The irony of distilling this information into a piece of content is not lost on me. I truly believe in everything I said in this video and this is the best way to get the idea to reach those who need it the most. Sincerely wishing you the best of luck on your journey. I love you.
In all honesty, I am surprised why anyone would think his reasoning for not having a smartphone is anything other than the exact reason he has. It's all so obvious. Just as we shouldn't shame someone for abstaining from something like smartphones, we shouldn't shame those who embrace it. I fall somewhere in the middle. In many aspects of my life, I hate social media and do not partake. In others, I love how easy it is to type or record my thoughts straight into something I hold in my hand at the blink of an eye. Lastly, is this all AI art, or is there an (or several) actual artist for all these images?
I'm so glad that there are still People like me who refuse to live in alternate worlds instead of where they are and should be. I do not consider not using a smartphone (aside from one at home just to pay the monthly bills) as a sacrifice, nor is it a sacrifice to write in my Moleskin (previously used a much better and cheaper brand from India no longer available in Europe) instead of on a headache and distraction (brain destruction) inducing device. Sure, I have a lot of "desktops", but my lap remains free for its intended purpose.
Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti ... Oh I've seen smart phones make people dumb by robbing them of their precious time. Like Philip K. Dick said in A Scanner Darkly, 'we played when we should've toiled.' That's why I hang on to my flip phone with its front and back metal covers. Had it for years and I still love it. I don't know what I'll do when the buttons stop working. But what I'd say to Christopher Nolan is ... smashing.
Here in Austria they now will turn off 3G so i have to get a new phone finally after i got it in 2008. But i will not get a smart phone, that much i know.
@@lowandodor1150 What angers me is being forced to buy a new product so as not to get left behind. I never had to upgrade a landline phone which ironically is the only means of communication if the cell towers aren't working.
@@1600SkidRowAvenue Oh 100%! I would not mind still using a landline, all the other stuff is just gimmicks really. Practical, for sure. But come on, we did perfectly fine without yapping constantly. i am now forced to buy a new phone, they just do not support the 3G system any longer after this year. Not that anyone calls be, but you still need a damn phone. I love watching movie and tv series from the 70s and 80s and to see how even cops for instance had to ask other people if they could use their phone for a moment, is quite eye opening. I remember, in our home in the early 80s, we still shared one line with 3 other families in the house! So you had to check if someone else wasn't on the phone first, then and only then you would get a free signal, haha! So that is a bit ancient perhaps, but a simple landline would be perfectly fine for me.
Critiques a guy who couldnt even write a short story. Says story's shit, rather his perception is of the lowest level it could stoop to. And i agree that with his brother he could have made scripts that are another style. And if brother were the main ingredient watch westworld, his storytelling is completely done. Better not critique uselessly, everyone doesnt deserve it. Go and watch youtube thats your everyday routine while nolan without giving a rats ass about your comment will create another cinematic experience.

I found myself in an awkward position whilst agreeing with everything and yet doing 10 different things at the same time 😂
Nolan is our generations Kubrick!
its not about being easily distracted its about the phone being designed to distract

Outstanding video essay!
Yeah boredom gives rises to most of great Things.

The picture is inaccurate because Christopher Nolan is left handed.

"the cinematic masterpieces we..." .... shows a truck flipping over.
Brilliant use of ethical sourcing in the description.
Oh this is gonna be great.
In my opinion, I believe Nolan is giving us the gift of boredom through his films
The historical luddites were never anti-technology in general, always anti very specific technologies.
I have a problem
I don't care much for his movies, but I agree with him 100% on this particular matter. Long live the nu flesh.
because he doesn't wan't to be distracted. there. no need for a 15 minutes of mumbo jumbo.
what and amazing video btw
The prose is too purple. Just talk.
(great video) i need help
It's distracting. No need for this video.
Nah, the genius is his brother Jonah… ever since he stopped writing the screenplays for Chris Nolan the movies got shit
I was thinking the same thing!
