, circumstantial evidence is as good as direct. Katie should’ve taken the full immunity deal.

It is suspected that Adelsons paid for these defense lawyers. Georgia brings it up in Charlie’s trial. I believe they reached out to Katie’s brother. I don’t think the defense lawyer cares. Their main job is to make sure their clients get due process and a fair trial. I think that the defense lawyer likely thought that Katie was a greedy dumbass when the prosecutor offered her FULL immunity, but she rolled the dice and took it to trial. Some people suspect that maybe the Adelsons encouraged her not to take the immunity because the evidence is circumstantial and maybe promised her money, etc. The defense lawyer did well with the shitty case she had. Lol.
