The Royal family literally has no power. They are just figureheads who attract tourism and cut ribbons and make speeches every now and again. The last time a monarch rejected a law was in 1707, before george washington was even born.
You wish you were just paying for their welfare checks! Down South! They put any person under the poverty on the welfare rolls. However, most of the folks on the rolls never apply or get the supposed aid! In fact few of them know about it until they apply for a government job, file their taxes or work in a social service job! Then the state has to pay all that money back to the federal government!

The constitution is the law of the land, it's what was designed to keep the government from growing too powerful. If your British you don't have such protections.
