I bought a new tata harrier last month. I choose harrier over safari. Because I felt harrier looks better. Specially the white with black roof dual tone is a stunner. Other reasons were I don't need 7 seats & white interiors of safari are criminal in india. Also the harrier being lighter & smaller has slightly better fuel economy & performance
Harrier is the one which I will be washing very soon as my brother is getting one

I have currently booked the Tata Harrier XZA+. 7 Seats are not my requirement but second row recline adjustment can be a useful feature.
Would you still recommend the Safari over harrier? Considering the other added features that Safari is offering. Is it worth paying the extra 1.6/1.8 lakhs (on-road difference).
My biggest concern is the added weight and dimension change. How does it affect the driving dynamics when compared to the harrier. For instance, does this cause lower end lag and Body roll?

Our family needs a new SUV, feeling scared to pull a trigger on Safari, because of our past experiences on Mahindra / Tata. Mahindra however was bit better.

Tata cars are not the same anymore. They are lot more better. In fact almost no competition now. I am driving the Harrier for a while. No complains at all. Had it been few yrs ago, tata would never be the choice. But NOW, go for TATA. Harrrier if you don't want 7 seats and want a big boot space.
The Harrier looks more appealing to me.
When in late 20s and in 30s buy Harrier and when in 40s buy Safari 😃

Old tata safari had its own iconic look🔥 which is now gone.. Though the front design which is same as harrier is great but considering the history of safari and its features tata didn't gave safari its own characteristic look or even a modified version of old one which could bi so good if implemented . now its a like harrier pro or plus version model.. ( hyundai also did that in case of alcazar )

Safari is indeed a better package and totally worth paying the extra money. The only thing missing is it lacks a load cover which is key in keeping your valuable safe from prying eyes. Its one option where the boot tray on Harrier will work well in hiding stuff locked in boot.

The automatic harrier xza+ variant price seems wrong. It should be 20.25 instead of 19.25 lakh. Btw enjoying the harrier past 2 months 6000 kms and your reviews played a major part in the purchasing decision.

I think it was rear wheel drive with 400Nm torque was good that demand for 4WD was low. But now it's doenpowered n fwd is not expected from a true suv. It's now a styled mpv.

the only reason why I would prefer 7 seater is because it gives the middle row option to adjust seat and recline. having said this i wonder why most 5 seater SUV could not provide this flexibility to the middle seat. only a few cars such as tuscon, vw does this.

I don't think a AWD or 4x4 is needed, but I think Safari should come with RWD architecture. That will be better for long rides.

.. people crying about not being 4x 4. They would not have bought a safari. like the old version people have not bought much number of safaris. This is a good move by tata at an affordable rate. I would definitely buy safari being a 7 seater at that rate.

The previous generation Safari owners are from the previous generation as well. Current generation wants to Leh, Ladakh road trips on their Safaris and many more unexplored places which requires 4×4, so many people would have bought it like Thar.
There’s a mistake. Harrier XZA+ at 19.25 ex showroom? I think it’s 20.25 lakh. And the Safari exactly a lakh more.

Steering is not light at all. Its heavy both at slow speed and highway speed. Your car might be different form majority. 🐴
Have you driven in the mountains of northeast during rainy season without a 4WD. 4WD is a must in the mountains of northeast for drivers who likes adventure.
Please tell Tata and Mahindra to reduce the prices and CC on these cars. Indians want to buy, but becoz of prices. We move to kia, Hyundai and others. We need mini versions of harrier.
I feel that we are expecting too much for what we are paying....nothing wrong asking for more....but every car can't be perfect....it keeps on improving....if u give the best car in first go....where is the chance of improvement aspect???? So , as from ur experience , in this price bracket, this is the best suv we can buy ...thankyou veery much.

but seems overpriced by Rs2lakhs +. Hence third grade cars such as Kia saltos is taking advantage of this.
Now harrier sale is good enough . If tata do competitive pricing by flat reduction of price by Rs2-2.5 lakhs in all variants following cars will be wiped out from market of that segment .

The fact that tata is giving the same alloy design despite the size being bigger in safari shows how unadventurous Tata was while planning this one.
I mean there are tons of suttle alloy design in the market. Bt tata chose not to experiment

Better choice is Toyota Innova crysta. Driving dynamics, Joy of riding, suspension,comfort,built quality and long drive capabilities you get.... Safari and harrier maybe better looking but apart from that they don't show much promise compared to Innova...if you want to go for 4 wheelers or 2 Wheelers always opt for foreign brand's rather then Indian brand's...
Indians brand's are still focussing on cosmetics rather then quality..
Ford, Toyota, Honda, nissan are some legendary brand's but sadly they don't have all the variants in India but whatever they have it's the best in the segment.
If you can stretch your budget go for German brand's like VW,Audi or BMW
