Ambient playing in C is so calming. These beautiful sounds seem to help open up our hearts when we worship together. IU have noticed that open C always seems to be used in services. I don"t think it's nesesarily deliberatly done at 528hz most of the time and it is played that way because it sounds good and calming. There is somethng about 528hz that is very calming and many bands over the years tunes their instruments to this tuning. It's also the same hsulgfeggio harmonic that monks chant to when they say OOOHHHMMMM. Perhaps there is something to this sound but the real power is in Jesus Christ. Worship is something amazing all on it's own. To be able to sing is praises and bask in the Holy Spirit when we worship togeher is my favorite part of the sevices.
I have wanted to know what this sound is in worship music for so, so very long. I am now motivated to learn to play the piano/keyboard. I absolutely love worship music! I was crying and worshipping while you played & taught this lesson! WOW! An excellent presentation and anointed teacher. Thank you so very much... bless you!
I'm leading a "keyboard workshop" for the 6 keyboard players on our worship team this Sunday after service. All of us are classically trained, and haven't had much guidance on playing in the context of church worship. This video has been an incredible help and resource - very excited to share this with our team! Thank you so much for your time, effort, and heart in putting all your videos together. Praise God!
Thank you for this wonderful advice brother. This helped me a lot, i'm a keyboardist in our church recently and I'm just a product of self-teaching. This greatly opened my eyes that my role is to support not to gain attention to the congregation. God Bless you!
Thank-you! this was very helpful to me as a beginner. I'm wanting to learn this type of spontaneous playing as the worship leader so we can begin having some live instruments.
I'm glad it was helpful. Usually finding a pad sound is simply a matter of going through the sounds on your keyboard and choosing one. If you don't have one, you need a different keyboard, either one that can mix a pad in with piano sound, or one that you can connect via MIDI cable.
This clip is very helpful to me, Thank you very much. I'm not good in this (Keyboard & Piano skill) but I know GOD calling me for this and I really love and learn to do this.
I am a new player only been playing for about 10 months and can basically do chords...this is so helpful to learn because it is distracting to play a song when an altar call is made or in between services during church. I just need to learn better key/chord progressions to use for this. Praise God!!!!
OurWorshipSound thank you so much!! What type of keyboard are you using in this video? All I have is a RadioShack MD-1700 Synthesizer but the AC port doesn't work so it eats batteries like nothing lol
i really love all what u're teaching. though I am brand new in piano, btw I learned in the age 41, and it's been a year that I play piano. Now I am 42. and God Jesus has given me the ability to play the piano in that age. Amen. And I really want to play like you. Jesus bless you Peter.
Thank you for sharing this video. We should praise God through playing music that will glorify God and not to distract people to worship but to bridge people to worship God even more.
@mja323 Gotcha - I guess you have to spend a certain amount to get that specific functionality. For used options, I would recommend 1) the keyboard I use at home - Yamaha S80 - very solid keys and has held up amazingly well over about 12 years. I have a grand piano expansion card installed - the stock piano sounds are just OK. I would also recommend 2) the keyboard I use at my church - Roland A90. It has some very powerful and easy-to-use control features. Check Ebay for those. Hope this helps!
Hi Peter. I've found this channel by accident last night. The way you explain made it so clear that got my attention. I've watched some of the videos and tried your lessons in this morning service... I can tell that I felt a huge difference! I was able to produce a soaking background as I always wanted to. May God bless you for your initiative and long live to this channel!
Good advice bro!....Its true..There are far too many church keyboardists who are just a bunch of 'showboats' who instead of support, they basically having their own concert in their own corner...playing complex phat chordal progressions...soloing,shedding,just to draw attention to themselves & totally disconnected from the flow of the holy spirit..which is annoyingly distracting.
One way to not distract is to play an old communion or reflective hymn that contemporary congregations are not likely to know or old organ music with long sustained chords.
I did not think this could b found in youtube. At 60 and learning...very much appreciate this, your explanation with the calm tone helps. Music is powerful, too powerful that sometimes makes me blue....not sure why.
I love these tutorials, but I wish there were just videos of people playing these for a long time, like a demo. I love listening to these cool simple progressions.
I'm so new in this, just learn to play keyboard about few weeks. This video help A LOT!... Thank you so much. luv it... givin' me a lot of idea & tricks... thanks again.
The sounds are coming from the keyboard (out through my speakers and into the computer mic). The piano sounds are from the Yamaha grand piano expansion card.
thanks for the lesson, kind sir.. thanks for being you.. thanks for learning music.. just, thanks.. this video gives me courage to start playing again..
iam an amateur musician, and really loves this kind of music.. what do you call it.. maybe something with ambient, pads, delay guitar, simple note.. and how do you play such a good tone (or voice or chord or background) with a simple chords? and that "not too many" note that you played with your right hands, gets me everytime.. how did you do that?
I agree with each and every thing you said, our music is supposed to create a worship environment not get attention to ourselves that hey, I play so cool. Listen to these pads like so CoooOOoooLll!

LOL. Just spent 45 minutes at my local Guitar Center checking out the current models that have sliders like your S80. Let me know if you recommend any used models that are out there as well. Thanks again. Matt
